The Bible is pro-transgender, according to guidance promoted by an Anglican campaign group.

It claims that “not everyone in the Bible is cisgender” – their gender at birth – and says that biblical stories contain “some clear queer characters”.

This argument rests on the treatment of eunuchs in scripture and women taking part in apparently masculine activities in the Bible.

The guidance is contained in resources hosted on the website LGBT Faith UK. A link to the document states: “The Bible affirms trans, intersex and queer people.”

The text begins by stating: “Not everyone in the Bible is cisgender. Nor is everyone in the Bible biologically or anatomically male or female.

“In the Bible, the clearest example of this are eunuchs, who can be seen as the biblical ‘ancestors’ of trans people.”

The guidance states that in chapter eight of Acts, an angel is sent to instruct one of the early evangelists to go and seek an Ethiopian eunuch, who he finds reading scripture.

Philip, the evangelist, delivers the Christian message to the eunuch, and subsequently baptises him.

The guidance states that this shows that the eunuch could be “a full member [of the Church] without having to be totally male or totally female. God called him just as he was”.

Emperor Meiji overthrew his own government in 1868 to modernize and save Japan, another island nation, from foreign invasion. Something revolutionary along those lines will be required for Britain.

One thing that helps is that the UK has no written constitution, so the monarch has some latitude.

In order to be trans, you have to suffer from one of several very rare genetic disorders, primarily of the endocrine system. Not all those who have these disorders will experience gender dysphoria and even fewer will remain dysphoric past puberty.

This is talk around. The final determination as to gender is that of the person. God granted man their own free will and if they determine this then it is their decision and not that of God. If a person is born with a set of genitals for one sex and decides to be the other, then that is the person’s decision.

The Bible teaches that God gave humans free will, the ability to make their own decisions and act in ways that go against God’s will. The Bible also teaches that God is sovereign and that humans are responsible for their actions. It falls under Genesis 1:26: God created humans in his image, and like God, humans have free will.

But choosing to move away from God’s voice is not living a world of peace and comfort. It is, like in this case, challenging society here in the US and creates a wall separating others. Not living within the words of the Bible is a choice. And they have that privilege awarded by God. Their coming to atonement will be the final determination.
