Russia Says Risk of Big Regional War Very High After Killing of Hezbollah Leader
U.S. News ^ | 9/30/2024 | Reuters

The Kremlin on Monday condemned the killing of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli air attack last week and said it assessed the risk of a major Middle East war as "extremely high".

"The Russian side condemns such actions, we believe that they have led to a significant destabilisation of the situation in the region," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The main thing is that such indiscriminate bombing of residential areas in Lebanon leads to a huge number of human casualties, which will inevitably bring on a humanitarian catastrophe like the one we are seeing in Gaza," he added, expressing Moscow's "deepest concern".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the killing of Nasrallah at the weekend as a political assassination and the Russian foreign ministry in a statement called on Israel to immediately stop hostilities in Lebanon.

This whole war path we’re on today reminds me a lot of the movie: Dr Strangelove and how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057012/

This is surreal!

I have begun to think that these people in leadership consider themselves geniuses, but are imbeciles and weirdos in all reality.

Russia actually probably has this right. Shia believe that the Head Hezbollah terrorist was a descendent of Mohamed. Just read an article about it. Regional conflict means Iran attacking Israel again. No shock there.

Ever since Biden and Obama started funding and supporting Iran (Release of money, or high price of oil) they have gotten way out of control. Now, we hear that Iran is planning to kill Trump by shooting down his private plane. I don’t know what the Department of Homeland Security and it’s subsidiaries have planned next for an attempt. Looks like the Media and the Deep state are trying to conjure up a new conflict to distract people, and spend more treasury money.

Since it appears that the pro-Iranian portion of the Democratic party is running the White House and making decisions, expect catastrophic ‘incompetence’ in protecting American interests.

“indiscriminate bombing of residential areas in Lebanon”

Russia lies badly.

Was one of the most beautifully targeted attacks in history.

“Well it is definitely not that.”

And even that is still misunderstood. Hezballah is not a country. It is an organization of like believers that are of the opinion that violence is the key to destruction of Israel. They wear no uniforms, they fly no flags at an embassy, they are not in the UN or any other international peace group, and they are willing to die for their harm as they are led to believe they will be rewarded for it in the next life.

Their only need besides the weaponry they use is a place to hide. Take way that place and they are unable to set up shop and kill for their “religion” in safety. And if a country wishes to house them, and refuses to understand or defy their evil using of their country, then the country is just as guilty of the crimes against humanity the terrorists are performing. They are not victims, they are perpetraitors. And they need to be treated like the others they house if they get in the way. It’s called collateral damage or suicide in some situations. And that’s how you get rid of terrorists. Chase them out of their stronghold into the open. You won’t kill all of them. But you will cut back on their ability to kill. And that responsibility belongs to Lebanon if they want to do it the peaceable way. Otherwise, don’t complain about what you get. You created it.

I kind of thought Oct 7, 2023 was a destabilization event.

Russia is concerned about what happens to its stake in Syria (a port on the Mediterranean, airfields, etc.) if Hezbollah is weakened to the extent that it can no longer support Assad as much as previously.

If Assad falls, what then?

IMHO , whom ever is pulling their strings wants to destroy the relative peace we have seen in the region by flipping the balance of power from the Sunis in Saudi Arabia to the virulently anti Western Shia in Iran, knowing this will start a war between Israel and Iran which will quickly escalate into nuclear exchanges and WW III.
