But a fish rots from the head and, thanks to his inept leadership, Biden’s government has weakened America’s security, its economic stability and its international standing. These...

"And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" " Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,...

Astana, Kazakhstan, where Athanasias Schneider is a Bishop, seems a remote backwater. Except that various rising, non-aligned nations are making it a center of geo-strategic planning. The Mackinder Thesis, The Geographical Pivot of History, is that whoever controls the heartland of Eurasia controls the world. Astana is not a strategic backwater. From this location at the center of the world, where key events are unfolding, Bishop Schneider offers astonishing insights in his catechism that are not original in any sense of the word, but are in the true tradition of the Catholic faith. One of them is that, far from...

Gun law restrictions have no impact on the rate of homicides between states, a study has shown. Researchers at Duke University compared gun laws across the US, including states with and without background checks, 'stand your ground' laws and safe storage requirements. They found there was no difference in homicide rates in states with or without firearm laws and restrictive access, a finding they said 'surprised' them. Since 2020, firearms have ranked as the leading cause of death for children under 18 years old, accounting for more fatalities than traffic accidents and cancer combined. However, the regulations were a lifesaver...

In an effort to bring politics into the modern age and more in line with its sister industries like sports and professional wrestling, prominent politicians have announced plans for each of them to begin using their own entrance theme songs. In a world exclusive, The Babylon Bee has obtained the following list of songs to be used as entrance themes for some of the country's most well-known political figures: 1. Nancy Pelosi — "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits: A song that encapsulates Pelosi's trademark "get rich without having to do anything" outlook on life. 2. Alejandro Mayorkas — "Immigrant...

The U.S. government’s immigration policy raises inflation pressures in some parts of the economy, but also reduces it in other parts of the economy, Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell told Sen. JD. Vance (R-OH). “Overall, in terms of aggregate inflation, I wouldn’t say it’s a driver [of inflation] one way or the other,” Powell told Vance on July 9. Powell’s admission discredits media-magnified claims by many business interests — including Goldman Sachs — that more migration would help reduce the inflation that has crippled President Joe Biden’s administration. That unfounded claim has been touted by many establishment media outlets, such...

Fearing a floor revolt against his nomination, Joe Biden’s aides are telephoning individual delegates to next month’s Democratic convention to gauge their loyalty to the president, according to three delegates who received a call this week. After a round of introductory questions confirming each delegate was still planning on going to Chicago and asking if they had served as delegate before, the Biden aide making the calls got to the point, the Democratic activists recalled to me in separate interviews. One of the delegates said the line of questioning turned with an inquiry along the lines of, “Do you understand...

If Senator Chuck Schumer, the New York Democrat and majority leader, is known for anything, it is his singular devotion to President Biden’s agenda, which he has helped steer through Congress, and loyalty to Mr. Biden himself, a former Senate colleague whom he admires and respects. But Mr. Schumer is also passionate about his role as his party’s longtime chief Senate race strategist, a hands-on political geek who digs deep into the numbers of every Senate race and is determined to hold both his narrow majority and the White House in November. Over the past two weeks, as Mr. Biden’s...

Military officials under the Biden administration continue to teach that their peaceful political opponents are violent extremists, according to a report about a terrorism presentation given to U.S. Army members at Fort Liberty (the renamed Fort Bragg). Sam Shoemate, an independent journalist and self-described “advocate for service members seeking justice,” posted to X/Twitter Wednesday evening a photograph of a slide he said was shown during an anti-terrorism briefing at Fort Bragg, right after one about the Islamist terror group ISIS.

President Biden’s Cabinet members have been emphatic that the commander-in-chief is sharp and probative behind closed doors. However, the 81-year-old chief executive’s interactions with key members of his administration are actually pre-scripted and carefully choreographed — with aides going over questions and discussion points with Cabinet secretaries ahead of time. “The entire display is kind of an act,” one source told CNN of the closed-door get-togethers. “They would come and say, ‘Hey, the president is going to call on you about 25 minutes in and ask this question. What are the bullet points you’ll respond with?’”

For weeks, the White House press corps has been boiling – and not from the Washington, DC, heat. They’re frustrated. Some feel the White House misled the press before President Joe Biden’s stumbling performance at last month’s CNN presidential debate. Others have been exasperated by the White House’s response since then to questions about the president’s health, often leading to follow-ups and clarifications from the administration on otherwise straightforward questions. And nearly all of the White House correspondents who spoke to CNN for this report felt the president should have held a press conference with reporters in the immediate aftermath...

WASHINGTON — Some longtime aides and advisers to President Joe Biden have become increasingly convinced that he will have to step aside from the campaign, and in recent days they have been trying to come up with ways to persuade him that he should, according to three people briefed on the matter. A small group of Biden’s advisers in the administration and the campaign — at least two of whom have told allies that they do not believe he should keep trying to run for a second term — have said they would have to convince the president of several...

At airports across the U.S., Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents confront flyers as they are boarding flights and ask to search carry-on items. These interactions are supposed to be consensual. But flyers often get the impression that they have no choice but to submit to a search. IJ currently has a class action lawsuit against the DEA and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) over their unconstitutional searches and seizures at U.S. airports. Western-provided F-16 fighter jets are on their way to Ukraine and set to start flying missions later this summer. But they may not yet be enough to make a difference on the battlefield, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated in a discussion this week on what Ukraine needs, comparing the jets to the US-made Abrams tanks that Ukraine got last fall. Asked by Fox News' host Bret Baier at the Reagan Institute if the 31 Abrams Ukraine received as its counteroffensive was already stumbling made a difference, Zelenskyy said: "I'm not sure that such number of tanks can change the situation...

President Biden is slated to hold a press conference Thursday evening at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. The high-stakes moment comes as Biden faces mounting calls from fellow Democrats to step aside in the presidential race and amid scrutiny from the news media over his past health disclosures. The rare solo press conference from Biden will close out the NATO summit, where the president has hosted world leaders this week. Biden’s standing in the presidential race against former President Trump has largely overshadowed this week’s summit. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Explanation: Globular star cluster Omega Centauri packs about 10 million stars much older than the Sun into a volume some 150 light-years in diameter. Also known as NGC 5139, at a distance of 15,000 light-years it's the largest and brightest of 200 or so known globular clusters that roam the halo of our Milky Way galaxy. Though most star clusters consist of stars with the same age and composition, the enigmatic Omega Cen exhibits the presence of different stellar populations with a spread of ages and chemical abundances. In fact, Omega Cen may be the remnant core of a small...
