On Sunday, December 22, a US Navy guided-missile cruiser, the USS Gettysburg, mistakenly shot down an American fighter jet over the Red Sea. This was not the first incident of friendly fire by the U.S. Navy, nor the most tragic. On Sunday morning, July 3, 1988, at the tail end of the Iran-Iraq War, an Aegis cruiser in the Persian Gulf, the USS Vincennes, fired two Standard Missiles at a commercial Iranian Airbus, IR 655. Captain Will Rogers III and his crew had mistaken the ascending passenger jet with 290 people on board for a descending Iranian F-14, a fighter...

Russia's aviation watchdog said on Thursday that all four Moscow airports and the airport in Kaluga, 160km (100 miles) southwest of Moscow, were closed temporarily, without giving the reason. "Aircraft crews, air traffic controllers and airport services are taking all necessary measures to ensure flight safety," the statement from Rosaviatsia said...

VERY funny video, highlights of the 2024 campaign. Enjoy! One vulgar word noted. ** NOT ** to be watched while drinking your covfefe! This would be a good place to post other funny stuff too.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which left parts of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee completely devastated, the Federal Emergency Management Agency failed to provide stranded Americans with basic needs. On Christmas, many towns are still struggling to get by with residents sleeping in tents. When it became evident in September that the federal government was failing to adequately respond, President-elect Donald Trump launched a GoFundMe page for hurricane victims. "President Trump announced over $8 million in donations for victims of Hurricane Helene raised through his dedicated GoFundMe.

“[Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all...

My post on Saturday noted one big reason for optimism that the green energy fantasy is coming to the end of its run: the first country, Germany, has apparently begun to hit the green energy “wall.” Although Germany has never consistently reached even 50% of its electricity production from wind and solar, its ability to continue its green energy dreams has stalled: its electricity prices have soared, its manufacturing sector has been seriously undermined, its economy is in recession, and recently its green-promoting government has fallen. Its failed example now stands for others to see and avoid. And as I...

Brownstone Institute has been tracking a little-known federal agency for years. It is part of the Department of Homeland Security created after 9-11. It is called the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency or CISA. It was created in 2018 out of a 2017 executive order that seemed to make sense. It was a mandate to secure American digital infrastructure against foreign attack and infiltration. And yet during the Covid year, it assumed three huge jobs. It was the agency responsible for dividing the workforce between essential and nonessential. It led the way on censorship efforts. And it handled election security...

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli strike killed five Palestinian journalists outside a hospital in the Gaza Strip overnight, the Health Ministry said early Thursday. The Israeli military said it had targeted a group of militants. The strike hit a car outside the Al-Awda Hospital in the built-up Nuseirat refugee camp in the central part of the territory. The journalists were working for the local Quds News Network. The military said it targeted a group of fighters from Islamic Jihad, a militant group allied with Hamas, whose Oct. 7, 2023 attack into southern Israel ignited the war. Associated...

In an article by whyy.org, the National Public Radio station quotes retired police officer Randy Sutton, who says banning “Ghost guns” will not stop people from getting them. The reporter added interesting commentary to the quotes by Sutton. Sutton added that because ghost guns are not regulated, making them go away outright is unrealistic.Sutton’s words might be interpreted in such a manner. It seems clear Sutton meant the guns would not “go away outright” whether they were banned or not, whether they were regulated or not. Here is a quote from Sutton in the article.“There’s not a chance in the...

On this Chanukah, menorahs will be lit not only in the land of Israel, from Jerusalem to Gaza, but in Lebanon and on the heights of Mt. Hermon overlooking Syria. Vacationing families will visit the waterfalls of the Hermon Stream in the Golan Heights from which the Syrian Greek armies had descended thousands of years ago to conquer Israel leading to the events of. Chanukah. The lights of the menorahs over darkness are a reminder that miracles can still happen here. The Syrian Greeks had called the area Paneas after their god Pan and the Arab Muslim conquerors had retained...

Ahead of President Trump taking office on Jan. 20, Bidenomics is still with us. Joe crowed about all the 16 million jobs he'd 'created' in his speech five days ago, patting himself on the back. Here's the White House public relations video: [video at link] It was stolen valor. Turns out his jobs numbers look like this: Post Stephen Moore @StephenMoore 🚨 Another half-million jobs reported under Biden turn out to be phantom! 🚨 The Philly Fed's recent findings reveal that Q2 job growth was actually negative, with all reported gains set for revision in 2025. This follows an alarming...

Dramatic evidence has been published in a number of recent science papers that carbon dioxide levels are already "saturated," meaning little or no further warming is to be expected and rising CO2 levels are all beneficial. [This essay has also been published by Watts Up With That, the most visited CO2 skeptic website in the world]

Just because it is a season for peace on earth and goodwill towards men doesn't mean you can't mercilessly troll the vulnerable. Or, at least, that seems to be the philosophy of the Trump transition team. After taking a poke at Panama while announcing a new ambassador to that country (see Trump Doubles Down on Panama 'Ripping Off' America With New Ambassador Pick), Trump went for the trifecta. "Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always...

The Bible is pro-transgender, according to guidance promoted by an Anglican campaign group. It claims that “not everyone in the Bible is cisgender” – their gender at birth – and says that biblical stories contain “some clear queer characters”. This argument rests on the treatment of eunuchs in scripture and women taking part in apparently masculine activities in the Bible. The guidance is contained in resources hosted on the website LGBT Faith UK. A link to the document states: “The Bible affirms trans, intersex and queer people.” The text begins by stating: “Not everyone in the Bible is cisgender. Nor...

Given the coming technological revolutions in warfare, it is important that the United States and our allies get out in front early, keep the lead, and degrade the adversary’s capabilities.China’s “loyal wingman” fighter drones get a lot of attention these days. The wingman is a force multiplier, meant to fly in numbers alongside its crewed jet fighters or to lead a fleet of smaller drones. If deployed in a swarm, the wingmen and smaller drones could quickly overwhelm a fleet of manned fighter jets and air defenses. They are jet-powered but far less expensive than a regular fighter jet to...

Despite the open cases and apparent frequency of double votes, Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar stressed that ‘the 2024 election cycle was more secure than ever.’Nevada is investigating hundreds of potential election integrity violations from the 2024 elections, including 180 open cases of double-voting, according to a Friday report from the secretary of state’s office. The office noted 182 investigations of potential double-voting in the state, with only two having been resolved, with no violation found. Likewise, for 2024’s primary and general elections, 762 Election Integrity Violation Reports were filed by Nevadans who believe state election law has been violated, but...

Kay Granger was first elected to Congress nearly 30 years ago. She served as chair of the powerful House Appropriations Committee until she stepped down in March of this year. This week, her family admits she has “some dementia issues” and has lived in an assisted-care facility for the last six months. The last time she voted on the House floor was in July, and she has missed over 300 votes since then. The average age of Senators in the incoming Congress will be 64-years-old. In the House (meant to be “the people’s chamber”) the average age is 59. A majority...
