A teenage cook whose heroics onboard a warship helped shorten the Second World War has been honoured in his home town after a public vote. The regenerated centre of North Shields, North Tyneside, has been named after Thomas Brown, who was awarded the George Medal for helping to retrieve codebooks from a sinking German U-boat in October 1942. The books were later used to crack the Enigma code by experts at Bletchley Park, enabling the British to decipher Nazi messages. Two naval men died while searching the stricken submarine but Thomas, a 15-year-old civilian who lied about his age to...

A stunning 19th-century Seattle mansion, sold for $6 million, is set to be torn down because its last owners were the Moonies - members of the Unification Church. Nestled on the shores of Lake Washington, the three-story Spanish Mission revival mansion was once home to the family of early pioneers of Seattle, including Rolland Denny, the son of the city's founder, Arthur Denny. Later in the 1970s, it was purchased by the Unification Church when the religion was still in its infancy and served as a domicile for founders Sun Myung Moon, his wife, and their followers. Leonard Garfield, the...

Ukrainian cities are becoming increasingly vulnerable to extensive Russian missile and drone attacks as Kyiv's army might deplete its air defense ammunition by the end of March, according to "The Washington Post". This concerning situation was shared by Ukrainian officials with their European and American counterparts at a security conference last month, as reported by the American newspaper. Until now, Ukraine has had the capacity to intercept four out of every five missiles aiming for its cities. However, this rate might soon drop to merely intercepting one out of five, as informed by one of the officials. The potential decline...

A former Mormon has lifted the lid on the church's bizarre 'baptisms for the dead' - revealing the temple sent her to a cemetery to take pictures of gravestones as a kid and then forced her to participate in a ceremony for the deceased. Alyssa Grenfell, 31, who now works as an assistant principle in Austin, Texas, was raised in a 'devout Mormon family' in Utah, but decided to leave the 'controlling religion' in 2017. She has since dedicated her life to helping others 'navigate their own way out of the LDS church' - releasing her own 'guide' called How...

In the Upper Room Discourse (John 13-16), in the context of His impending trial, crucifixion, burial, resurrection, and departure (His Ascension), Jesus told His disciples that it was to their advantage that He go because when He does, the "Helper" (some translations say Comforter) would come. Jesus was referring to God the Holy Spirit who would convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment, as well as testify of Jesus and guide the believers into all truth (John 14:16-18, 16:5-11). This divine narrative progresses with the Holy Spirit's descent on the Day of Pentecost, as chronicled in...

“In each succeeding war there is a tendency to proclaim as something new the principles under which it is conducted. Not only those who have never studied or experienced the realities of war, but also professional soldiers frequently fall into the error. But the principles of warfare as I learned them at West Point remain unchanged.”― John J. Pershing, My Experiences in the World War There is an old maxim in the military that says, “Generals are always prepared to fight the last war.” The US entered into combat operations after 9/11 expecting to fight the same way it did...

They broke that covenant of mine, so I had to show...

VIDEORemember all the hoopla by the media in June 2002 about the STAR WITNESS of the J6 committee? Not just any witness but the STAR WITNESS. It was supposed to be such a big deal that they even got a TV producer to arrange the testimony as a big production number for the public. Well, Cassidy Hutchinson turned out to the the STAR WITNESS yet her testimony was nothing but third hand hearsay that, as more facts started coming out later, she was forced to issue a FIFTEEN PAGE correction to her testimony. FIFTEEN PAGES. One' could understand a few...

We are “united on this day”, Emmanuel Macron said after meeting Olaf Scholz in Berlin, and “determined never to let Russia win” the war in Ukraine. The studied show of togetherness came after months of all-too public tensions between the two leaders, epitomised by the French president apparently blindsiding the German chancellor by declaring the West had not “ruled out” putting boots on the ground. Also present at Friday’s meeting was Donald Tusk, Poland’s prime minister. Some joked that he was there to keep the peace. “This is a serious moment. A new era is dawning, and we’ll be there,”...

Prepare to read a remarkable statement: “everything is broken in this country.” According to a recent poll, 70 percent -- seventy! -- of Canadians agreed with that assertion. Those surveyed say that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s (radically) Liberal government is too focused on climate change and the war in Ukraine, and not dealing with issues important to them, such as the high -- and rising -- cost of living. “Everything is broken in this country.” Much the same is true in America, where the (radically) progressive Biden administration is obsessed with battling climate change, funding the war in Ukraine, and...

A study provides compelling evidence for clinical practice to direct efforts toward preventing white matter damage in individuals with hypertension in order to protect against cognitive decline and dementia. Gray matter is where the brain cells exist, whereas white matter constitutes the network of nerve fibers that provides the communication connection between different areas of gray matter. The study, led by Dr. Jing Du, found that compared with gray matter, white matter is more vulnerable to raised blood pressure. "Because gray matter has a greater amount of small blood vessels, and therefore a greater supply of blood compared to white...

During the mid and late 1990’s, my mentor and boss at Defense Watch, the late Colonel David Hackworth frequently reported on the military’s descent into the PC maelstrom. What had merely been the rantings of the feminist fringe in Washington in the 1970’s and 80’s, had materialized into policy the moment the great draft dodger swore to protect and defend the constitution in 1993. The self-immolation of a phenomenal fighting force had begun. Highly decorated and a veteran of three wars, Hack knew more than anyone that the Pentagon’s perfumed princes didn’t have the intestinal fortitude nor the foresight to...

In mid-December, I wrote here that the U.S. had set a new annual oil production record: “The U.S. set a new annual oil production record on December 15, based on data from the Energy Information Administration. Although the official monthly numbers from the EIA won’t be released for a couple of months, we can calculate that a new record has been set based on the following analysis.” I could project that new record based on the weekly production numbers from the EIA, but I noted that official confirmation wouldn’t come until sometime this year. On March 11, 2024, the EIA...

Found this excerpt from Sundance on The Conservative Treehouse: In the big picture we see one massive war to control human behavior with multiple fronts. Right now, the battle of greatest impact is taking place around “information.” The Western Governmental system, mostly visible by the various Intelligence Communities, has deployed all their weapons into a massive effort to control information. The TikTok ban is one small part of the much larger fight to control information. When you start to ask what type of information would generate such a massive Western response, perhaps you start to ask the right question. The...

President Biden used his appearance at the Gridiron Club Dinner Saturday evening to rib former President Donald Trump and try to turn the tables on the age-old question haunting his reelection. “One candidate is too old, mentally unfit to be president. The other’s me,” Biden, 81, quipped during his roughly 10-minute speech at the white-tie media event. The jabs come as Biden and his campaign have sought to put more of a spotlight on Trump’s verbal flubs and flagrant mishaps.

Restaurants, recalls and resistance are giving California Gov. Gavin Newsom one of the worst months of his political career. California held its presidential primary election on Super Tuesday, March 5, but it was far from super for the state’s ambitious governor. Voters showed more than a little resistance to passing the ballot measure Newsom had branded with his name and image in TV ads for which he had raised $20 million. Given the razor-close outcome, what was really shocking was the amount spent to oppose the governor’s effort: nothing at all.
