The Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into E. Jean Carroll, the former magazine columnist who accused President Donald Trump of sexual assault, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
The investigation is focused on whether Carroll committed perjury in testimony tied to her two civil lawsuits against the president – one alleging he sexually abused Carroll in a New York department store in the mid-1990s, and a second for defaming her when in 2019 he repeatedly denied the assault, said she wasn’t his type and claimed she made it up to boost sales of a book.
Prosecutors’ theory hinges on a 2022 deposition statement by Carroll, 82, that she received no outside funding for her lawsuit, though it was later revealed that billionaire Reid Hoffman had paid some legal fees and expenses.

She’s a paid, fraudulent Crook.
Nelson Ha Ha!
Let the shrieking begin
Good!
This should go further.
The days of someone accusing someone of racial or sexual misconduct, committing libel and slander, being found out to be a fraud, and there not being any consequence, need to end.
Race and sex have become a “free for all” when it comes to making BS allegations against a boss or co-worker.
The truth will out
Why is this a federal matter and not a state matter? Was it a federal court deposition?
Oh and I know, the state would never investigate it... which means the DOJ should go after the state of NY... maybe that is where this is heading.
She’s a nut

It looks like some “clean-up” is being done in the DOJ.

It appears the US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois has uncovered systemic problems in the office’s past handling of prosecutions, particularly related to grand jury proceedings.
This comes amid the collapse of the so-called “Broadway Six” case this month; a federal judge determined longtime DOJ employee Sheri Mecklenburg had engaged in misconduct before the grand jury, which handed down an indictment in Oct 2025. Mecklenburg left the office in Feb 2026 and detailed to the Dem side of the Senate Judiciary Committee. (She has been fired.)
But while local media is desperate to portray this as an example of Trump DOJ incompetence and corruption, US Attorney Andrew Boutros (appointed by Trump) today announced major reforms and an ongoing review of cases handled by Mecklenburg and the other asst. US attorneys involved in the “Broadway Six” matter. This move is yet another way DOJ officials are attempting to clean house.
“They also make the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office among, if not the leading district in the country on grand jury disclosures. These remediations should also be deeply curative and put to rest once and for all the divergent practices that have existed across the Office for decades.”

The NYTimes reported LinkedIn co-founder and billionaire Reid Hoffman helped fund E. Jean Carroll’s legal battle against Donald Trump. Hoffman provided financial backing through a non-profit organization, [American Future Republic], which assisted in covering expenses.
Hoffman’s support was directed through a legal team, [Kaplan Hecker & Fink], with funding from the non-profit [American Future Republic].
The financial support was provided after Carroll had already filed her lawsuit, according to her legal team.Discovery: The funding was disclosed by Carroll’s attorneys to Trump’s legal team, prompting claims from the defense that the support was initially concealed, according to [CNN] and [Forbes].
Hoffman defended his contribution as part of a broader effort to support legal cases against threats, noting it was intended to prevent individuals from being silenced by more powerful figures, reports [The Washington Post] and [Fox News].
While Donald Trump’s attorneys argued the funding showed the lawsuit was politically motivated, the judge allowed the lawsuit to proceed, according to [The New York Times] and [Business Insider].
Good she lied she made the whole thing up from the start and took the plot from law and order svu
Great! Now subpoena all her emails, phone call, texts, and see who she was conspiring with.
I hope they fry her!
Let the screaming of retaliation commence.
“Why is this a federal matter and not a state matter? Was it a federal court deposition?”
I also thought it was state, but apparently the Feds were involved.
“In May 2023, a FEDERAL jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, ordering him to pay Carroll \(\$5\) million.”
Burn the witch. Metaphorically, of course.
“...the former magazine columnist who accused President Donald Trump of sexual assault...”
This case should go no further until the idiot can suppy a time and a date that the assault supposedly happened, with corroborating witnesses or evidence.
Has there ever been a case in a court of law that a conviction was made solely based on an accusation; I mean in the modern age, since the Salem witch trials?
