During the mid and late 1990’s, my mentor and boss at Defense Watch, the late Colonel David Hackworth frequently reported on the military’s descent into the PC maelstrom. What had merely been the rantings of the feminist fringe in Washington in the 1970’s and 80’s, had materialized into policy the moment the great draft dodger swore to protect and defend the constitution in 1993.
The self-immolation of a phenomenal fighting force had begun.
Highly decorated and a veteran of three wars, Hack knew more than anyone that the Pentagon’s perfumed princes didn’t have the intestinal fortitude nor the foresight to hit the brakes on the PC runaway train.
By the early 2000’s whatever was left of the magnificent fighting force that won Desert Storm was eroded in 20 years of playing Lawrence of Arabia in the back alleys of Fallujah and in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Under Obama the woke madness accelerated to light speed. Male Army ROTC cadets paraded across the nation’s campuses in red high heels to show empathy with sexual assault victims. Troops of the famous Big Red One, the 1st Infantry Division, which landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day conducted physical training wearing pregnancy simulators. Across the world, commands were ordered to “balance lactation support with readiness.”
Babies were born on US ships of war. Maternity flight suits became the fashion statement of the decade. A cadet at West Point more devoted to communism more than Stalin launched his own ‘great leap forward’ by mocking his superiors and the institutions and nation they swore to defend.
In the last few years, regulations on hair styles have gone completely out the window. Women are allowed to wear long pony tails now. So what if your hair is hanging down to your butt? It’s what makes you happy right? Those practicing their religious beliefs no matter how bizarre are allowed to wear Viking beards, Sikh turbans (we’re not the British) and my personal favorite an army major with Native American ancestry who wears five feathers.
Isn’t that special?
There are more homosexuals in the military now than at a West Hollywood Pride Day celebration. If you drop a grenade, you better kick it to the SAS before you pick it up.
In 2015, women were authorized to serve in the combat arms; you know the guys who actually fight our wars: infantry, armor, armored cavalry, artillery, special forces. It was damn the tampons - full speed ahead as our national security headed right off the cliff.
Trump tried to rebuild the military, but his cries of havoc were met with sharp resistance from globalist lackeys like Secretary of Defense and former General James ‘Mad Chihuahua’ Mattis, who, like Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark ‘Fred Flintstone’ Milley, were intent on sabotaging anything Ringmaster Don attempted to change in the Pentagon.
We are woke, we’re a joke and every bad guy from Timbuktu to Teheran knows it.
For the last few years, watching the US military fail to perform from one end of the world to another is tantamount to viewing a continual rewind of the ski jumper wiping out in the famous Wide World of Sports ‘agony of defeat’ clip.
We have a Navy run by trans admirals that can’t sail from point A to B without hitting a sandbar, in vessels that have become floating love boats minus Gopher, Charo and Soupy Sales. The Navy hasn’t had a surface fight since 1945 and desperately needs a Cap Weinberger buildup to save us from eventual extermination by Wo Fat and the Chinese Navy.
The Army can’t figure out why it has a recruiting problem when it runs ads about two lesbian moms from Santa Monica inspiring their daughter to join the lean green machine. From Montana to Mississippi America’s young men have spoken, the military sucks now. No red-blooded American kid wants to join a military that is no longer a male rite of passage. It’s a Bob Fosse chorus line run by gutless cowards and woke Maoists.
It’s a military with standards so low your dead grandma could be an Army Ranger.
Speaking of the Rangers…
Since 2015, hundreds of women have graduated from what used to be the hardest school physically and mentally in the US Army. About three years ago, a 38 year old mom of two ‘graduated from Ranger School. To quote that immortal sage of wisdom Inspector Harry Callahan…”well, that sounds very stylish.”
Talk about a bridge too far…38 year old mommies graduating from Ranger School. Sorry, that dog just don’t hunt.
Men used to crawl out of Ranger School with their newly won tabs, 80 pounds lighter, looking like liberated inmates of Dachau. Strangely, all the women who graduate now are plump and reportedly given endless chances to pass, recycle, extra sleep, daily showers, all in the name of diversity and my favorite woke term, equity…
Isn’t it funny though when you want to win wars you don’t bring the girls’ club with you. Haven’t seen too many women fighting in the Ukraine have you, or in Gaza and please don’t send me pictures of Israeli women in the border security units or EOD, that’s not the combat arms.
