On Thursday, it was revealed that Twitter had temporarily closed its office buildings and suspended employees' access badges.
The offices are expected to reopen on Monday, November 21, giving Elon Musk and his team a chance to sort things out.
"We're hearing this is because Elon Musk and his team are terrified employees are going to sabotage the company" she continued. "Also, they're still trying to figure out which Twitter workers they need to cut access for."
Lookner just reported 75% of the remaining employees quit today

And now it is time to find out how many people the company really needs to have in order to be in business. Maybe this should happen with the federal government.
Was this over the employees selling Check Marks?
Gone back to India.
I don’t see that as a problem in the long-term, since there are tech workers out there looking for work these days.
More like the demand that workers commute.
Millenials really like getting paid for 2-3 hours of real work/day

What I’m hearing from Twitter employees; It looks like roughly 75% of the remaining 3,700ish Twitter employees have not opted to stay after the “hardcore” email.
As we’re all very aware, folks on visas are stuck, so thats who makes up most of the roughly 25% (or less than 1,000….) expected to stay. The actual impact is not yet known — there have been no internal comms about what comes next. We’re nearly 2 hours post deadline.
Update: Employee’s badge access has been disabled until Monday. It does seem like there will be … not much left of the company by then.

Cool!
I wonder what level of staffing they need to remain functional? This is weird, they behave like cultists who just can’t handle the idea that somewhere, someone is disagreeing with them...
They lost their free lunches, wine bar, snacks and snowflake freebies.
Work, are you kidding?
he has backed off the work at home ban

Story to be updated soon with more: Am hearing that several “critical” infra engineering teams at Twitter have completely resigned. “You cannot run Twitter without this team,” one current engineer tells me of one such group. Also, Twitter has shut off badge access to its offices.
I read a comment on Tweater by a guy who said he was at FarceBook the first five years...claimed you could run Tweater with about 200 good tech people.
No knowledge to know if this is correct or not.
In the automotive business we used to joke that software expands to absorb available computer memory. Of course for these “platforms” on servers the memory approaches infinity LOL.
Facebook and Amazon are laying off tons of developers as we speak. These folk who quit in a huff may find that it won’t be so easy to find a good job in Silicon Valley right about now.

Shout out to all the workers at Twitter. You all built a vital place for connection and deserved so much better.
Millions of people appreciate the space you built and the hard work that went into it. Thank you 💙
Amazing how many have quit and been let go yet the site functions better than ever.
I mean, even Stevie Wonder could see that one coming.
Who just can’t handle the idea that somewhere, someone is daring to disagree with them!!!
“Gone back to India.”
I seriously doubt that those visa workers quit.
Why would you quit if the job market is bad?
