Four Mississippi Waffle Houses will only serve to-go orders on weekend evenings after 11 p.m. due to safety concerns. Company officials posted the news on social media and said the changes will affect all four locations in Vicksburg. The Vicksburg Post reports that Hope Baker, a Waffle House division manager, said all four Vicksburg locations will begin serving only to-go orders on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. beginning Friday, July 12.

They could have each table in a little separate bulletproof cubicle. Drop the food down on each table with robots that move around above, like an upside-down Amazon warehouse.
Used to love ‘em. Last time went, it was clear that whitey was not welcome.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just put up “No Fighting” and “No Gunplay” signs?
And maybe this sign, too:
Over the years, the Waffle House’s I’ve been to were in respectable areas not far off the Interstates. Never saw anything weird, violent or outrageous. Most seemed to be frequented by whitey’s like me.
Maybe I wasn’t there late enough. Most of the time was breakfast or dinner.
Depends on the location. And the time.
gun free zone sign should fix the problem.
I know of one right off a major interstate here in Texas, whole staff was white and the place was great.
Vicksburg sounds right but I would have guessed Birmingham.
Or is that Alabama?
True there might be different vibe on the night shift.
One of the best breakfasts I ever had was at Waffle House. I sat at the snack bar across from the griddle. The food was piping hot when it was served 10 seconds off the heat.
Bad guys don’t bother with rules.
One mild early Friday evening, the young black manager locked the door and held me in for a moment. He and two burly men from the kitchen staff then talked with and ran off several young black males in the parking lot who were beginning to deal drugs.
When the manager came back in, he shook his head, saying to me, "It's a shame. Those boys are losing their way. No fathers at home and not enough church." In a few words, that Waffle House manager expressed more wisdom than the cumulative work of America's college faculties over several generations.

Over the years there have been several news articles to come out about a little something called the “Waffle House Index.” This index is pretty ingenious—it relies on the open or closed status of the well-known diner chain in disaster-affected areas.
The index itself isn’t just about whether or not you can get pralines on your waffles or if you can get waffles at all, but rather about the damage in a neighborhood.
If a Waffle House can serve a full menu, they’ve likely got power (or are running on a generator). A limited menu means an area may not have running water or electricity, but there’s gas for the stove to make bacon, eggs, and coffee: exactly what hungry, weary people need.

I always check my gun at the door to ensure it’s in place, properly concealed, & ready for any exigencies of safety for me & mine. That is the intent of the sign, right????
😁😉
“ In a few words, that Waffle House manager expressed more wisdom than the cumulative work of America’s college faculties over several generations.”
I can think of a couple of US presidents in this century where that observation applies, as well.
That’s rayciss!
