Nissan is recalling more than 809,000 small SUVs in the U.S. and Canada because a key problem can cause the ignition to shut off while they're being driven.
The recall covers certain Rogues from the 2014 through 2020 model years, as well as Rogue Sports from 2017 through 2022.
Nissan says the SUVs have jackknife folding keys that may not stay fully open. If driven with the key partially folded, a driver could touch the fob, inadvertently turning off the engine.
This can cause loss of engine power and power brakes, and the air bags might not inflate in a crash.
The company says it's not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the problem.
Nissan hasn't come up with a fix yet. Owners will be notified in March with an interim letter telling them not to attach anything else to the key ring. Then they'll get another letter telling them to take their SUVs in for repairs. The automaker says owners with keys that won't stay in the open position should contact their dealers.
Ping!....................
Bring back keys. They work.
Well what unnecessary feat of engineering will they come up with next.
So does this fob have a button that turns off the engine?
So my Rogue went rogue?
And while they’re at it being back manuals.
I’m so tired of losing sleep everyone my automatic shifts in an unusual way.
These stupid autos break all the time.
Hand cranked, simple.
Also anti theft since work would be necessary.

We see this everywhere. I guess those guys have to constantly “improve” things in order to keep their jobs. A minor example of that is my TV remote. It’s not like those old, simple ones. I don’t understand what half the buttons do now. But occasionally I’ll push one by accident, and the screen will go dark. Then I’ve got to reboot everything.
Sounds like you forgot about the GM cars that killed people because of the key falling out of the ignition. The coverup by the evil GM execs who were never held accountable meant one woman spent years in prison.
Nissan just started making cars and SUVs in Mexico. I’m sure that will fix it.
Yes, I did forget about that. Guess my point is that that kind of problem has been eliminated.
That Nissan crap happened also with Armadasas well. How they missed the recall I’ll never know. Switched to Toyota and been happy ever since
Auto-relight. Works for Black Hawks....
Atomic batteries and turbines.
Good enough for Batman.
DATSUN!!
Hai!
It’a awwwsome!
No, I think that it just stays halfway open at a right angle, making it a lever t that can too easily turn the engine off.
I had a Datsun pickup back in the day. Similar to this one............
If you turn off the ignition while driving and then turn it back on, the car will back fire scaring the hell out of those close by
LOL, been there, especially in the old days when you needed to keep it on a certain channel.