In the latest act of woke madness, the United States Military Academy or West Point announced that the centuries old motto Duty,Honor, Country would be replaced with ‘Army Values’ in its mission statement.
In the standard woke double speak of the day, West Point commandant stated, Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland said in a statement that “Duty, Honor, Country is foundational to the United States Military Academy's culture and will always remain our motto."
Well, if it’s foundational General, why is it being taken out of the mission statement?
MacArthur is rolling his grave. What woke fools like Gilland don’t understand is that men have died for those words, Duty, Honor, Country.
MacArthur said it best in his speech to the cadets at West Point in 1962:
The long gray line has never failed us. Were you to do so, a million ghosts in olive drab, in brown khaki, in blue and gray, would rise from their white crosses, thundering those magic words: Duty, Honor, Country.
But, MacArthur was not speaking only of the officer corps, he was speaking about the American soldier:
In twenty campaigns, on a hundred battlefields, around a thousand campfires, I have witnessed that enduring fortitude, that patriotic self-abnegation, and that invincible determination which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people.
From one end of the world to the other, he has drained deep the chalice of courage.
I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death. They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we would go on to victory. Always for them: Duty, Honor, Country. Always their blood, and sweat, and tears, as they saw the way and the light.
Duty, Honor, Country has been replaced with Give Me Wokeness, or Give me Death!
No doubt the million ghosts are not happy right now. Why should they be? Woke perfumed princes like General Gilland are destroying the very foundations of the US military and weakening us in the process. The US military is now a haven for left wing nuts who wish to tear down everything that is pure and sacred in this nation, in the spirit of their cultural revolution.
I think it’s safe to say that the current generation of senior US military leadership is the worst generation of US military leadership - bar none.
How the military allowed itself to be taken over by Maoists is a subject for a whole Ph.D dissertation. The US military and national security leadership have gone from being 90% conservative or at least JFK Democrats to 90% leftist in 25 years.
I’m sorry to say that my generation destroyed the US military. We knew better. Our mentors were all Vietnam vets who had borne the scars of that war and its effects on the nation. The military was rebuilt, resulting in Norman Schwarzkopf’s spectacular force that blew out the world’s fourth largest army in 44 days. After Desert Storm, the Vietnam vets retired and the oxygen left the military. By the late 90’s and early 2000’s, any brass left who dissented; men who saw the handwriting on the wall were shown the door and given a coupon for a 4 PM 8.99 roast beef dinner at Denny’s.
And, now in 2024, any dissent, any at all is met with a bombardment by the press of how the person in question is a male chauvinist, a dinosaur, a right wing nut, or God help us all, that eternal scapegoat, the Trump supporter. Any dissenters, men and women with conscience and common sense in the military are quickly retired or discharged under the guise of “the person implemented a toxic leadership style,” or my favorite, “the general was an 80’s type of leader and didn’t mesh with the current command climate.” Which means the guy was there to actually train for war, instead of conducting briefings with topics like, “my commander, Captain Bob is pregnant.”
Where is this all heading to…a monumental ass kicking by an enemy that will show up to battle with only men, with ships, planes, tanks, not just Joe Habibi in an alley with an AK-47 and an IED hidden in an Afri Cola can. We’re going to be facing Joe Montana and Bill Walsh’s West Coast offense when we can’t beat a Pop Warner team.
The Russians and Chinese run hoo-ahh military commercials that resemble ours from the 1980’s. Remember those?
We run ads about how my two lesbian moms in Santa Monica inspired me to join the army.
Our national defense is now run on a fantasy and our military is led by woke fools. The agony of defeat is coming soon to a battlefield near you.
And, there is no thrill of victory. The day will come when thousands of young Americans return home from a future war in flag draped trash bags, victims of cowardice and ineptitude by those in power.
And, when the American public who largely knows nothing about the military and who never served starts asking questions to those who sent them, the feather merchants of Arlington will be safely ensconced in their Fairfax and Chevy Chase four bedroom colonial homes, waiting for their next check from the US treasury, muttering their rallying cry of - -
