After an election campaign in which Republicans were vilified by President Biden and other Democrats as "enemies of democracy," MSNBC talking head Joe Scarborough declared that "Democrats won because Americans don't want leaders who hate. Republicans never understood the righteous wrath that led to the riots over the death of George Floyd. They made opposition to urban crime an issue in their bid for votes. Voters overwhelmingly rejected this message." Joy Behar, co-host of ABC's "The View" seconded Scarborough's interpretation, saying that "all Republicans want to do is hang out with Nazis and white supremacists." She pivoted from this smear...

The discovery and exploitation of crude oil have literally transformed the world beyond all recognition. This was such a great discovery, that our modern world is literally fuelled by it.If the crude oil supply was to suddenly dry up, could we survive?Crude oil is one of the most important resources we have ever discovered. Oil and the many products made from it have literally and figuratively transformed the world beyond all recognition. However, as we are constantly reminded, crude oil is not in infinite supply. After all, it took millions of years to "brew". RelatedWhat Would Happen If the World Ran...

The head of NATO expressed worry that the fighting in Ukraine could spin out of control and become a war between Russia and NATO, according to an interview released Friday. “If things go wrong, they can go horribly wrong,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in remarks to Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “It is a terrible war in Ukraine. It is also a war that can become a full-fledged war that spreads into a major war between NATO and Russia,” he said. “We are working on that every day to avoid that.”

International travelers have been flocking back to the popular resort island of Bali as the Covid pandemic subsides, prompting hopes that Indonesia's battered tourism industry is on the road to recovery. But this week, controversial new laws were passed in parliament that ban cohabitation and sex outside marriage. The laws will apply not just to residents but also to foreign expats and tourists in the country -- raising concerns from experts. Although the changes are not expected to kick in for at least another three years, industry players tell CNN that the new criminal code could put foreigners off visiting...

Researchers have linked aspartame, an artificial sweetener found in nearly 5,000 diet foods and drinks, to anxiety-like behavior in mice. "This study is showing we need to look back at the environmental factors," said Pradeep Bhide. Along with producing anxiety in the mice who consumed aspartame, the effects extended up to two generations from the males exposed to the sweetener. The study came about because of previous research from the Bhide Lab on the transgenerational effects of nicotine on mice. The research showed temporary—or epigenetic—changes in mice sperm cells. Unlike genetic changes (mutations), epigenetic changes are reversible and don't change...

It's not about politics, it's about the soul of our country," Suarez tweeted. The invitation comes after Musk expressed frustrations over San Fransisco, where Twitter is headquartered, after city officials started investigating reports that the social media giant had set up sleeping quarters for employees."So city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl. Where are your priorities @LondonBreed!?"...

Those who oppose economically destructive “climate” policies – like those promoted by the Biden administration and at the recent United Nations COP27 conference – will continue to fail to stop the advance of these policies so long as they continue to accept the false claim that warming of the planet and carbon dioxide emissions are harmful. They are not. On balance, global warming and CO2 emission are beneficial. Before getting to why that is, however, it is crucial to understand why accepting the false climate claim is so harmful. When the destructiveness of climate policies is shown, the response is that the policies...

“This is a huge victory for Moscow over Washington,” former national security director John Bolton declared this morning on CBS. “It endangers other Americans in the future, who can be grabbed and used by bargaining chips,” he said of the swap of Brittney Griner for Viktor Bout, one of the world’s most dangerous men before his arrest and conviction.Bolton also revealed in this clip that the Trump administration had an offer to trade Paul Whelan for Bout two years ago. They passed, and as Bolton says, “for very good reasons” (via Caleb Howe at Mediaite):The 1-for-1 prisoner swap of Brittney...

Kyrsten Sinema has decided to make her unofficial status official, as Beege wrote earlier. The Arizona senator becomes the third independent in the upper chamber, but perhaps the only truly independent figure in the chamber. Both Bernie Sanders and Angus King identify as independent, but have rarely if ever bucked Chuck Schumer’s leadership during their entire tenures — especially to the center, as Sinema has done. That raises another question about the only other member of Schumer’s caucus to follow that same pattern. And that question will only grow more acute for Joe Manchin as his own re-election date approaches. Manchin...

Former president Donald Trump often said he was "the best thing to ever happen" to the Washington Post and other mainstream news outlets. He was right. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Jeff Bezos-owned publication has lost 500,000 subscribers since Trump left office in January 2021, which amounts to a decline of roughly 20 percent. The murder rate has fallen by two thirds since 2018, and crime has fallen by 75%, in El Salvador as it has imprisoned large numbers of criminals. The country has put nearly 2% of its adult population in prison. This is due to the anti-crime policies of its current president, Nayib Bukele. … Harsher penalties discourage crime. Crime in California fell significantly after California voters adopted Proposition 8, which mandated longer sentences for repeat offenders who kill, rape, and rob others. A study found those longer sentences deterred many crimes from being committed. Similarly, a 2008 Santa Clara University study...

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.As the Republican Party’s internecine war continues on all fronts, the battle among House Republicans over the Speaker of the new Congress, which will convene on January 3, just grew more intense.Seven GOP Congressmen disillusioned by Kevin McCarthy’s leadership on Friday released an open letter, addressed to “Dear Colleague,” with a list of demands — presumably with the caveat that any candidate for the speakership must meet their demands or their votes will go elsewhere.“As we form the 118th Congress,” the letter begins, “any...
