An international team suggests a simple tweak to the first meal of the day might help people living with type 2 diabetes (T2D) better control their blood sugar levels. In fact, changing just one meal helped keep the blood sugar in check. "We're not talking about a complete diet overhaul," says Dr. Oliveira. Their 12-week study had two groups. One was advised to eat from a selection of low-carb breakfasts containing approximate amounts of 8g of carbohydrate, 25g of protein and 37g of fat while the other was advised to eat from a selection of low-fat higher-carb options containing about...

Ron DeSantis was surely hoping for a bump from his presidential campaign launch last week. But a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows no sign of improvement. In fact, the survey of 1,520 U.S. adults, which was conducted from May 25-30, suggests that the Florida governor may have actually lost ground against frontrunner and former President Donald Trump since officially entering the race for the 2024 GOP nomination during a glitchy Twitter Spaces event with the platform’s billionaire owner Elon Musk. The situation is actually worse than described by the media. Candidate Ron DeSantis cannot hold a public event in the...

Two of the world’s leading scholars on the harmful impact of cohabitation on relational health and marital success – Scott Stanley and Galena Rhoades, both of the University of Denver – have published an important new report expanding upon previous research. Scholars have long known, and there is surprisingly very little disagreement among them, that cohabiting relationships are associated with markedly higher rates of marital divorce. Something about the cohabiting experience tends to chip away at the likelihood of success in marriage. These scholars explain in this new report that “for decades in the U.S., living together before marriage has...

Apple customers have complained they are struggling to access their savings - just over a month after it launched its high-yield account. The tech giant unveiled its new savings product in partnership with Goldman Sachs that offers a 4.15 percent interest rate - around 10 times the average yield offered by mainstream banks. Reports suggest it attracted as many as $1 billion in deposits four days after launching. But now savers are reportedly having trouble accessing their funds - or transferring cash between accounts. Nathan Thacker, who lives outside Atlanta, told the Wall Street Journal he had been trying and...

@jsolomonReports Oliver. @CNN: Why do you use the term “right wing” for me? It’s offensive because it has been used for evil people like McVeigh. I’m just a reporter like you. Actually I was a lot more factual during Russia collusion then many of our colleagues. Could you knock off the character assassination? It is unbecoming for a media reporter.

While many see Pride Month as a celebration for members of the LGBTQ+ community, some conservatives have a different take on the month, calling for boycotts of several companies. Twitter user RAMZPAUL also recently posted a photo calling for supporters to boycott all of Pride Month and avoid stores that celebrate the season and instead support businesses that reject Pride Month.Bud Light In April, Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch faced a wave of backlash and calls to boycott the company after the beer brand sent a one-off commemorative can to transgender influencer and activist, Dylan Mulvaney, who then shared it on...

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus heals a blind man. Physical blindness is an evocative symbol of the terrible blindness of the soul that all of us sinners experience. When the pusilla anima (small soul) reigns, when the imago Dei (image of God) is covered over, we see within the narrow spectrum of our fearful desires. Blind Bartimaeus, sitting helplessly by the road outside of Jericho begging for alms and attention, expresses this hopeless and darkened-over state of soul. When he hears that Jesus of Nazareth is in the vicinity, he begins to cry out, “Son of David, have pity on...

The Bud Light marketing executive associated with the company’s disastrous Dylan Mulvaney partnership is “not supposed to talk” about the ordeal, according to a pal she was seen walking with in New York City. Alissa Heinerscheid, 39, refused to speak when approached by the Daily Mail for comment on the controversial marketing deal with the transgender influencer — before her friend cut in to explain that she couldn’t discuss the topic. “She’s not supposed to talk about it, she can’t,” the friend said before they moved on. Social media shows the Taliban sending U.S. military vehicles captured from the former Afghan National Defense and Security Forces along with some ancient Soviet-era tanks to Afghanistan’s border with Iran following a recent skirmish about access to the Helmand River. On May 27, fighting broke out in Nimroz province in southern Afghanistan between the Taliban and Iranian border guards. At least three people were killed in the exchanges of fire. Should hostilities increase between the two sides, Taliban fighters will have thousands of vehicles at their disposal that were paid for by American taxpayers. Subscribe to Task & Purpose Today....

In what can only be viewed as a massive betrayal of public trust, two days ago a Louisiana Senate Judiciary Committee defeated legislation that would have prohibited sworn adversaries of the United States from purchasing immovable property in the interior of the State. The Committee is majority Republican, and its Chairman is Senator Barrow Peacock who represents Caddo and Bossier Parishes in North Louisiana. Neither Peacock nor any other Republican committee member opposed a motion by Democrat Senator Jay Luneau to defer Republican Representative Valarie Hodges’ legislation, effectively killing it. The legislation, House Bill 537, had passed overwhelmingly out of...
