Immigration judges dismissed deportation cases against some 200,000 migrants under President Biden because the Department of Homeland Security failed to file the required paperwork before their court dates, according to a new report. The DHS’s failure to file thousands of notices to appear before scheduled hearing dates left courts without jurisdiction to handle deportation cases and rule on asylum claims, according to a report released Wednesday by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. “These large numbers of dismissals and what then happens raise serious concerns,” the TRAC report, which includes data through February 2024, states. The nonpartisan research...

A type of bacteria that causes dental plaque may be behind a treatment-resistant form of colorectal cancer, a study published Wednesday in the journal Nature found. The particular bacterium, which appears to shield tumor cells from cancer-fighting drugs, was found in 50% of the tumors tested in the study. The discovery, experts say, could pave the way for new treatments and possibly new methods of screening. Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and is expected to kill more than 53,000 people in the nation in 2024, according to the American Cancer Society. Reports from U.S. outlets surfaced earlier this March, revealing plans to ship the first six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by this summer. Training for twelve Ukrainian pilots, slated for completion by summer this year, is currently ongoing in the countries of Denmark, the U.S., and Great Britain. Simultaneously, these reports highlight that of the roughly 45 fighter jets pledged by Western allies, only a fraction, six F-16s, will be delivered upon the pilots’ return to Ukraine. More so, it appears that training for the pilots at Feteşti Air Base in Romania, situated 150 kilometers east of Bucharest, has suffered...

When a wave of migrants began arriving in Democratic-run cities far from the Southern border two years ago, officials welcomed them with open arms. Now they’re limiting aid to new arrivals as their instinct for compassion confronts hard budgetary realities. In recent days, New York and Chicago — two of the nation’s largest cities — have instituted substantial changes to their shelter policies. In Chicago, the city began evicting migrants who had overstayed a new 60-day time limit, saying it did not have the resources to meet the need. In New York, migrants had benefited from the city’s right to...

Republicans have long shunned the practice of “ballot harvesting” — and with good reason. Trafficking voters’ ballots by the batch is a core Democrat strategy, and even when done legally, the practice makes it harder to detect potential ballot fraud and undermines voter confidence. But with dozens of states permitting legal ballot collection, Republicans can no longer sit back and hope Election Day turnout will be enough to combat Democrats’ tactics. “Ballot harvesting” refers to when a third party, such as volunteers or paid workers, go to residences, nursing homes, and other locations to pick up completed ballots and drop...

A federal appeals court reinstated an injunction on a Texas law that would allow state officials to effectively deport immigrants late Tuesday, hours after a Supreme Court decision that allowed it to go into effect. In a 2-1 decision, a panel of judges at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit paused enforcement of Texas immigrant removal law, S.B. 4, while the Biden administration’s challenge plays out. The two judges in the majority did not explain the decision in Tuesday’s brief order, which also scheduled oral arguments on the issue for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The procedural back-and-forth is...

In a gaping disparity, Americans over 60 are some of the world’s happiest, while those under 30 are among the most miserable in the developed world. Happiness is a relative concept, but an annual index that tracks it in countries around the world has found that the United States and some Western European countries are falling in overall well-being because younger people are feeling less and less happy. “We had picked up in recent years from scattered sources of data that child and youth well-being, particularly so in the United States, had seen a drop,” said Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, professor...

A pregnant Walgreens employee wasn’t allowed to leave work to see her doctor when she began spotting blood, according to a newly settled federal lawsuit. Her manager refused to let her go until someone could fill in for her — but then said “she could not find a replacement for her” at the store in Alexandria, Louisiana, the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says. Now, Walgreens has agreed to pay $205,000 to settle the lawsuit accusing the company of pregnancy and disability discrimination, the EEOC said in a March 15 news release. The company is required...

In November 2022, Rep. Janel Brandtjen, then Chair of the Assembly on Campaigns and Elections, sent out an election fraud alert. Rep. Brandtjen received three authentic military ballots to her home addressed to “Holly,” a woman who has never lived there. Brantjen believed this was part of a scheme to steal votes in Wisconsin. The Gateway Pundit has reported extensively on this 2020 voter fraud scheme in several battleground states where military ballots shockingly went almost entirely to Joe Biden. We posted evidence that this occurred in Michigan, Arizona and Georgia. Later that week Wisconsin radio host Dan O’Donnell broke...

It may be tempting to look at new rules finalized Wednesday by the Biden administration boosting sales of electric vehicles as a big step toward slashing climate-changing pollution. But the Environmental Protection Agency rules are more an incremental move, too weak and slow to respond appropriately to the gravity of the unfolding environmental crisis. And that’s a shame, because with a divided Congress, administrative action is the only way for the federal government to do big things such as protect the public from climate change and pollution. Speed matters, after all, in preventing catastrophic climate impacts, and the longer we...
