On CNN this morning, host Kasie Hunt described the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in blunt, truthful terms as:"A massive failure by the Secret Service."Moments later, when panelist Elliott Williams, in the context of a discussion of unverified information on social media, made mention of people floating the notion of an "inside job," Hunt shut him down, saying:"We don't want to get into that."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

David Frum, a prominent “Never Trump” pundit and former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, published an article on Sunday in the Atlantic blaming former President Donald Trump for his own attempted assassination. Trump narrowly survived the attempt on his life when a bullet from a high-powered rifle grazed his ear during a rally in Pennsylvania. One man in the crowd, former fire chief Corey Comperatore, was killed; two others were injured (not including the assassin, who was immediately shot by the Secret Service).

The trigger in the gun was pulled by many hands! The media tried to assassinate Trump. From the time he came powerfully down that escalator in New York, looking every bit the prize fighter he exhibited yesterday, the press was and is merciless. They have mocked him and attacked, slandered and defamed him, but they have not taken him out. The Democrats have tried to assassinate Trump. They called him illegitimate, they called him a tyrant; President Biden who went all wobbly tonight, is still calling him a threat to democracy; many have wished him dead. Thank G-d that wish...

Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, says Saturday night’s shooting at President Donald Trump’s rally, is a “catastrophic failure” of the Secret Service. “This is an obviously catastrophic failure and NO excuses should be made, or even attempted,” Bongino posted on X. “The failures are profound and questions must be answered about ground surveillance, air surveillance, post-stander support, and counter-sniper advance work and response. We have ONE job, and we came within inches of a deadly failure today. An uneventful failure is NOT a success.” Bongino also said he was in touch with other former Secret Service colleagues.

The 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday was described by former classmates as a bullied loner with a penchant for hunting outfits and video games. Thomas Matthew Crooks was killed by the Secret Service on Saturday evening after he opened fire at the Butler Farm Show grounds, grazing Trump and killing another attendee. Crooks – who graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022 – was a loner who was “relentlessly” bullied, former classmate Jason Kohler told KDKA. He was known for wearing “‘hunting’” outfits to class, Kohler added. The classmate also...

Theodore Roosevelt’s opening line was hardly remarkable for a presidential campaign speech: “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible.” His second line, however, was a bombshell. “I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot.” Clearly, Roosevelt had buried the lede. The horrified audience in the Milwaukee Auditorium on October 14, 1912, gasped as the former president unbuttoned his vest to reveal his bloodstained shirt. “It takes more than that to kill a bull moose,” the wounded candidate assured them. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a bullet-riddled, 50-page...

Please see the video below. Which happened? A)The police sharpshooter raises his head suddenly, lowers his head and fires one shot, the rifle recoils, then no visual of who is shooting but audio: 2 shots, then a cluster of shots. I think assassin fired 2 shots, cops killed him. Or B) The police sharpshooter raises his head, then ducks at the sound of the assassin's shot, jerking his rifle barrel upward as he ducks. Assassin shoots twice more, police kill him. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2024/07/13/video-of-u-s-secret-service-spotting-and-watching-shooter-prior-to-shots-doing-nothing-then-flinching-with-inbound-bullets/

A staff member of a Mississippi Democratic congressman took to social media and said she wished the shooter who tried to take Donald Trump's life had better aim. On Saturday evening, shortly after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, attempted to assassinate the former president during a rally in Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Marsaw, the field director for Mississippi Congressman Bennie G. Thompson shared a vile post on Facebook about the attack. Trump was left bloodied and hurt during the assassination attempt as he was seen suddenly grabbing hold of his ear as loud bangs rang out and whizzed by before he ducked to...

The Target store on 2505 Riverside Blvd. in Land Park was warned by Sacramento City Attorney Susana Alcala Wood's office that it would be fined for repeatedly reporting thefts. "Ten years ago voters approved Prop 47," Wood explained. "This amended the law by converting thefts of less than $950 from a felony to a misdemeanor. This combined with various 'defund the police' measures means law enforcement doesn't have the resources to respond to misdemeanors. As it is, fewer than 10% of vehicle thefts, which do exceed the $950 felony line, result in an arrest. Retailers shouldn't be wasting our time...

The right-leaning media and pundits are excited: Marine Le Pen’s party gained twice as many seats in recent French elections. The left-leaning media and commentariat are thrilled, too: Le Pen’s right-wing party won the popular vote but landed only third place in the French National Assembly. If both sides of the political spectrum are so enthusiastic, it could mean only one thing: something is missing here. The answer lies most likely in conflating two different political spectra: absolute and relative. Since Stalin proposed the modern relative political spectrum, it garnered popularity, and members of the Frankfurt School of socialism brought...

This video gives a good analysis of security lapses. Freepers also mention having a drone overhead, which to my mind is a great and cheap observational tool. A tool that s.s security has missed out on. Anyway, this guy also goes into what some would describe as conspiracy theory. But he still makes a lot of valid points about security lapses.

Many conservatives and Trump supporters partially blame the heated rhetoric of left-wing voices for the shooting. According to them, Saturday’s shooting was the inevitable conclusion of the constant stream of Trump-Hitler comparisons and claims that Republicans are an existential threat to democracy that media outlets and Democrats have been peddling for years now. One such Democrat who engaged in such rhetoric was none other than President Joe Biden himself. For example, on Sept. 1, 2022, the president gave a speech during which he called Trump and his supporters extremist threats to the country. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent...

I don’t know why a Republican would try and kill his party’s own nominee with an assault rifle. But it’s wrong. Violence has never been the answer. Violence is not the answer. Violence will never be the answer.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump would not impact incumbent President Joe Biden’s candidacy. Sanders said, “I think everybody in this country, no matter what their political views are, wishes former President Trump a rapid and speedy recovery, mourns the loss of innocent lives and those who are wounded and understands that political violence of any kind or shape or form is unacceptable. It is un-American and we’ve got to put an end to it. I think in this traumatic moment it’s time for all of...
