[Catholic Caucus] Pope Francis's Latin Mass Restrictions Confirm the Link Between Liturgy and Orthodoxy Today is the second anniversary of Traditionis Custodes. Having fallen in love with the beauty of the Traditional Latin Mass a year or so before, I remember the feeling of shock and confusion at the unveiling of the cruel, angry document that seemed targeted at destroying the celebration of the ancient liturgy for all time. At a time of such confusion and crisis, both in the Church and the world, to target the relatively small number of Catholics who had found refuge in the timeless beauty...

The Drug Enforcement Administration recently sponsored an event for its Washington, D.C., headquarters employees at a bar and restaurant that largely caters to LGBTQ+ customers, to help the agency get what it described as "an understanding and perception of gay social culture" and that also was to include a drag show presentation. The agency's Equal Employment Opportunity Office led the effort. The event was held June 26 at Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant – a self-described "LGBTQ+, straight-friendly restaurant and bar" in northern Virginia, about a mile from agency headquarters. While the "woke" movement appears to be going strong in...

A couple of years ago, an "80 percent" receiver I purchased refused to accept parts, let alone chamber and fire cartridges, until my son and I drilled and milled it to completion; that's because unfinished firearms are not firearms. For a long time, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agreed. But, pressured by the Biden administration, the ATF tried to extend firearms regulations to a lot of things that aren't guns but could, with work, become one. Now a federal judge is injecting some sense, ruling in a lawsuit that bureaucrats can't just decide that inert objects...

Synodalists prepare for October in Rome without reference to Jesus ChristCathcon: For balance, God was mentioned 6 times but 4 of these references are by Cardinal Müller. One of the other references is to the People of God. Germany is mentioned more often than God.Very interesting that the Cardinal has prepared a theological-critical assessment of the "Instrumentum laboris" for Cardinal Grech. There are seven references to the Holy Spirit by 5 people. Two of these are by Father James Martin SJ who is using the Holy Spirit as a justifier for his views-------It is the most ambitious reform project of...

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said during an interview over the weekend that the U.S. Secret Service does not appear to have asked President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, about the cocaine that was found in the White Houses earlier this month. Cotton made the remarks during an interview with Shannon Bream on Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday” when asked about what the latest developments in the case are. “We’ve got no answers,” Cotton said in response to the letter that he sent to the Secret Service. “That’s not surprising. The Secret Service is a troubled agency as it’s long had challenges....

The US Secret Service allegedly found fingerprints on the bag of cocaine found in the White House and knows who they belong to, contradicting a report from Thursday that there was no suspect in the case. Soldier of Fortune magazine reported that a source told it that the Secret Service must have known who had handled the bag since last week. The publication said they are withholding the name until they can get official confirmation. US Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told Breitbart News in response to the allegations that it is "absolutely not true." He said, "The FBI independent...

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in mid-July that some Muslims’ opposition to LGBTQ curriculum in K-12 education is being fueled by American right-wingers, video shows. Just when you thought Trudeau couldn’t offend any more people, or do something even stupider than that haircut he got in 2022, he outdid his own stupidity in spectacular fashion. While speaking with Muslim Canadians at a mosque in Calgary in mid-July, he seemingly lectured his constituents on why they feel the way they do about Pride events in the education system, according to a video shared on social media. “People on social media,...

Nobody else polled outside single digits at the West Palm Beach conference. Ron DeSantis came in third. At a Turning Point USA conference, Donald Trump dominated a straw poll. Nearly 86% of attendees for the Tuning Point Action conference in Florida supported the former President. Meanwhile, all other competitors posted in single digits. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, still widely viewed as Trump’s great competitor for the GOP nomination, came in third place. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, a part-time Longboat Key resident, unapologetically cheered the survey results. “The straw poll demonstrates that President Trump remains the single most dominant...

(Daily readings from the USCCB)“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:37–38At first read, this appears to be a difficult teaching of our Lord. But when properly understood, it is clear that it helps us keep our relationships with God and with our family properly ordered in charity and truth. Following this command will never result in a lack of love for...

Teamsters President Sean O’Brien told union members over the weekend that the White House has been asked not to intervene if United Parcel Service (UPS) workers strike, saying the administration should only be concerned with corporate greed. “We’ve been very clear with the White House,” O’Brien said on a UPS Teamsters members update webinar on Sunday when asked about the chances of the White House forcing a contract. “We told the White House — and I used this analogy throughout our negotiations, throughout our rallies and practice pickets that we have taken a strong position with the White House that,...
