Sir Keir Starmer admitted he was “frustrated” by his first year in power as he carried out a reshuffle of his top team in No 10. The Prime Minister accepted voters had a right to be angry with the Labour Government almost 14 months after he entered Downing Street. On Monday, Sir Keir hired a string of experienced economists for senior No 10 positions in a move he said marked the beginning of “phase two” of his premiership. It also threatens to undermine Rachel Reeves ahead of a challenging autumn Budget at which she is expected to have to announce...

Daily Readings from the USCCBWhen the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. But he passed through the midst of them and went away. Luke 4:28–30It’s hard to believe that those people who knew Jesus, those from the town in which He had been raised, reacted in such a severe way to our Lord. Jesus had just entered the Synagogue and read from the Prophet...

It looks like another Democrat darling has tripped over his own carefully crafted narrative. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) just had a public meltdown when confronted about a glaring and long-running falsehood: his claim to having received a Bronze Star. For years, Moore casually let the military honor bolster his public image, political resume, and book sales — but now, under scrutiny, he’s suddenly claiming it "wasn't something I even thought about.” That’s a hard pill to swallow, considering the Bronze Star is not just some casual decoration. It’s one of the U.S. military’s most prestigious awards, given for heroic...

An 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead at a hospital Sunday after he was shot while running from a home he had rung the doorbell on, Houston city officials said. The boy had been ringing doorbells Saturday night in the area and running as part of a game known as “doorbell ditch,” the city said in a statement. “A witness stated the male was running from a house, after ringing the doorbell, just prior to suffering a gunshot wound,” it said. Officers responding to the shooting on the 9700 block of Racine Street released a person who had been detained for...

From mild and dry winters in New England and California to cold, wet conditions in Florida, The Old Farmer's Almanac's latest forecast offers a state-by-state snapshot of what Americans can expect this winter. Why It Matters Published since 1792, The Old Farmer's Almanac claims to be the oldest continuously published periodical in the U.S. The publication explains that its forecasts are developed using insights from three scientific disciplines: solar science, climatology, and meteorology. Solar science involves analyzing sunspots and other solar activity, while climatology focuses on weather patterns, and meteorology studies atmospheric conditions. What To Know Much of the country...

During the past couple of decades, formerly fringe radical ideologies have displaced moderate “leftist” beliefs in our politics and mainstream culture. Previously, such ideologies had been largely reserved for ivory-tower intellectuals who considered anti-Americanism fashionable and morally superior. The decreasing support for the Democrat Party should come as no surprise, given its radical positions on subjects such as crime and transgenderism. American leftists often side with the most depraved criminals and blame instead society and the victims. The reasons for this absurd position run deeper than Trump-derangement syndrome. They are related to Marxist, progressive, and socialist ideology, which views history...

Despite the ongoing budget concerns, commissioners voted 4–1 this week to allocate funding for the 2025 Gay Softball World Series. The measure, sponsored by Garcia, dedicates $468,610 to the tournament, with Ramsey casting the lone “no” vote. Garcia said the money would come in part from a tourism fund designed to attract events that bring visitors to the county. However, while part of the funding does come from that tourism fund, the other part comes from Precinct 2’s General Fund—largely supported by property taxes. In effect, at least 50 percent of the $468,610 will come from local property tax revenue...

A Labour MP has said people flying the St George’s Cross outside a migrant hotel in his constituency are “extremists” trying to “mark territory”. Clive Lewis, who represents Norwich South, criticised Norfolk county council for not removing the flags after they were put up on lampposts around the Brook Hotel in Bowthorpe over a week ago. The hotel has been the scene of protests and counter-protests in recent weeks over its use to asylum seekers, with hundreds of people descending on the area. The Eastern Daily Press quoted Mr Lewis as saying that “most people say they fly the St...

The North Atlantic Treaty was signed in 1949 with a solemn pledge: NATO members would not only defend one another against external aggression, they would safeguard “the freedom, common heritage and civilization of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law.” These words matter. They mean that NATO is not simply a military alliance, it is a union of democracies. Its credibility rests on the idea that members govern themselves with the very liberties they claim to defend. Yet in recent years, several NATO states have drifted from these commitments, especially when confronted...

Since Donald Trump has begun the push to deport illegal aliens, we’ve seen stories about families being broken up, and people losing their homes or being deported without having been arrested for crimes other than illegal entry. The stories are framed sympathetically to wring American hearts, but they don’t change the debate because you can’t run a country based on emotional anecdotal narratives. Still, that’s exactly what Democrats want the country to do. They’re suggesting that most of the 40 million illegal aliens they invited into the country over the last quarter century are doctors, engineers, or saints, and, therefore,...

Elon Musk has ridiculed Sir Keir Starmer's Britain after it emerged new-build homes are being reserved for migrants in a village where many locals struggle to get on the property ladder. The decision to use four £300,000 three-bedroom houses in Suffolk as migrant accommodation has prompted fury at a time when Labour claims to be getting tough on immigration. Tesla founder Mr Musk has now taken to X to share his view by posting a link to the Mail's coverage alongside the comment: 'This must stop now.' It comes as Home Secretary Yvette Cooper prepares to face MPs today to...

In light of an opinion issued Tuesday by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, the American Civil Liberties Union said that eight Ohio counties don’t have legal contracts with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement. That being the case, the ACLU of Ohio said, those detainees must be released. However, one Ohio sheriff’s office said its contract with the feds meets the legal standards Yost laid out. Another said he’ll fix any problems, but he’s not releasing anybody. For its part, Yost’s office declined to answer questions. After taking office in January, President Donald Trump swiftly began implementing his policy of mass...
