A Twitter employee who works in “brand safety” with a history of making derogatory and racist posts against white people is leaving the company. “[T]oday was my last day at the bird app,” said a post from Maie Aiyed from an account that is verified as being affiliated with Twitter. The account has now limited who can see their posts, so we could not embed their tweet. However, the tweet did not specify a reason for the departure. “I feel so lucky to have been part of something so special,” the tweet added, followed by the hashtag “#LoveWhereYouWorked.” As The...

Have any of you found your comments on public site being deliberately blocked or removed? I think that my comments about the LBTQwerty general attack on all things civilized and that started the ball rolling and then Real Clear Politics removed everything. On another occasion, the Wall Street Journal wouldn't even accent a post that said "A man in a dress is still a man". Apparently their bots block any attempt to comment if it's anti -trans. Your thoughts/war stories?

Twitter head of trust and safety Ella Irwin resigned Thursday evening, per multiple sources, after owner Elon Musk publicly rebuked his own staff over a content moderation decision. Catch up quick: Twitter staff had decided that a video titled "What is a Woman?" by the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh, a far-right personality who often attacks transgender people, violated the platform's hate-speech rules. Twitter had recently announced a content deal with the Daily Wire. When Daily Wire's Jeremy Boreing tweeted a complaint about the decision, saying that the video was barred because it included instances of misgendering, Musk replied: "This was...

Conservative activist Kenny Xu, who’s fighting what he says are harmful diversity, equity and inclusion practices at US medical schools, says he’s notched another anti-DEI win at the University of North Carolina — with the help of a renowned, African-born, US-based heart surgeon. Xu persuaded Harvard-trained Dr. Nche Zama, 66, who was born in the Republic of Cameroon and immigrated alone to the US at age 14 with just $20, to speak at one of the anti-DEI events Xu organized in Chapel Hill in February aimed at getting the UNC medical school to back off its policies. Now UNC’s medical...

Russia faced a major bombardment today as huge explosions ripped through the occupied port of Berdiansk - with Ukraine believed to be making the most of new missiles gifted by Britain. Footage shows the moment facilities at the port are hit with a suspected Storm Shadow missile, Britain's most potent non-nuclear missile which can strike targets from a range of 150 miles. A huge plume of smoke was seen rising from a location in the port area on the Sea of Azov, in the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Russian state media outlet RT said there had been 'casualties and destruction' from...

Researcher Esma Ugur displaying the perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell that broke the efficiency record in April 2023. Credit: KAUST Researchers in Saudi Arabia have just broken a record they themselves set just two months ago: a tandem solar cell with an unprecedented 33.7% efficiency. The challenge: Photovoltaic solar cells absorb light and convert it into electricity. You’ll find dozens of them in the average solar panel, and chances are they’ll be made from silicon, because it lasts a long time and is relatively cheap. Silicon solar cells aren’t terribly efficient, though — most commercial silicon cells convert just 18-22% of...

In a shocking turn of events, the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir was interrupted and stopped while singing the National Anthem in Statuary Hall at the United States Capitol. The children, part of the esteemed Rushingbrook Children’s Choir, had traveled to Washington, D.C., for a scheduled Capitol tour and had received prior approval to sing a short set of patriotic songs inside the historic Statuary Hall. However, as their angelic voices filled the grand hall while singing The Star-Spangled Banner with pride, Capitol Police rudely intervened, insisting that the children stop singing immediately. The abrupt interruption stunned the young performers, the choir...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis arrived in South Carolina on Friday on the third leg of an early-state swing after receiving news that his disastrous campaign launch saw him lose ground to frontrunner Donald Trump. A new poll shows the former president increased his lead over DeSantis by eight points since early May. The data will be a blow to DeSantis, who last week used an online interview with Twitter owner Elon Musk to enter the race. But glitches on Twitter Spaces meant the event was late starting and listeners were repeatedly kicked out of the feed. A Yahoo News/YouGov of...

The ongoing controversy over Twitter’s censorship of The Daily Wire for alleged “misgendering” escalated on Thursday evening with the social media giant’s Head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin, resigning in the wake. That’s most likely because she and her department are the ones who made the decision to label tweets by Matt Walsh as violating Twitter’s “hateful conduct” policies. The result was a warning label being placed on the posts along with sharing disabled. Those moves came after Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, revealed Thursday morning that Twitter backed out of a deal to show What Is...

A drug that was originally developed to treat diabetes and severe overweight might also help people with nicotine dependence, concludes new research. Smoking is one of the greatest threats to public health. And 75% of smokers want to quit. So why don't they? The answer is: nicotine. It is one of the most addictive known substances. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for nicotine cravings. But new research might be able to change that. "In connection with a mouse study focusing on overweight, we discovered, more or less by accident, that a well-known drug, liraglutide, used to treat diabetes and overweight,...
