Public Advocate Jumaane Williams is a self-described democratic socialist whose office is likely best known for publishing a list of the 100 worst landlords in the city each year. Although Williams, through his policies, has done little to endear himself to the real estate community during his career, not everyone in the industry is concerned about what will happen if he becomes the acting mayor if Mayor Eric Adams resigns or is removed.

There’s just nothing left,” rescue crew leader Chris Murray told the outlet. “I’ve never seen concentrated damage like we’ve seen here.”

The 64-year-old's body is believed to have been intact when it was pulled from the rubble, suggesting he had not sustained physical wounds as the building around him exploded. Instead, he had suffocated as toxic fumes leeched into the underground shelter where he was hiding, Israel's Channel 12 reported on Sunday evening. The report suggested he was likely to have died in "agony" as the fumes and smoke from the explosions gradually filled the buried room, and made breathing impossible.... Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had been close friends with Nasrallah, has called for vengeance and urged Muslims...

Inflation is pernicious and widespread – silently siphoning the purchasing power of the U.S. Federal Reserve note “dollar” from the savings of the American people year after year. Meanwhile, central banks all over the globe – from Saudi Arabia to China to Egypt and beyond – are buying gold at breakneck pace. Some global banks, including the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), are even considering a non-dollar alternative to the Federal Reserve note for global trade settlement. As geopolitical uncertainty increases, precious metals have gained renewed attention; savers, savvy investors, businesses, and even state treasurers are taking...

The Kremlin on Monday condemned the killing of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli air attack last week and said it assessed the risk of a major Middle East war as "extremely high". "The main thing is that such indiscriminate bombing of residential areas in Lebanon leads to a huge number of human casualties, which will inevitably bring on a humanitarian catastrophe like the one we are seeing in Gaza,"...
