  • ADHD Stimulants May Increase Risk of Heart Damage in Young Adults

    04/22/2025 6:46:17 PM PDT · by CondoleezzaProtege · 22 replies
Young adults who were prescribed stimulant medications for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) were significantly more likely to develop cardiomyopathy (weakened heart muscle) compared with those who were not prescribed stimulants, in a study presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session. The study found that people prescribed stimulants such as Adderall and Ritalin were 17% more likely to have cardiomyopathy at one year and 57% more likely to have cardiomyopathy at eight years compared with those who were not taking these medications. Cardiomyopathy involves structural changes in the heart muscle that weaken its pumping ability. It can cause a...

Illinois Republican state Rep. Dan Ugaste is speaking out against a “nationwide literacy crisis” that counts Illinois among the more than 40 states where just one out of every three fourth grade students are now meeting reading proficiency standards. Data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress report card shows that in Illinois, just 30% of fourth graders are hitting such standards. In a 2024 national exam, the state's students finished 29th in the country for the percentage of fourth graders at or above proficiency. “This is a huge problem across the country, but it's a real problem here in...

Two Mexican nationals in the U.S. on nonimmigrant visas were arrested during a traffic stop in Colorado last month while transporting 180,000 rounds of ammunition, authorities said Wednesday. Caesar Ramon Martinez Solis, 41, and Humberto Ivan Amador Gavira, 24, both of Mexico, were pulled over in Canon City on March 26, the U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Colorado said in a news release. SNIP It’s hard to know from the article exactly what kind of ammo they had. If “.308” is right, that’s high-powered ammo suitable for hunting with common bolt-action rifles, and semiautomatic battle rifles like the FN-FAL,...

Not even months into his new pontificate, Pope Francis declared, to a group of young people in Paraguay, “Go out and make a mess.” A puzzling remark from the Successor of St. Peter. As the years of his papacy went on, we witnessed what he meant. Year after year, he kept his promise. And the Church descended into an unprecedented chaos. Recall St. Augustine’s classic definition of peace: the tranquillitas ordinis (the tranquility of order). During Pope Francis’ reign, there was nothing of order and certainly no tranquility. Upheaval followed upheaval; shock gave way to more shock; ambiguity was compounded...

The Royal Navy's flagship HMS Prince of Wales has departed on one of its biggest deployments yet. The £3bn aircraft carrier set off from Portsmouth and will take part in exercises demonstrating the UK's ability to operate fast jets at sea, and carry out large scale military operations on the other side of the world. Up to 24 of the latest F-35B stealth jets will join the carrier as it leads a multi-national fleet of warships to 40 countries across the Mediterranean, Middle East, south-east Asia, Japan and Australia. The 65,000-tonne warship, which can hold up to 1,600 military personnel,...

Study Finds ^ | April 22, 2025 | Research led by Omar J. Ahmed, Elizabeth J. Brouns, and Tyler G. Ekins (University of Michigan)
In a nutshell One dose of a psychedelic compound (25CN-NBOH) significantly improved cognitive flexibility in mice, even 2 to 3 weeks after the drug was administered. Treated mice adapted better to new learning rules in a reversal task, showing stronger performance across multiple behavioral measures compared to controls. These long-lasting effects suggest psychedelics may promote meaningful, enduring changes in brain plasticity, offering potential new approaches for treating conditions like depression, PTSD, and Alzheimer’s disease. ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A single dose of a psychedelic compound could be key to helping your brain become more adaptable for weeks. University of Michigan...

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced a series of new measures to phase out all petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the nation’s food supply—a significant milestone in the administration’s broader initiative to Make America Healthy Again. The FDA is taking the following actions: 1. Establishing a national standard and timeline for the food industry to transition from petrochemical-based dyes to natural alternatives. 2. Initiating the process to revoke authorization for two synthetic food colorings—Citrus Red No. 2 and Orange B—within the coming months. 3. Working with industry to eliminate six...

Today the Colorado Deep State in conjunction with the Globalists were unsuccessful in dismissing the DOJ Statement of Interest against Tina Peters. This alone was a HUGE victory for justice. Leading up to today, the Insurgent Marxist Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser on behalf of his Globalist handlers did all he could to prevent the case from even being heard. He even attempted to utilize last minute 3rd Grade excuses reminiscent of why homework wasn’t done. Their excuses were also unsuccessful. The Judge today heard both sides, and instead of ruling in favor of the Deep State as it usually...

The border policies of President Donald Trump have been incredibly successful in halting the flow of illegals crossing into the United States from the south. Such a conclusion is not surprising if it came from a conservative oriented media source. However, since that was the conclusion of a writer for the Trump hating The Atlantic magazine, it makes one scratch his head in amazement that the periodical someone let this article by Justin Gest get published on Saturday, "Migrants Are Heading South." The subtitle of the article is also highly adulatory of Trump's border policies, "For years, millions of people...

Donald Trump and Joe Biden officials ‘improperly shared’ sensitive documents with over 11,000 federal workers, The Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing internal records. These documents included classified White House floor plans. The lapse by the General Services Administration, which supports the basic functioning of the government and manages its real estate portfolio, triggered a cybersecurity incident report and investigation last week, the report added. WaPo added that the internal records showed that a Google Drive folder was shared with the entire GSA staff, more than 11,200 people. It included sensitive documents and the White House floor plan. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke via phone on Tuesday with US President Donald Trump, the American leader said, declaring that the pair “are on the same side of every issue.” The call covered “numerous subjects including Trade, Iran, etc.,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, adding that the conversation went “very well.” Notably, Trump did not include Gaza or the 59 hostages being held there in his list of topics discussed amid the ongoing impasse in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas. However, according to a report in Axios, the pair did talk about efforts to reach...

An Oakland woman was sentenced to four years in federal prison for leading a drug trafficking service that supplied methamphetamine and other drugs to “students and young professionals,” officials for the U.S. attorney’s office said. Natalie Marie Gonzalez, 31, pleaded guilty in September to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. She was indicted in October 2023 along with three co-defendants for her role in managing an “on-demand drug trafficking delivery service” around the Bay Area known as “The Shop,” officials said. According to prosecutors, the delivery service had a menu of drugs for sale and required a $300 minimum...

Two teenage girls from Germany were detained, arrested, and deported at an airport in Hawaii after immigration officials said it was suspicious they had not booked a hotel room. Backpackers Charlotte Pohl, 19, and Maria Lepere, 18, arrived in Honolulu from Auckland while undergoing a round-the-world trip. The duo planned to spend five weeks in Hawaii before moving onto California and Costa Rica for the next legs of their journey. But despite having ESTA travel authorization, immigration officials accused them of attempting to enter the U.S. to work illegally, and they were placed in handcuffs and taken to a nearby...
