On the Trail: Why Bernie Sanders is back in NH on Saturday
Concord Monitor ^ | 08/26/2023 | Staff

Longtime progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders returns to the New Hampshire on Saturday, a trip that’s sure to generate plenty of political buzz ahead of next year’s presidential primaries.

Sanders will deliver a speech entitled “The Agenda America Needs” at Saint Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics that a release from the populist independent senator highlighted will “lay out a concrete agenda which speaks to the needs of a long-neglected working class.” *** “The American people are increasingly disgusted at the growing levels of income and wealth inequality in our country and the rampant corporate greed we are seeing.”

Sanders, who won the 2016 and 2020 Democratic presidential primaries in the longtime first-in-the-nation primary state, will deliver his speech at the Institute, which for over two decades has been a must-stop for White House hopefuls.

And his latest trip to New Hampshire is sparking speculation. *** President Joe Biden – whose approval ratings have remained in negative territory for nearly two years – appears to be keeping his distance from New Hampshire after the Democratic National Committee approved a presidential nomination calendar change suggested by Biden which moves the Granite State from its longtime and cherished leadoff position. With the state likely to hold an unsanctioned contest to keep its first-in-the-nation position, it’s doubtful that the president will step foot in New Hampshire until after the end of the primary schedule.

“We invited him, but he’s coming here for a reason,” New Hampshire Institute of Politics executive director Neil Levesque told the Monitor, as he discussed the Sanders speech. “I think it opens the door for a lot of other sorts of thoughts about whether or not Biden’s going to be the nominee, whether or not Biden is going to be running in next year’s presidential election.”

The grifter is back, every 4 years. Is he there to deflect attention away from RFK,Jr? Or is he there to support Biden? Either way, I’m sure he will be lining his pockets.

“I own not one, but three houses,” Sen. Sanders added. “Please don’t ask me anything about them.”

“populist independent senator highlighted will “lay out a concrete agenda which speaks to the needs of a long-neglected working class”

Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Obama and Biden already fixed that. :-)

I was listening to a YouTube comedienne the other day. She was cracking all sorts of political jokes. Here’s what she said about the Bern:

“Bernie Sanders always looks like he just came from a car accident.”

🤣

Bernie Sanders wired $200K in campaign money to family nonprofit
By Ryan King, nypost.com, August 9, 2023

Sen. Bernie Sanders‘ (Ind-Vt.) campaign committee wired $200,000 earlier this year to a nonprofit established by his wife and stepson, filings show.

The Friends of Bernie Sanders made the payments to the Sanders Institute in two installments of $100,000 in January and March, according to disclosures with the Federal Election Commission.

Those outlays are the largest from the pro-Sanders committee this year.

Fox News first reported on the contribution.

The senator’s wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the think tank and unveiled it publicly in 2017 after Sanders’ insurgent 2016 presidential campaign catapulted him to stardom among progressives....... whereby Sanders is said to have amassed a $74 million fortune.

Not much is known about the think tank’s output, though it appears to be paltry.

The group’s website primarily consists of links to articles
on other outlets by “fellows” like former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. The website also includes a vertical marking a conference of progressives in Burlington, Vt. called “The Gathering.” That event took place in the fall of 2018.

In 2019, the group briefly halted its operations while the Vermont senator vied for the presidency in 2020, though they appear to have resumed since then.

The Sanders Institute’s stated mission is to “revitalize democracy by actively engaging individuals, organizations and the media in the pursuit of progressive solutions to economic, environmental, racial and social justice issues.”

More than one-third of the nonprofit’s income appears to have been spent on salaries, according to its 2021 tax forms.

Driscoll, the executive director, was compensated $152,653 in salary and other benefits, per those documents.

One of the Institute’s biggest expenditures was the “Timeline Project,” which it described as a “resource based on Bernie Sanders work over four decades that will be one of
the key pilars [sic] of the website.”

The group spent $159,885 on that endeavor in 2021, the tax filings said.

Prior to the launch of the Sanders Institute, the Independent senator was harshly critical of then-rival Hillary Clinton over the Clinton Foundation.

“If you ask me about the Clinton Foundation, do I have a problem when a sitting secretary of state and a foundation run by her husband collects many millions of dollars from foreign governments, governments which are dictatorships?” Bernie Sanders told CNN at the time.

“You don’t have a lot of civil liberties or democratic rights in Saudi Arabia, you don’t have a lot of respect there for opposition points of view, for gay rights, for women’s rights. Do I have a problem with that? Yeah, I do.”

It is not fully apparent who has donated to the Sanders Institute based on its tax records.

The Post contacted a Sanders representative and the Sanders Institute for comment.

Bernie Sanders was last elected to the Senate in 2018 and is up for reelection in 2024.

Senate Democrats must defend 23 seats this cycle, including all three held by their aligned Independents. Republicans only have to safeguard 11 Senate seats.

Of course, the wealthy have used the, “My foundation” tax loophole strategy for decades. Bernie always rages about taxing the rich, but he uses THE EXACT same strategies to protect his millions.

That’s funny because Trump is being Indicted for taking files all presidents take. Bernie is commingling campaign funds and personal assets. Which is a finacial crime, oh and also a felony. So much for “no one is above the law”

I have a plan for Bernie. He can sell his three mansions and give the proceeds to some
random Negroes. This will help Bernie atone for his White Supremacy. How dare Bernie
chime out "All Lives Matter"!

No, we’re increasingly disgusted with the ever-growing government interfering in our daily lives. I don’t give a damn if somebody has 100x the money I have. I care about my freedom.

"Longtime progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders..."

Didja ever notice that the only actually 'progressive' thing that 'progressives' like, is a Progressive Income Tax, whereby the wealth is confiscated from everyone (other than from themselves, who are somehow exempted)?

“lay out a concrete agenda which speaks to the needs of a long-neglected working class.”

Neglected? How about actively abused. Every time they start making a little reaction on the wage front, businesses cry "labor shortage" and demand the borders be opened even wider.

He also lived on a Marxist kibbutz.

I heard that his commune-mates didn't like him because he was more interested in talking about communism than actually cleaning and peeling the potatoes for dinner. He saw himself as one of the pigs in Animal Farm doing the "brain work" while others did the actual labor.

“Why is she dressed like a cow?”

Too funny — look at the “Let Dairy Die” sign behind her.

I guess they only drink Kombucha up that way.
