…….But in the words of a cynical internet meme: Pics, or it didn't happen. And, as Apollo moon-landing deniers have taught us, even pictures sometimes aren't enough to convince folks inclined to believe conspiracy theories. So the Indian Space Research Organization — NASA's counterpart — obliged skeptics, sharing a photo of its Chandrayaan-3 lander on the ground, with one leg visibly sticking out. Not since Angelina Jolie presented at the Oscars in 2012 has a leg had such an illustrious moment. "And here at last is ISRO issuing an official post-landing image from the Chandrayaan-3 lander, which is the final...

A group of concerned citizens in Missouri is accusing their local school district of misleading them about the presence of what they say are sexually explicit books in school libraries and keeping them in the dark about the process it undertakes to review such materials. They have a combined eight children or grandchildren who attend school in the district. The group has put together a Facebook page outlining their concerns...

One of the nation's largest teachers unions in America has reportedly offered instruction to teachers on how to insert lessons on gender identity into classroom discussions, according to a right-leaning public policy institute. The Defense of Freedom Institute, founded by two former Trump administration Department of Education officials, released a report earlier this month describing the topics promoted by the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Before its Together Educating America's Children (TEACH) conference in July, DFI noted that AFT released a resolution on LGBT issues that touted "age-appropriate and inclusive" bathroom and locker room policies. In...

While choosing to retire in Florida isn’t the best choice for everyone, relocating to the Sunshine State comes with its share of benefits. Of course, some people move to Florida for the warm weather and plentiful beaches, but that’s not all the state has to offer. Florida happens to be one of the most tax-friendly states for retirees, and plenty of out-of-state retirees are taking notice. For example, Kiplinger previously reported on migration data showing that Florida gained residents from high-tax states. (Between 2020 and 2021, more than 84,000 new Florida residents came from New York alone.) 10 Most Tax-Friendly...

Scientists have discovered a potential target for gastric cancers associated with Epstein-Barr Virus. In the paper, Wistar's Tempera lab investigates the epigenetic characteristics of gastric cancer associated with the Epstein-Barr Virus: EBVaGC. Italo Tempera, Ph.D. and collaborators demonstrate that an epigenetically active compound called decitabine disrupts the genome of EBVaGC by epigenetically modifying the cancer's DNA. "What we have identified is essentially a self-destruct button within this kind of cancer, and our paper shows that we figured out how to press that self-destruct button," said Tempera. "Normally, a latent virus that reactivates and starts to kill cells is a bad...

The headlines have returned: a new COVID variant may lead to the renaissance of enthusiasm for mask mandates. Though some may be thinking, “Not again,” there are many who never stopped living as they did in those two years when fear—symbolized by the face covering worn alone while driving vehicles and even when exercising—became a religion heralded by media and public health officials. However, Priscilla Romans, a former nurse and now a patient advocate, told The Epoch Times that there’s a better way. “People need to be empowered to take their health care back into their own hands so that...

Researchers at Huntsman Cancer Institute identified potential new treatment options for people with endometrial cancer. Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological cancer and high levels of estrogen promote its development. The study discovered that estrogen receptor mutations found in endometrial cancers cause large changes in endometrial cancer cells. Estrogen is a reproductive hormone that binds and activates estrogen receptors. Cancer can cause estrogen receptors to remain in a state of constant activity. That increases shedding of the endometrial lining. "Our goal was to characterize estrogen receptor mutations in endometrial cancer to see how they affected gene expression, along with...

Patients report that a ketogenic diet (KD) improves multiple sclerosis (MS) symptoms, according to a study. Emma Wetmore and colleagues evaluated patient perceptions of the KD. The analysis included three-month follow-up from 52 participants with relapsing MS previously enrolled in a prospective six-month KD trial. The researchers found that 21 percent of participants reported continued adherence to a strict KD, while 37 percent reported adhering to a liberalized, less restrictive form of the KD. At the end of the trial, participants with greater reductions in body mass index and fatigue while on the diet were more likely to continue on...

A luxury Italian hotel has been forced to apologize after it covered a bikini-clad woman in chocolate as part of a dessert buffet — with a teenage girl among the guests left with a sour taste from the “disgusting” display. Federico Mazzieri said he and his 14-year-old daughter were staying at the Voi Colonna Village in Sardinia when a female employee was slathered in chocolate syrup and made to lie on a table of dessert offerings for at least 30 minutes. The HR manager shared a photo to his LinkedIn, writing of his and his daughter’s disgust at the hotel...
