The very least parents expect when they send their children to any educational institution is security. This is the safety of both the physical and mental variety. After this safety is provided, the educational institute must provide a forum for a healthy exchange of ideas and debates. Education isn't merely about imparting knowledge but also about challenging students intellectually and compelling them to confront opposing perspectives. This is not a place for dogma but for open-mindedness. A student must be taught to challenge the seemingly immutable and form opinions after digesting facts about any subject from multiple perspectives. An educational...

Not to downplay the damage done by COVID, but we’re still dealing with a far worse disease and will be for some time. It has no medical name but if it did, we’d call it the tyrannococcus. From the top we acknowledge that the novel coronavirus killed millions around the world. This is not a statistic but a procession of tragedies, and they happened despite the policy responses from those who claimed to be our guardians. Now, four years later, the experts are telling us to treat the disease similar to the way we treat the flu. The much-feared “long...

Oh, where to begin in the latest episode of “America’s Judicial Rollercoaster” featuring the audacious blockade by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals against Texas's gallant effort to enforce its own borders? Yes, you heard that right. In a move that could only be concocted in the wildest dreams of a liberal screenplay writer, the appellate court decided to thumb its nose at the U.S. Supreme Court. Why? Simply to prevent Texas from using Senate Bill 4 to do the unfathomable: arrest and deport illegal immigrants. Gasp! The horror of a state taking steps to protect its citizens and...

Once the envy of the world, American medical care continues to be infected with Leftist woke ideology with abysmal and terrifying outcomes. Under the term “health equity” the only parameter that matters appears to be a person’s melanin level, not his need for timely medical treatment. Consequently: More than 10 million nonblack Americans with chronic kidney disease may have seen their treatments or transplants delayed because of policy changes enacted after 2020. Some of those patients now face greater risk of death because national transplant organizations have embraced racial activism.Patients of all races deserve a formula that accurately estimates their...

Protests have continued this week in Cuba over one of the island’s worst ever economic and energy crises as food shortages and blackouts push the country toward the "verge of collapse." Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio took to X on Tuesday to say the disastrous situation was down to Cuba’s long-standing Marxist policies. "The reason Cuba is on the verge of collapse is because Marxism always leads to hunger, poverty and shortages," Rubio said The senator, an ardent critic of the Cuban regime, took to the social media platform to push back on accusations levied by the Cuban Deputy Foreign...

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada has not approved new arms exports permits to Israel since Jan. 8 and this freeze will continue until Ottawa can ensure the weapons are used properly, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Wednesday. Export permits that were approved before Jan. 8 remain in effect, she said in an emailed statement. The political survival of the minority Liberal government depends on support from the left-leaning New Democrats, who are pressuring for a tougher line with Israel over the Gaza conflict. "Canada has one of the most rigorous export permit regimes in the world. There are no open...

Russian President Vladimir Putin was spotted on Capitol Hill ahead of Wednesday’s House impeachment inquiry hearing — sort of. Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) donned a Putin mask ahead of the House Oversight Committee hearing on allegations about the first family’s business dealings overseas in a swipe at Republicans leading the inquiry. “I just came to thank [Oversight Committee Chairman] James Comer for taking all of our intelligence and using it in the committee,” Moskowitz, 43, told reporters as “Putin.” “Maybe he can come see the technology in the grocery stores,” the Democrat added in a reference to conservative pundit Tucker...

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term “bloodbath” as a “major economic disaster,” a characterization used by former President Donald Trump to describe what he believes will happen to America’s auto industry without fierce tariffs on China. During a speech in Ohio last weekend, Trump said: Let me tell you something to China, if you’re listening President Xi — and you and I are friends but he understands the way I deal — those big, monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re going to get that and you’re going to not hire Americans...

“The Passion of Our Lord: ‘Eloi, Eloi, Lema Sabachthani?’” (Mark 15:33-47) “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” So cries Jesus from the cross, as found in Matthew and Mark, where it is the only word from the cross that is recorded. “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” What is so striking about this is that it is spoken, and recorded for us, in another language. That language is Aramaic, which is sort of a cousin to Hebrew. Aramaic was the everyday language that Jewish people like Jesus spoke at that time. And we find several places in the gospels where Jesus’ words in Aramaic...
