Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), one of the most common forms of dementia, has no cure. Now, a group has identified three bacteria involved in DLB—Collinsella, Ruminococcus, and Bifidobacterium. Their findings suggest new avenues for diagnosis and treatment. The onset of DLB is associated with abnormal deposits of alpha-synuclein, a protein in the brain. A research group discovered that three intestinal bacteria, Collinsella, Ruminococcus, and Bifidobacterium, were associated with patients with DLB. The bacteria Akkermansia, which degrades the intestinal mucosa, increased. On the other hand, the bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) in the gut decreased. On the other...
  • Joe & Jill Biden’s painfully boring date night choice sparks outrage, debate

Online foodies, let alone self-described relationship experts, are going nuts over President Biden and first lady Jill Biden’s decision to order the exact same thing on a recent date night in Washington. The Bidens’ choice to each order the red sauce rigatoni, grilled bread, chicory salad and glasses of Barbera wine at the Red Hen last month sparked fierce debate, not for the dish itself — but for choosing the same dish. Dozens of critics and food lovers lost their noodles over the wildly unadventurous choice, bashing the first couple for missing the chance to try multiple menu items. “There...

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when little was known about the novel virus, the U.K. government briefly considered asking the public to exterminate every cat amid fears that the pets could spread the disease. Lord Bethell, a former deputy Health Minister from 2020 to 2021, revealed the news Wednesday during an interview with Britain’s Channel 4 News.

In a follow-up tweet, Dreier reported that Hearthside, the parent company of Cheetos, Nature Valley, Lucky Charms, had lost a significant percentage of its workforce after checking for child laborers. (Yikes) Most of these children are not illegal immigrants, but rather kids who arrived legally through the help of a sponsor. In the past, these children were protected by the Department of Health and Human Services, but as numbers grow, old systems began breaking down. According to the NYT, instability in Central and South America, along with the pandemic, has significantly exacerbated the United States child labor problem. "The number...

Trump stated that the far left is fascist, and no one disputed itMaybe it's finally dawning on the fascist far left that their projection tactic has limits, and people have finally taken note of their true ideology. Last Friday on the Glenn Beck radio program, President Trump boldly stated what has been bloody obvious for quite some time: despite the lies and incessant projection, the anti-freedom far-left is fascist. Given the incendiary nature of that charge, the nation's socialist media should have immediately lost what is left of their minds and overreacted in the usual way. After all, they've spent...

The latest batch of Twitter Files released by Twitter owner Elon Musk blew the lid off a coordinated effort to create “state-sponsored blacklists.” Independent journalist Matt Taibbi, who unveiled the latest batch March 2, pointed to the George Soros-funded Atlantic Council and the government-backed Global Engagement Center as two of the entities responsible for creating blacklists to target Americans. Taibbi reported that “On June 8, 2021, an analyst at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab [DFRLab] wrote to Twitter: ‘Hi guys. Attached you will find… around 40k twitter accounts that our researchers suspect are engaging in inauthentic behavior… and...

MSNBC’s host Joe Scarborough said Thursday on his show “Morning Joe” that he believes Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) will “melt” if he goes up against former President Donald Trump at a Republican presidential primary debate. Scarborough said, “The more I see, the more I read, the more I talk to people, they don’t care. They don’t care that Donald Trump tried to overthrow American democracy. They don’t care he tried to throw out a presidential election. They don’t care that he wanted to terminate the Constitution of the United States. This Democrat is who you’re going to face.”

A man set himself on fire on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley on Wednesday afternoon, according to campus police. The University of California Police Department (UCPD) said they received a call at roughly 4:17 p.m. about a person who was on fire. The reported self-immolation took place on Sproul Plaza, the center of the campus. "Berkeley Mental Health was on scene and several good samaritans tried to render aid and put out the fire. At least one of these good samaritans sustained unknown injuries and was transported to a local hospital," the statement from UCPD said.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart just had his show in Cairo canceled because of a remark he made about the Egyptian pharaohs being black. That comment was a joke he made while on his “Reality Check” tour. Speaking about the pharaohs and teaching kids black history, Hart said: “We must teach our children the true history of Black Africans when they were kings in Egypt and not just the era of slavery that is cemented by education in America. Do you remember the time when we were kings?” The Cairo stop on his tour was then promptly canceled. “It is...

Fox News unveiled a redesign of its website yesterday to highlight more non-hard news and politics coverage to its audience coming to the homepage and provide more “brand safe” content to advertisers, said Porter Berry, evp and editor-in-chief of Fox News Digital. Three advertising agency executives who spoke with Digiday said these changes have the potential to draw in new advertisers and budgets. They declined to share if their clients were currently advertising on Fox News’ sites. “Anytime a publisher is taking a moment to think about what is going to be the best way for consumers to experience their...
  • MONEYWATCH Nissan recalls over 800K SUVs whose ignition can cut off while being driven

    CBS News ^ | FEBRUARY 28, 2023 | Staff
Nissan is recalling more than 809,000 small SUVs in the U.S. and Canada because a key problem can cause the ignition to shut off while they're being driven. The recall covers certain Rogues from the 2014 through 2020 model years, as well as Rogue Sports from 2017 through 2022. Nissan says the SUVs have jackknife folding keys that may not stay fully open. If driven with the key partially folded, a driver could touch the fob, inadvertently turning off the engine. This can cause loss of engine power and power brakes, and the air bags might not inflate in a...

California cities have battled a homeless crisis for years, while still throwing billions of dollars at the spiraling tragedy to help those who are in dire need of housing. But one city has defied the odds, reporting the lowest homeless population in the state. Coronado Mayor Richard Bailey (R) said there are no vagrants in his city at all, and he joined “Fox & Friends First” to describe how he has reinforced a no-encampment policy while still upholding the rule of law. […] Coronado funds “reasonable” services to help those struggling get “back on their feet,” but noted the city...
  • Four ways to reduce unwanted iodized table salt reactions when boiling pasta

    03/02/2023 10:33:04 AM PST · by ConservativeMind · 28 replies
Iodized salt helps prevent iodine-deficiency disorders, including goiters and certain birth defects. Yet it's unclear how this seasoning interacts with chloramine-treated drinking water if some of the disinfectant is left behind. Now, researchers have demonstrated that cooking pasta in such water with iodized table salt could produce potentially harmful byproducts. But they also report four simple ways that people can reduce or avoid these unwanted compounds. In most countries, drinking water is treated with chlorine or chloramine. But small amounts of these disinfectants can end up in water used for cooking. Previous experiments showed that when wheat flour was heated...

The Delaware Supreme Court lowered the passing score on the state's bar exam amid other changes reportedly intended to increase racial diversity among the state's lawyers. The 200-question multiple-choice exam will be offered twice instead of once a year beginning in 2024 – and its passing score will be lowered from 145 to 143, according to local outlet WHYY. The number of essays on the exam will be decreased from eight to four, and the number of essay topics will be reduced from 14 to 10. The clerkship requirement is also being lowered from 21 weeks to 12 weeks, and...
