In October, Stanford University professor Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, hosted a conferenceopens in a new tab or window on the lessons of COVID-19 in order "to do better in the next pandemic." He invited scholars, journalists, and policy wonks who, like him, have criticized the U.S. management of the crisis as overly draconian. Bhattacharya also invited public health authorities who had considered his alternative approach reckless. None of them showed up. Now, the "contrarians" are seizing the reins: President Donald Trump has nominated Bhattacharya to lead the NIH and Johns Hopkins University surgeon Marty Makary, MD, MPH, to run the...

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said: "Looks like the conservative party in Germany has won the very big and highly anticipated election. Much like the USA, the people of Germany got tired of the no common sense agenda, especially on energy and immigration, that has prevailed for so many years."

“Your orange antichrist is not above the law — I'm gonna take everything you have” He says “When this clown show of criminals is done, when your stupid governor is gone, when this thing shakes out — I’m gonna sue everybody who ever took custody of him unlawfully” “I'm gonna take every last thing you have. I'm gonna enforce laws that have been on the books since 1868. You can't violate people's civil rights under the color of law. I don't care what you think you are now and what kind of authority you think you have. You're not above...

“The job of the president, goes the message from all the insiders, is to PRETEND to be in charge but not actually do anything meaningful." —Jeffrey Tucker James Howard Kunstler Feb 24, 2025 CBS’s 60-Minutes show was at it again Sunday night in the most prime primetime weekend news slot on the old broadcast spectrum — Sunday at 7:00, the power-hour of national mind-fu**ery — with blob PR-agent Scott Pelley singing the blues over the systematic disassembly of the rogue bureaucracy. Trouble is, fewer and fewer minds are susceptible to the argument that the blob exists to “save our democracy.”...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said "we hope that we can finish this war this year" on the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. But he warned that Ukraine needs security guarantees to prevent Moscow returning, suggesting EU and Nato membership will help. Russia has consistently opposed the idea of Ukraine joining Nato. Earlier, Zelensky said a peace deal with Russia could start with a "full" exchange of prisoners of war. Zelensky was speaking at a summit of European leaders, plus Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, who were in Kyiv to show their support.

[...]a team of economists from Wellesley College and the University of Maryland published a working paper that focused on a peculiar puzzle facing the United States: declining birth rates.[...] Those economists concluded that one of the biggest factors was shifting priorities among younger Americans — away from raising children and toward career and travel aspirations.[...] t’s no secret that families with children are the easiest pathway to ensure that a church, mosque or synagogue will be able to sustain itself for decades to come. But which traditions are doing a good job of having children, and which ones aren’t? And...

Sir Keir Starmer has praised President Trump for “changing the global conversation” on Ukraine for the better and creating an opportunity for peace, but warned him that that would not happen if he tried to shut out Kyiv. Britain is seeking to make clear areas of disagreement with the United States administration without directly criticising the president. Starmer will meet Trump this week on a high-stakes visit to Washington during which he will try to convince him not to abandon Ukraine. Starmer said that Putin “does not hold all the cards” and David Lammy, the foreign secretary, hit out at...

Much ink has been spilled by Catholics over the new film Conclave—and not by way of praise. Directed by Edward Berger, it is a piece of anti-Catholic propaganda posing as a film—and it is very successful in that. But what will be said here (and isn’t being said enough elsewhere) is that I think the film is a warning to liberals within and without the Church to prepare for the death of Pope Francis. Conclave begins at the deathbed of the pope, a liberal pope who had lost his faith—not in God, but in the Church. His sudden passing begins...

If Presidents can't control the Executive Branch, elections don't really matter. The Administrative State exists to perpetuate unelected Democrat control, no matter who wins or loses. It has to end. Ninety years ago, Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal created a constitutional obscenity: agencies of government that violated separation of powers and that were not accountable to the elected President. You might find it odd that as dynamic a President as FDR would want this, but oh dear reader, you are missing the point. The agencies were staffed almost entirely by Democrats, who were happy to do Roosevelt’s bidding. It’s after Roosevelt,...

Australia’s treasurer, Jim Chalmers, will continue to push for steel and aluminum tariff exemptions in his discussions with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent this week. Chalmers traveled to Washington Sunday night for his first in-person meeting with his counterpart since Bessent assumed the post, though Chalmers noted in a statement that “our established relationship predates this meeting.” Chalmers told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that he doesn’t “expect to conclude those discussions on steel and aluminium while I’m in DC,” but expects the tariffs will be a focus of discussions. “Trade and tariffs will be part of the conversation, but not...

Thousands of individuals have signed an online petition urging the revocation of tech billionaire Elon Musk’s Canadian citizenship over his involvement in the Trump administration, which the petitioners argue undermines Canada’s sovereignty. The petition, which is progressing through the Canada’s House of Commons, was filed by Qualia Reed, an author from Nanaimo, British Columbia. Democrat MP Charlie Angus, a vocal critic of Musk, has also backed the petition, which had garnered over 34,000 signatures from across Canada by Saturday evening, according to Canadian outlet CTV News. The petition calls on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to cancel Musk’s citizenship and...

President Trump’s selection of Dan Bongino as deputy FBI director adds another conservative firebrand to the top of the agency, fueling concerns from Democrats the bureau will be politicized. A former Secret Service agent and New York City police officer turned right-wing pundit, Bongino has bragged of “owning the libs,” recently suggested Trump should defy a court order and has called the agency he will soon help lead “irredeemably corrupt.” In hiring Bongino, Trump tapped a second figure, after FBI Director Kash Patel, who has a lengthy history of controversial statements and little experience with the FBI. The Trump administration...

(NewsNation) — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin tells “On Balance with Leland Vittert” she’d be honored to serve in President Donald Trump’s second administration but hasn’t been contacted. “I thought that there’d be a position in energy, in that department, because that’s my baby … but that hasn’t happened,” Palin said Friday. She pointed to “gatekeepers” within the administration, telling NewsNation: “It gets frustrating for those with a heart to serve.” “I didn’t even get credentials to attend the GOP convention if you can believe it,” she added. “They’re tight, they’re tight.” The former governor told NewsNation that she’s the...

A McDonald’s in Flatbush is now requiring customers under the age of 20 to be accompanied by a parent, a policy that has left some in the community surprised and frustrated.
