"You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house" (1 Pet. 2:5). Christ is your life, and you are an integral part of what He is accomplishing in the world. The Jewish culture of Peter's time centered on the Temple in Jerusalem. Apparently drawing from that picture, Peter used vivid language to teach that God no longer dwells in an earthly, material, temporal house, but in a spiritual house. Christ is the cornerstone, and the spiritual house He is building is comprised of individual believers. That analogy introduces us to the first spiritual privilege Christians enjoy:...

This pizza came in hot. A Texas woman shared the shocking moment a pizza deliveryman cursed her out over the $5 tip she gave him for an order she said cost just $20. Lacey Purcival posted the video on TikTok, showing a DoorDash driver she identified as Corey delivering dinner to her home. The deliveryman can be seen ringing the doorbell, and Purcival opening the door and greeting him. After nearly dropping the pizza as he pulled it out of its sleeve, Corey handed over the pie as Purcival thanked him enthusiastically.

Physician, heal thyself. Outgoing CDC Director Rochelle Walensky departed with a warning that we should beware of politicized science and misinformation. She should know. In recent months, we’ve seen a lot of public-health folks quietly rowing back their once-apocalyptic COVID advice and asking for forgiveness for the mistakes they made. Well, to make mistakes is human, and to forgive them is divine. But it’s easier to forgive human mistakes that aren’t pronounced using the Voice of God. And deliberate misrepresentations don’t count as mistakes. Those count as lies, because that’s what they are. In the early days of COVID, Anthony...

In the video, people are heard yelling to others to get out of the water. Experts say shark sightings are more common in June than any other month because they like to come close to the shore to hunt.

Radio Sputnik called me first thing this morning and asked me to comment on the recent speech in Oxfordshire, England by the Director of the CIA, William Burns. I quickly scanned the news item and assumed it was a joke. I did a quick check to verify that this was a hoax or another clever bit of satire by the Babylon Bee. Nope. Burns really is this fatuous. Maybe the real Bill Burns has been abducted by aliens (the outer space kind).CIA Director William Burns called Russia’s war on Ukraine a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to recruit spies for the intelligence agency.“Disaffection...

Wednesday, during an appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show, former Vice President Mike Pence, a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, reacted to news reports that cocaine was found in the White House. Pence called for answers and said he expected the outcome to be the same as the answers about who leaked the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision. “Now, Vice President Pence, I want to cover some serious stuff with you,” host Hugh Hewitt said. “But I want to begin with just sort of a counterfactual. If cocaine had been found in the Trump-Pence West...

Lost in the breathless headlines over the indictment of President Trump for alleged violations of the Espionage Act is a story that deserves much more attention than it has received thus far: the allegation that a senior official at the Department of Justice attempted to shake down Trump’s co-defendant’s lawyer. It is a scandal in the making that could result in the investigation of senior DOJ officials, which should lead to public congressional hearings, and that might even result in the entire case against Trump being dismissed. Trump’s co-defendant is Waltine “Walt” Nauta, a Navy valet who served in Trump’s...

(RNS) — Whitworth University, a Christian school affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), has revised its policies to allow for the hiring of faculty who identify as LGBTQ and to add sexual orientation to its non-discrimination statement. In so doing, it joins a sliver of Christian colleges and universities that are hiring faculty in same-sex marriages. Last year, Eastern University, a Christian school affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA, made a similar change to its hiring policy. Whitworth, which is located in Spokane, Washington, and last academic year had an enrollment of 2,500 students, announced the change on Thursday...

It looks like the efforts of both state and federal governments' to force electric vehicles (EVs) on consumers will be costly without providing any environmental advantages. Everyone knows that EVs are far more expensive to own than gasoline-powered vehicles. The premise that these higher costs will buy a cleaner and cooler environment is erroneous. In an effort to make EVs seem more economical, the federal government offers a $7500 tax credit to those who buy one. Even with this added incentive for purchasers, manufacturers are still taking big losses on every vehicle sold. Ford, for example, currently losses $58,000 on...

Tiny spheres of once-molten metal magnetically dredged from the seafloor could be pieces from IM1, a potential interstellar meteor that struck Earth in 2014 Over the past two weeks, I have circumnavigated the globe by land, air and sea. The reason? A kitchen sink–sized chunk of interstellar material that my colleagues and I believe collided with the Earth at 100,000 miles per hour nearly a decade ago. After years of effort, we may have finally found pieces of this elusive object on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, about a mile beneath the waves. The story began In April 2019,...

An English tourist accused of defacing the Colosseum has said he was not aware of the age of the ancient monument. Ivan Dimitrov, a 27-year-old fitness instructor living in Bristol, wrote a letter of apology to the Rome mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, after allegedly engraving his and his girlfriend’s names into an internal wall of the 2,000-year-old landmark with a key. In the letter, Dimitrov, who was traced by Italian police to England after a five-day search, wrote that only now did he realise “the seriousness of the deed committed”. “Through these lines I would like to address my heartfelt and...
