As we previously reported, in the aftermath of Republicans being projected to retake control of the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made it official Thursday in declaring she would “not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress.” “For me, the hour’s come for a new generation to lead the Democratic Caucus that I so deeply respect and I’m so grateful that so many are ready and willing to shoulder this awesome responsibility,” Pelosi, who is 82, stated as reports swirled that she was paving the way behind the scenes for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) to be her successor....

Left-wing activist and filmmaker Michael Moore said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that more Americans wanted Democrats in power than Republicans, given the results of the 2022 midterm elections. Moore said, “I understand why so many people bought into the narrative, the false narrative that it was going to be a red wave. People are afraid. We have gone through four years of Trump, gone through all this stuff. I get it. But we have to stop listening to these false narratives and trust ourselves. We are the majority of this country. There are more Democrats registered in this country...

The National Association of Muslim Police is calling on the Home Office and police to drop the terms “Islamist” and “Islamism” because of the direct link to Islamophobia. It says that counter terrorism policing uses these terms to to describe extremist ideology among groups such as Daesh or Al Qaeda. But it commissioned a survey showing 85 per cent of Muslim police respondents and 92 per cent of Muslim community respondents believed that these words had a direct link to Islamophobia and many Muslims feel marginalised, vulnerable and at a higher risk of hate crime and discrimination as a result....

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hallie Jackson Reports,” Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) reacted to the prospect of Republicans using funding bills to get concessions on things like money for the border or defunding the expansion of the IRS under the Inflation Reduction Act by stating that while numbers and “some of our priorities” can be negotiated, it’s crucial that “we don’t use threats of a government shutdown to get priorities that are not priorities of the American people.” Host Hallie Jackson asked, “House Republicans will likely use some of these funding bills to try to extract concessions on stuff like...

Beirut (AsiaNews) - The suspicions put forward by the Maronite patriarch are serious and destined to cause discussion. A Canadian man facing eviction applied to be legally euthanized and die rather than face homelessness. Amir Farsoud, 54, applied for the drastic measure after the rooming house where he lives was put on the market. Farsoud lives with debilitating, untreatable back pain, which allowed him to qualify for Canada's controversial medical assistance in dying program, known as MAID. But it wasn't his pain that drove Farsoud's decision, but rather his prospects of homelessness after Canada's social services failed to provide him support. Farsoud received one of the two doctor signatures required to be accepted by the MAID program, and...

I got this email from a friend in Austrailia and wanted to share it with others: Dear Cottonball, I hope things are going ok in your world. I have a very important message, which I feel I need to share with you. From the very beginning, I knew that covid was some sort of hoax and that the so called ‘vaccines’ were dangerous and to be avoided at all costs. However, I did not understand the full extent or the ramifications of what was really going on. That was all until recently when God lifted the veil and revealed to...

Heidi Matheny, 35, was arrested for the murder of her 93-year-old grandmother, Alice Matheny. The granddaughter allegedly admitted she took her grandmother to a doctor’s appointment, where a doctor told them the elderly woman needed to be in a nursing home, something they could not afford and insurance would not cover, according to the Eaton, Ohio, police report. Heidi said they left the appointment and enjoyed ice cream together. Back at the house, Heidi allegedly described to officers how she walked up behind her grandmother while the 93-year-old woman was doing dishes and pushed her head into the sink, holding...

Quite apart from the sympathy and horror every decent person feels over the attack on her husband, I for one am going to miss the old gal, as Nancy Pelosi slowly passes from power, with the announcement on Thursday that she will step down from House leadership. She’s had a good run, growing from a back-bencher to be a giant in the politics of her time. And as any comparable figure should, she leaves behind a trail of tokens—remarks and phrases and images—that future generations, if they’re moved to do so, can trace to find what there is to find...

Word on Twitter tonight is that Twitter is dead and is going to shut down anytime now. Pundits are posting links to where you can find them once Twitter’s gone. They’re lamenting what a great conversational space Twitter used to be. But Elon Musk, in his search for workers who were willing to actually come into the office and work a full day, has alienated his employees and they’re all leaving. Check out Twitter’s trending topics: RIP Twitter As CNBC reported, among the first two fired were Rahul Ligma and Daniel Johnson, whom the reporter caught outside as they were...

Republican Kari Lake is planning legal challenges to the Arizona election after her projected loss to Democrat candidate and Secretary of State Katie Hobbs. Multiple outlets called the Arizona gubernatorial race for Hobbs on Monday after nearly a week of counting ballots showed her with what is projected to be an insurmountable lead over Lake. With 99% of the vote in on Thursday, Hobbs held a roughly 17,000 vote lead over the Republican candidate. "I am still in this fight with you. For two years, I’ve been sounding the alarm about our broken election system here in Arizona and this...

Why do people keep falling for it? ... Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, which was, until last week, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, is today facing prison time for allegedly defrauding his customers of billions of dollars. Bankman-Fried, 30, donated to many progressive causes allied with the “effective altruism movement,” including pandemic prevention and response. He spoke at, and presumably donated to, the World Economic Forum’s Davos conference last May and the Clinton Foundation’s Clinton Global Initiative in September. Bankman-Fried is similar to Bernie Madoff in that both men used philanthropic giving, and the veneer of humility, to create...

“Now learn the parable of the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:32-35). The parable of the fig tree, appearing in what is known as the Olivet Discourse, is perhaps one of the most challenging passages of...

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) says it is “imperative” for Democrats and Republicans to ram an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens through Congress before the GOP becomes the House majority. During a press conference this week, Castro urged House and Senate Republicans to sign onto any one of the various amnesty bills specifically geared to provide visas, green cards, and eventually naturalized American citizenship to millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

The offices are expected to reopen on Monday, November 21, giving Elon Musk and his team a chance to sort things out.
