The ongoing controversy over Twitter’s censorship of The Daily Wire for alleged “misgendering” escalated on Thursday evening with the social media giant’s Head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin, resigning in the wake.
That’s most likely because she and her department are the ones who made the decision to label tweets by Matt Walsh as violating Twitter’s “hateful conduct” policies. The result was a warning label being placed on the posts along with sharing disabled. Those moves came after Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, revealed Thursday morning that Twitter backed out of a deal to show What Is a Woman, the outlet’s popular documentary about the militant transgender movement.
It’s not yet known whether Irwin was fired or whether she resigned of her own volition in response to the situation, but it appears Musk made a call that forced her ouster. He either told her that she had to change the policy in question (which was not supposed to exist) and she resigned in protest, or she was simply told to resign for what she allegedly did.
No matter the details, if Irwin was committed to the idea that the site should censor and throttle posts for “misgendering,” a laughably anti-scientific concept that demands people affirm mental illness, she needed to go, and Twitter is better off with her gone. Such a policy also makes no sense given one of the reasons Musk even bought Twitter was to stop the censorship of The Babylon Bee, which spent almost a year with its account suspended for “misgendering” under the old Twitter ownership.
But while Irwin’s resignation is a welcome development, the damage does not appear to have been undone. Twenty minutes into Thursday evening’s showing of What Is a Woman, the censorship regime hit again, closing comments on the stream and disallowing it from being shared.
Musk then took to Twitter to respond by saying that an update was being pushed out that would fix the problem tomorrow. He also noted that The Daily Wire’s posts that contain alleged “misgendering” will be throttled and disconnected from any advertisers.
This is a problem. I understand the decision to not allow Twitter advertising on the posts as the social media site is a business. You can’t put advertisements on things that they don’t want to be seen as representing or promoting.
On the other hand, why is it going to take a day to uncensor the posts? And why would they be throttled to the point of not being recommended in the normal algorithm, which recommends all sorts of controversial stuff on a daily basis? All this because The Daily Wire dared to acknowledge biological reality?
Musk has stepped into a mine field with this, and his actions are muddled at best. He’d do well to go all the way and rectify this situation fully. Anything short of that is just going to build distrust, and given Twitter’s recent success, I’d hate to see that happen.
undoing all the twitter censorship is an ongoing process... i believe there are more subtle coded lines that need to be addressed when they pop up .
I was on Twitter earlier and Matt’s full movie is available with a tweet from Elon…”Every parent should see this”.

Get it sorted before the new CEO starts.

Not the first time Daily Wire’s run into the wall. ....then it got ironed out and here they are again.
you said..”Every parent should see this”
can’t be said enough.
Even though the documentory came out months ago, I had never “noticed” ... we all have differrent streams of information and influance.
IT’s free at the link ... I think till about 8pm..
that could change I guess.
I live a bit rural .. and rarely bother to mix with the crowd.
It was stunning to see and hear the depth of delusion that is sweeping the country.
This is a real threat to our children.
watch the movie.
I'm glad Musk resolved this issue correctly but what is going to happen when the new woke CEO starts?
As for the above noted Jeremy Boreing: Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing apologized for an article the publication ran criticizing “The Chosen” after an LGBT flag was seen on the set in a video promoting the popular fictional series about the lives of Jesus’ disciples.
Boreing took to Twitter Wednesday to apologize for his outlet’s publication of a piece titled “‘The Chosen’ Defends Pride Flag Spotted on Set: ‘Let the Show Speak for Itself.’” The article, published Tuesday, documents the criticism directed at the crowdfunded series after a photograph surfaced showing an LGBT pride flag attached to a camera during filming for the fourth season.
Twitters problem is lack of advertising. Lib corporations are boycotting them, whereas in the last they advertised on Twit. I think Musk got rid of 80% of Twitter employees. So saving money there!
Elon bought Twitter for 40 billion. I have been reading that it is now valued at 1/3 the original price Musk paid.
I’ve seen a lot of it already. I don’t have children, but it burns me up that all these deluded incompetents are destroying their kids. They refuse any kind of correction or wisdom or pleas (lol, like me when I was younger). I grew up in the 60s/70s and all kinds of weird stuff was going on then, but fortunately not this drugs/surgery stuff. I cannot imagine the damage to a person in these kids’ situation, where everybody is cheering them on to do something that will ultimately harm them.
Musk has said he intends to turn Twitter into “X… the everything app”.
I think I recall something about the X and Y chromosome in biology. Is that concept (Truth) still valid? This entire debate seems quite simple.
Easily settled. Just tell anyone in question to drop trou.
Like porn, I know it when I SEE it.
