A shocking video shows the moment a gang of brazen thieves crashed a car into a Southern California jewelry store in broad daylight, before bashing the owner with a chair and stealing $300,000 worth of merchandise.
The incident occurred around noon Saturday at Rodeo Jewelers, located in a busy strip mall on Foothill Boulevard in the Los Angeles suburb of La Verne
Surveillance footage from inside the business obtained by ABC 7 shows a white Honda sedan barreling through the store’s windows, sending glass shards and debris flying everywhere.
Four masked suspects brandishing hammers then jump out of the car and immediately go to work smashing display cases and grabbing pricey loot.

It used to be a jewelry heist would make a pretty decent basis for a movie. This is downright boring. Why do we pay for law enforcement when we can not even get a good movie in return?

I am a little curious, does $300,000 worth of merchandise count as a felony is Southern California? Or is it just a misdemeanor?
I am pretty sure it is just a misdemeanor in San Francisco, but I am not too sure about Southern California.

I betcha if I owned a jewelry store, I would have concrete & steel Bollards across the front, I betcha. About 12 or less inches apart.
No armed guard? Guess it wasn’t Korean jeweler prepared to defend themselves. How long until police arrived to document the theft and damage?
Depending on the race of the perps, it would likely be classified as malicious mischief.

Now, if the AC condenser ruptured in the crash, and the Freon is released, well that is a greenhouse gas. Life imprisonment or even execution might be on the table.

In LA California there is probably an ordnance prohibiting that. It would be deemed racist.
I’ll give the jewelry store operator credit for guts for going after the gang of robbers, but why the heck wasn’t he shooting them instead of waving a floppy stick?
1) Good thing they had the security camera from 1980
2) A firearm would have done wonders
3) the perps will be amazed they got caught after posting there ill gotten bling on facebook and someone turns them in for the reward
Looking at the pictures, that Honda seems to have faired pretty well. It looked like they could have backed out of the store and drove off.
The way they move around, these culprits look like chimps. You know, the same ones you see in Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, etc. In other words, the 2% of the population that commit 80% of the crimes.
If I owned a jewelry store, I’d have that reactive armor like on Russian tanks.

They could be charged with illegal parking, police can tow the car and then send the bill and ticket to the person they stole the car from.

My guess is that this is the work of thieves from Chile who are on tourist visas.
They make the big heist and then before the dust is settled they are on a plane home.
