Join with fellow FREEPERS to pray for AMERICA: For those in Authority in Government, Family, Military, Business, Agri-Business; End to Sex Slavery; Healthcare, Education, Churches, and the Media. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14) I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2 Religion Forum Threads labeled [Prayer] are closed to...

Republican Chicagoans believe the conflicts between ICE and the protesters are a consequence of the city's sanctuary policies. "ICE is trying to get the worst of the worst out of the city to keep them safer. They're getting a lot of really bad people out of our community: sex offenders, drug cartel pushers. I've seen crime go down because of this." "If the city cooperated with the Feds. ICE wouldn't have to go out into the streets and make arrests." Democrats who opposed ICE's actions are no different from the Confederates who tried to separate from the federal government during...

Kentucky quarterback Zach Calzada apologized Friday for sending a video to someone on social media in which he boasted about the amount of NIL money he has received from the Wildcats this season. The video, which was posted to X by a different person, showed Calzada counting a large stack of $100 bills. Calzada, who turns 25 on Saturday, said he sent the video to someone who had apparently criticized his play this season. In the video, Calzada tells the fan, "Hey, what you need to do, Garrett, is your ass needs to stop hatin' and go get you some...

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Nov. 7 proposed a new plan to end the record-breaking federal government shutdown, ahead of another possible vote on a Republican-backed bill to reopen the government. Schumer said on the Senate floor that his proposal would continue expiring premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, for a year, giving lawmakers time to work out a longer solution. They are slated to expire at the end of this year. Open enrollment for Obamacare, when prospective customers first got a look at potential new costs, began on Nov. 1. “That’s not a negotiation....

The left always cares more about narrative than the truth. A split-second image can fuel outrage, define a story, and reshape public perception before facts even arrive. What happened in the Oval Office this week proves how easily that machine spins and how rare it is for decency to make the headline. Yet behind the noise lay a moment that said more about leadership than any carefully crafted address could. That moment came during a White House event on Thursday focused on expanding access to obesity treatments. In the middle of the ceremony, a guest suddenly collapsed in the Oval...

Here we go again. Socialism is making a comeback, according to friend and foe alike. A new NBC poll now suggests that a majority of registered voters don’t like capitalism. A Gallup poll in September also found that support for capitalism was slipping. A Data for Progress poll around the same time showed that — after asking some decidedly leading questions about democratic socialism — people liked democratic socialism. Still, Politico combined the results to declare: “Capitalism is out … and socialism is in.” And just this week, an NPR podcast dedicated a segment to explaining “How socialism got sexy.”...

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson temporarily halted an order requiring the Trump administration make full Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) November payments by Friday. Jackson’s ruling pauses some of the payments until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit can decide the administration’s motion to block the order pending its appeal. It does not reflect a ruling on the underlying legal merits of the case, but it provides a temporary reprieve to the Trump administration, which went to the Supreme Court earlier Friday evening. “Given the First Circuit’s representations, an administrative stay is required to facilitate the...

Global investments in renewable energy aren't bearing fruit and the world should focus on securing reliable supplies of fossil fuels, U.S. energy and interior secretaries said this week as they worked on convincing Europe to buy more U.S. oil and gas. The U.S. has become Europe's top oil and gas supplier on the back of the U.S. shale boom and its companies are seeking to boost the share as the European Union moves to fully cut off remaining Russian energy imports. The message from U.S. officials at an energy conference in Athens this week highlights the shift in U.S. policy...

Self-professed democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani won the three-way race for New York City Mayor with more than 50% of the ballots cast. He called his victory "a clear mandate for my plan of reform. The majority of the people have endorsed increased taxes on the rich, freezing rents, establishing government-owned grocery stores, free and rapid bus service, and relentless opposition to the Trump tyranny." The mayor-elect mocked naysayers who predict his policies will wreck the city, saying that "these kinds of policies successfully transformed an agrarian Russia into a global colossus that won both the war against Hitler and the...

BREAKING: Supreme Court issues emergency order temporarily blocking full SNAP food aid payments - AP

On Tuesday night, as returns came in and Zohran Mamdani secured his victory to become New York City’s next mayor, the reaction was swift in a place 1,300 miles south: Miami. Not from New Yorkers looking to flee — at least not yet — but from Florida locals, who began moving to secure homes before the wave they fear is coming. By Wednesday morning, waterfront homes that might normally linger through Thanksgiving were instead moving into contract at a fast clip. Condos that had sat through the summer heat suddenly found themselves with multiple offers. The buyers were not hedge...

Dinesh D'Souza calls in to explain the danger of Tucker Carlson, who is driving a wedge between Christians and Jews, America and Israel, and the pillars of Western civilization, which harms Trump, MAGA, and the Republican Party by inviting bigotries like anti-Semitism.

Daniel Day-Lewis rejected misconceptions about Method acting during a wide-ranging conversation at the BFI London Film Festival… The accomplished actor — a three-time best actor Oscar winner for “My Left Foot” (1989), “There Will Be Blood” (2007) and “Lincoln” (2012) — is known for his immersive process, devoting himself to staying in character throughout filming. Despite how it’s worked out for him, going Method has received a fair amount of pushback in recent years from those who believe it to be unhealthy — or just plain silly. However, Day-Lewis pushed back against these notions after an audience member asked about...

Presumed 2028 presidential candidate Gavin Newsom, Democratic governor of California and a card-carrying member of the San Francisco elite, has been channeling the ghost of Horatio Alger in a much-mocked attempt to portray himself as someone who made it out of a tough childhood. But Newsom, 58, famously grew up surrounded by the most powerful families in California who not only backed his early business ventures but greased the wheels of his political ascent, sources have told the Daily Mail. Even his staunchest supporters admit that Newsom's early life was not exactly the stuff of deep struggle. But that hasn't...

An unexpected attack from swarms of venomous wasps killed two American tourists, a father and his son, during a zip-lining trip in Laos. The attack occurred on October 15 but was publicly reported earlier this week. A source close to U.S. diplomats in Laos told The Times of London that the hornets overwhelmed Daniel and Cooper Owen as they descended from a tree at Green Jungle Park, an eco-adventure resort near the city of Luang Prabang. The pair, still conscious, was quickly transferred to a clinic and then to the provincial hospital for emergency attention. However, they died a few...

Many workers climb the career ladder believing that someone else has to fall off for them to rise. But former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris says that’s not only wrong—it’s what’s holding people back. “There are far too many people in this world and in professional life who approach things with a zero-sum game,” Harris said recently on The Diary of a CEO podcast. “If I have more, you have less. And it is incredibly shortsighted.” Unfortunately, she added, it’s the exact mindset that may have hurt her chances of becoming the chief of state. Harris had sensed for “quite...
