Federal regulators are investigating nearly 3 million Teslas following reports of crashes linked to the automaker’s self-driving technology. The US National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Thursday it was focusing on incidents in which Teslas failed to stop at red lights or drove on the wrong side of the road — sometimes slamming into other vehicles and causing injuries. It’s the latest effort from regulators to scrutinize Elon Musk’s electric car maker, which has faced federal probes for over three years. This time, the NHTSA says it is focusing on 58 cases that resulted in 14 crashes and 23...

When the guardians become the hunted, and the protectors need protection, you know a city has crossed the line from civilization into something darker. That line isn’t just being approached in Chicago; it’s been obliterated, leaving federal agents to fend for themselves in what should be American streets, not war zones. The very people sworn to uphold the law are being abandoned by those who claim to represent justice. President Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops to Chicago didn’t come from nowhere. The reality on the ground tells a different story—one where federal law enforcement officers are being systematically...

Technological advances may turn back aging, extending the average life span by at least a decade.A recent study out of Stanford University found that the human body doesn’t age gradually at an equal rate over time. Instead the body undergoes major biological shifts—in other words, aging—at roughly ages 44 and 60. Having just crossed that second milestone with a first skin cancer diagnosis and two back surgeries to show for it this year, I can confirm that aging doesn’t creep. It pounces. For generations, we’ve accepted this decline as inevitable. But that assumption may no longer hold true. Science fiction is...

The EU’s plan to watch what you spend.and modernization. But, much like the Chinese model that seems to inspire ECB President Christine Lagarde, what is at stake is not just technology: it is the risk of turning a payment instrument into a mechanism of control over every citizen’s transactions. Across the Atlantic, the United States took the opposite path: it legalized stablecoins and banned a centralized digital dollar, strengthening freedom and competition instead of state control. On September 26, the European Central Bank announced what had long been anticipated: it will conduct new experiments on what can be achieved with the...

After US President Donald Trump enhanced the application fee for H-1B visas to $1,00,000, many American firms have started advertising technical jobs exclusively for US citizens. Roles such as software developers, process engineers, project managers, and UI/UX designers, once largely filled by H-1B visa holders, are now being listed with a clear note: “Open to US citizens only.” Industry experts said that the new fee has made hiring foreign talent “financially unviable” for most companies, especially small and mid-sized ones. The move, which came into effect last month, is imposed on companies hiring new H-1B applicants. The $1,00,000-fee caused widespread...

Daily Readings from the USCCBJesus said to his disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him…’” Luke 11:5–6Unless your friend were truly a very close friend, you may hesitate in waking them and their family at midnight to ask to borrow some food. And even if it were a very close friend, you would probably hesitate for fear of disturbing them. But in this parable,...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a stunning development that experts said could change the course of geopolitics for the foreseeable future, Hitler announced a historic agreement that would bring lasting peace to Israel. While historians were shocked to see that the man who was long thought to be the epitome of hatred toward the Jewish people had successfully brokered a peace treaty to usher in peace for the war-torn region of the Middle East, they had no choice but to acknowledge the positive impact Hitler was now having on Israel's fortunes. "Saving and protecting Jewish people is what Hitler is all...

VIDEOWhen it's good news for President Trump, MAGA, and the country in general, you can count on Morning Mika to put on her sour face. Such was the case when Morning Joe announced the significant Mideast peace deal arranged by Trump. The result was the Morning Mika sour face. Give poor Mika credit. She was struggling mightily to keep from looking downright gloomy and the result was her signature sour face.

Last week’s bombshell claim—that Christopher Wray and Attorney General Garland signed off on the FBI’s surveillance of GOP senators because any probe touching elected officials must be approved as a Sensitive Investigative Matter (SIM)—should shock every defender of constitutional government. If true, it confirms what many have long feared: that the administrative apparatus of the federal state—the American Leviathan—no longer views itself as subordinate to our elected branches, but as a power unto itself. It tells us that the Leviathan has fully turned on its masters. The Founders built this Republic on a simple idea: that the people rule themselves through their elected...

Evil unchecked always spreads — and Democrats are proofA party that excuses murder fantasies today will excuse real murders tomorrow.Over the weekend, we learned that Jay Jones, the Democrats’ candidate for Virginia attorney general, had been fantasizing about killing his political opponents. Jones not only told colleagues he would shoot Republicans before shooting Hitler or Pol Pot but also expressed a desire to watch children die in their conservative parents’ arms. These comments would be disqualifying in any sane political culture. But after the assassination of Charlie Kirk last month and the wave of anti-ICE violence that has followed, Democrats had...

Trump is not only scapegoating our city; he is plotting to make the neighborhoods of working families, immigrants and communities of color the staging grounds for authoritarian force. While many families prepared their children for school Monday morning, Sept. 29, I woke up to calls from parents in Chicago too afraid to leave their homes. Rumors of immigration enforcement were spreading, and the simple act of walking a child to school felt like too much of a risk. I am a mother and an Illinois state representative, and these calls hit me in two places at once: as a parent who...

'Academic killjoys' have slapped a trigger warning on Ian Fleming's James Bond novel Dr No. English literature students at the University of Portsmouth have reportedly been warned that the book, published in 1958, contains 'instances of racism, misogyny and xenophobia'. The university said the warning 'enables students to prepare emotionally' as well as engage 'more deeply' with the text. The book, which centres on 007's investigation into the appearance of two MI6 operatives in Jamaica, is among more than 50 texts slapped with a trigger warning. Course leaders claim the book's titular villain, Chinese-German scientist Dr Julius No, is 'problematic,...

Ethylene Glycol is the main ingredient found in antifreeze. The 34-year-old victim told police he believed 33-year-old Kristen Hogan had poisoned him.
