Sales of electrified rigs are booming in China, with the United States lagging far behind, says David Fickling for Bloomberg Opinion. To hear Bill Gates tell it, the electric drivetrains that have transformed the passenger vehicle industry over the past decade have no chance of repeating the trick in heavy trucks. Russia-controlled Crimea has frozen fuel prices and imposed gasoline rationing in response to shortages resulting from a spate of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. Regional governor Sergei Askyonov said on Monday that motorists in Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, would be limited to buying 30 litres of fuel at a time. He also announced a 30-day price freeze on various grades of diesel and gasoline, a measure apparently designed to minimise public anger over the disruption. Aksyonov announced the move on social media, saying he had held a meeting with oil traders to seek solutions...

Vice President JD Vance said Monday that the federal government was most likely “headed into a shutdown” after President Trump and top congressional leaders failed to strike an agreement during a private meeting at the White House. The United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) has come under fire for potentially prioritizing cultural sensitivity over significant health concerns after it published a report last week questioning a major issue of public debate — should first-cousin marriages be banned? Debate over the issue heightened earlier this year after U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he would not ban the practice outright, despite known risks to future generations, as children born from first cousins are at increased risk for diseases like sickle cell disease and cystic fibrosis. Starmer, along with members of his Labour government, has argued that education should...

One Donald Trump accomplishment that often goes overlooked is getting Rosie O’Donnell and other unhinged Hollywood has-beens to leave the country. So let’s give credit where credit is due. Of course, even though O’Donnell is no longer stateside, she still desperately clings to relevancy by complaining about President Trump to anyone who will listen. This is what makes her latest performance on Nicolle Wallace’s podcast so revealing. O’Donnell, once a fixture on daytime TV and whose last hit movie was A League of Their Own back in 1992, clearly cannot let go of Trump. She can’t move on, she can’t...
