Sky News has had a knack these past few days for being in the right place at the right time to catch California's Democrat politicians embarrassing themselves as large parts of their state are decimated by out-of-control wildfires. L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, fresh off her boondoggle to Ghana, was caught at an L.A.-area airport by a Sky News reporter who asked her to comment on why she was AWOL as her city burned. Mouaz Moustafa says Gabbard’s response to Assad’s atrocities is a worrisome sign of how she’d serve as director of national intelligence. As executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a nonprofit established to respond to attacks on civilians by former dictator Bashar al-Assad, Mouaz Moustafa has shared crucial information with the U.S. government about the war in Syria. But he isn’t sure he’d continue doing so if Tulsi Gabbard is confirmed as Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence. And it wouldn’t surprise him if U.S. allies around the world followed suit.“If Tulsi Gabbard is running our intelligence services, France, UK,...

Most Americans don't expect history to be kind to President Joe Biden. A new Gallup survey found over half, 54%, believe Biden will be remembered as a “below average” (17%) or “poor” (37%) president. Just 19% think he’ll be remembered as an “outstanding” (6%) or “above average” (13%) president. Another 26% think Biden will be regarded as simply “average.” But Biden’s negative-35 net rating, showing the scales tipped towards unfavorable opinions, is rivaled by only Richard Nixon (negative-42 net rating) in the new Gallup survey. Ten modern presidents were included in the Gallup survey. John F. Kennedy rated best, and...

The Young Turks’ Ana Kasparian shredded California Democrats over their handling of the wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area this week, declaring that if “you want to radicalize people against the modern Democratic Party” you should “send them to LA.” Responding to a tweet from a progressive nonprofit blaming the water shortage in the Golden State on a “billionaire couple,” Kasparian wrote that “CA, and especially LA, is controlled by Democrats. THEY are responsible. No more passing the buck.” “Our Mayor, who was in Ghana as fires exploded in our city, cut the fire budget by $17 million. Endless amounts...

Gavin Newsom was left fumbling for a response after he was chased down by a distraught Los Angeles mom demanding answers over the wildfires ravaging the city. The California governor apologized and claimed to be trying to reach President Biden on the phone in a bid to shoo away the emotional woman on Thursday. The tense exchange came as large swathes of the city remained engulfed by the flames that have destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. 'Governor that was my daughter's school,' the mom cried out as she ran over to Newsom's SUV. Newsom was unable to provide a...

A plan to build the largest reservoir in California in decades, Sites Reservoir about 70 miles north of Sacramento, is being challenged as ecologically destructive and not worth the cost in a lawsuit filed by environmental groups Wednesday. The $4.5 billion project, which seeks to boost water supplies for drought-plagued cities and farms, was recently put on the fast track by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The suit, though, alleges the reservoir’s environmental impact report was insufficient, failing to address harm to fish and greenhouse gas emissions — problems opponents say make the additional water hard to justify. “It’s not a negligible...

Since his death, Jimmy Carter has been lauded for brokering the Camp David Accords and for his post-White House mission to help the poor and battle disease. But glossed over amid all the tributes is the burdensome legacy that Mr. Carter left for his Democratic Party: a presidency long caricatured as a symbol of ineffectiveness and weakness. This perception has shadowed the party for nearly 40 years. It was forged in the seizure of American hostages by Iranian militants in 1979 and the failed military attempt to free them, as well as the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union. And...

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Supreme Court ruled Thursday that local governments cannot restrict abortion services, striking down ordinances adopted by Clovis, Hobbs and two eastern New Mexico counties. The unanimous ruling came more than one year after the state's highest court heard arguments in a case brought by Attorney General Raúl Torrez that attracted several outside groups. In their ruling, the justices said the local anti-abortion ordinances violate state law and overstep the authority local governments hold by seeking to regulate health care access. "Our Legislature granted to counties and municipalities all powers and duties not inconsistent with...

Our readers are well aware that one of MRC Business’s biggest pet peeves has been the extent to which the leftist media went to bat for the insanity of Bidenomics the past four years. But The Washington Post’s pseudo-conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin is arguing like they just discovered its made-up stroke of genius yesterday. “Surprise! The media just discovered Bidenomics works,” railed Rubin in yet another senseless screed published Jan. 9. “Trump is getting a strong economy. If only the media had explained the Biden economic achievements,” Rubin whined, as if simping for Bidenomics wasn’t exactly what the media have...

Embattled Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has shrugged off calls for her to resign over her response to devastating wildfires. Speaking at a press conference, she said: 'My number one focus and the focus of all of us here is we have to protect lives, save lives and save homes.
