U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs officials testified during a Wednesday House hearing that the department would not comply with proposed legislation barring it from sending certain information about U.S. military veterans to the federal government’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The VA reasons that reliance on a fiduciary indicates a beneficiary is mentally incompetent. Federal law states firearms dealers receive a “deny message” if a NICS check for a potential buyer determines the buyer has been adjudicated as a mental defective. … Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) challenged the VA witnesses later on in the hearing to explain their...

If I have any accurate arrows of faith or pragmatic hope left in my quiver, then I am correct in thinking that Donald Trump made this decision a long time ago, and the Vice President nominee has long known exactly what the plan is. If my “begin with the end in mind” thinking is incorrect; well, then we’re in bigger trouble than 99% of MAGA Americans can fathom. ... I’m not looking at the current landscape, I’m out here with a well-worn machete looking at where we are heading. And I’m telling you those same systems, voices and financial networks...

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni appeared visibly annoyed on Thursday while world leaders awaited the tardy appearance of President Joe Biden at the NATO summit in Washington, DC. Meloni checked her watch, appeared to realize she was not wearing a watch, rolled her eyes, looked heavenward in exasperation, and scowled. International media had a field day with Meloni’s unsubtle expressions of annoyance. The New York Post thought the episode was even more amusing because Meloni was not mugging for the cameras. She did not seem to realize she was on video until after she delivered the biggest eye roll since...

U.S. — Despite rising tension within the Democratic Party and uncertainty regarding President Joe Biden's cognitive capacity and fitness to remain in the presidential race, former President Barack Obama reassured the nation that he is still running the country. Obama's calming message that he remained in firm control of the United States came as a relief to millions of Americans who had begun to believe that their country was being supervised by a mentally defective dementia patient who lost his grasp of reality years ago. "Don't worry, America, I'm still at the wheel," Obama said in a brief public...

The last embedded myth about Joe Biden is that he’s a decent man. Like the rest of his life’s story, his “decency” is a made-up contrivance. ... No, he is not a decent man. He’s never been a decent man. Before Joe Biden drifted into complete incoherence, he was a nasty, vindictive "Queen of Hearts" who fell upwards his entire career. And he’s lied all the way while doing it. He’s abused the truth like a wife-beating drunk beats his mate. He’s always been a miserable human being, but now he’s a cognitive mess who can’t be prosecuted because he’s...

Eight years of madness have brought America to the doorstep of its perfect WWE ending. Let's get ready to rumbleSlowly, as if pulled by cats, the name of Hillary Clinton is making its way into editorial speculations about the Democratic nomination. My podcast partner Walter Kirn wrote the following on June 28th. Why won’t he be right?Clinton-Trump II is the disgusting, lurid, embarrassing, corrupt, pornographic, score-settling, possibly cathartic cage-fight the country needs to have. ..... More than “defending democracy” or beating back “fascism,” the dominant concern of blue-party politics for years has been the urge to re-litigate the Great Disobedience.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology made headlines in May when its leaders told faculty to discontinue the practice of requiring mandatory diversity, equity and inclusion statements in faculty hiring. It blazed a trail for elite colleges, as Harvard did the same a few weeks later, and Cornell also appears to have followed suit. But a prominent MIT alumni group argues the move is not enough to protect free speech, academic freedom and intellectual diversity, and is calling on campus leaders to go further. The MIT Free Speech Alliance in mid-June released a set of recommendations urging the university to establish...

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Sen. Manchin suggested that clarity about Biden’s intentions in the upcoming election might soon emerge. When asked by NBC’s Ryan Nobles about Biden’s capability to continue his campaign and serve another term, Manchin responded evasively, urging the public to “wait until this weekend” for a more definite perspective.
