New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg suffered a major setback in his garbage lawsuit against President Trump on Friday. Bragg was hoping to drag former First Lady Melania Trump into his lawfare suit against the president. But New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan surprisingly quashed a pair of subpoenas by Bragg seeking Melania Trump’s emails. Judge Merchan said the subpoenas were too broad in scope. Bragg was hoping to drag Melania Trump into the case to harass and embarrass her.

Historian Peter Turchin predicted the turbulence of 2020. He tells me why, in 2024, America will reach a ‘break point.’ Peter Turchin is not like most historians. For starters, he has an unusual background as an evolutionary biologist studying lemmings and mice. He says that analyzing the complexities of the natural world has allowed him to understand the most complex system of all: human society. He has pioneered a field of history that he calls cliodynamics that applies hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of historical data points to a mathematical model in order to understand the present and to predict...

"Based on the evidence I've seen so far, I think the number is going to be north of $50 million that we're talking about here," Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said Friday on "Mornings with Maria." "This will go down as one of the most politically corrupt presidents and families in U.S. history," she added. "And we've got to show and prove it to the American people. We've got to show them everything that we have." Other committee members have signaled that up to $100 million flowed through the then-second family, as Hunter Biden and his foreign business dealings are currently...

The Antichrist according to Saint Pius X: An Unexpected Interpretation of the “Abomination of Desolation”120 years ago, on August 4, 1903, the pontificate of Pope Saint Pius X began. Two months later, on October 4, 1903, his first encyclical, E Supremi,[i] was published in order to describe the pontifical program represented by the motto “Instaurare Omnia in Christo” (To restore all things in Christ), used as a subtitle for the text. Revolving around the first verse of the second Psalm of King David, the beginning of the document was dedicated to the situation of the Church in the modern world:“The...

CNN - Here’s a hot take on the summer of 2023: The climate you grew up in is gone, replaced by something new and changing, but also inalterably different – where the Atlantic Ocean can reach hot-tub temperature, heat is a recurring public health concern and people will have to adapt their way of living. In this year of epic heat, it’s time to start thinking about how the climate changed rather than the fact of its changing. From a historical standpoint, we are in uncharted territory. This is not just the hottest month in human history. It may be...

BOSTON (Reuters) - Vice President Kamala Harris has shown a punchy side during a tour of nearly a dozen U.S. states in recent weeks, attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for backing "revisionist history" about slavery, telling Iowa healthcare workers to rebel against the state's new restrictive abortion laws and rallying Latinos in Chicago to fight "extremist" Republicans. The high-profile speeches are part of an expanded role for U.S. President Joe Biden's much-scrutinized governing partner ahead of the election, senior Democrats say. She'll engage in many more campaign-style events in months to come, designed to reacquaint Harris with loyal supporters, burnish...

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed two bills banning “conversion therapy” for minors who identify as homosexual or transgender, turning healthcare providers and parents who do not accept their children were “born in the wrong body” into criminals. Media coverage of the bills focuses on therapy “intended to change a person’s sexual orientation” but alsos ban therapy aimed at persuading girls they are girls and boys they are boys, rather than “transgender”. House Bill 4617 defines conversion therapy as “any practice or treatment by a mental health professional that seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including,...

America's oldest intercollegiate black fraternity will not be returning to Florida for its biennial convention. Orlando, Florida, was picked to host Alpha Phi Alpha's national convention in 2025 for its 97th gathering. Instead, it will be hosted in Dallas because of the, as the fraternity alleges, "harmful, racist, and insensitive policies against the Black community” from the office of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). “Our intent is to ensure that, where we spend our dollars, we are going to be respected,” Alpha Phi Alpha General President Willis L. Lonzer III said, according to a report. “And people that look like us,...

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — New Zealand striker Hannah Wilkinson has helped create two milestones at the Women’s World Cup. With her 48th-minute goal in the tournament opener against Norway, she led the co-host Football Ferns to their first win in six trips to the Women’s World Cup. She’s also one of at least 95 out members of the LGBTQ+ community competing in this year’s tournament, according to a count being kept by Outsports, a website that covers the LGBTQ+ sports. The Ferns were greeted with a fan-made sign at their next match in Wellington: “Gay for soccer, gay for...

A leading conservative international policy think tank is castigating Klaus Schwab and his World Economic Forum for trying to replicate in the West a CCP-style, high-tech, totalitarian system in which "a small group of elites bark orders and ordinary citizens dutifully obey." Gatestone Institute writer J.B. Shurk states in an essay published Friday that it is "bizarre ... to see so many international institutions today looking to China for global guidance." Shurk singles out WEF chair and founder Schwab of "Great Reset" notoriety, who "routinely applauds China's surveillance State for its capacity to 'nudge' citizens toward compliance." "It is deeply...

One of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s campaign promises was to reform the extremely burdensome restrictions of the Brazilian legal code on the ownership and use of firearms. AmmoLand related the drop in homicides as of early 2020 when the rate had dropped to under 20 per 100,000 population. According to the Wilson Center, a Progressive think tank, legal private ownership of firearms grew from about 1.3 million in 2018 to just short of 3 million in 2022. “Experts” claim the increase in armed citizens has nothing to do with the drop in the homicide rate. From the Wilson Center:At first...

(Daily readings from the USCCB)Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother [Lazarus, who had died]. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.” John 11:19–22Today’s memorial is relatively new within our Church. In the year 2021, Pope Francis replaced the Memorial of Saint Martha with this memorial in honor of all...

We have received the Richmond Whig and Sentinel of the 27th inst., from which we make the following interesting extracts: Again do I call upon the people of the Confederacy -- a people who believe that the Lord reigneth, and that His overruling Providence ordereth all things -- to unite in prayer and humble submission under His chastening hand, and to beseech His favor on our suffering country. It is meet that when trials and reverses befall us we should seek to take home to our hearts and consciences the lessons which they teach, and profit by the self-examination for...
