Congressional Republicans say they're poised to push ahead with an investigation into President Joe Biden's family, including his son Hunter, in the coming session -- despite warnings from some in their own caucus not to pursue "hyper-partisan" oversight probes.

Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky, two high-ranking members expected to helm powerful committees when Republicans take control of Congress in January, outlined their plans during a press conference on Thursday, pledging to "pursue all avenues" of wrongdoing and calling investigations into the president's family a "top priority."

Excerpts from the article:

<< said Rep.-elect George Santos, R-N.Y., during an interview on Fox News this week. "I don't want to waste my time in Washington engaging in hyper-partisan issues, I want to deliver results." >>

So going after Trump is not hyper-partisan and a distraction from important issues voters care about. He is what we call an 'idiot', which is too a charitable word to describe him. Another Republican sap playing into Dem's narrative.

Yeah, not pursuing “hyper-partisan oversight probes” after the six years of HELL they’ve put us through doing exactly that? Give me a break.

“warnings my azz...Run with the ball!”

But that by itself won’t win 2024.

That’s all I needed to read. A brazen confirmation that this will be a replay of Ryan’s muzzling and squelching of Nunez and others 2016-18. No subpoenas for you. How can anyone not have seen this coming?

no evidence - investigate Trump for 6 years.

so much evidence - don’t investigate the Bidens!

how does that work, ABC hacks, all three.

ABC is third only to NPR and AP as enemies of this country. I don’t include CNN and MSNBC because they are jokes and don’t have an audience.

I think that the Hunter Biden story is worthy of some amount of investigation because it demonstrates the corruption of Joe Biden. But, it shouldn’t go on forever like the J6 hearings. It should be brief. It should capture the essence of what happened, and it should issue a report and a referral to the Justice Department for Joe Biden.

Should the Republicans impeach him? That’s less clear. Can you impeach someone for corruption during a term that’s already ended. I doubt it. J6 tried to impeach Trump AFTER he had left office. Which is absurd. Impeaching Biden for corruption while he was Vice-President probably won’t fly.

No, I think that the appropriate remedy is prosecution. Since Biden’s DOJ won’t prosecute him, demand the appointment of a special counsel. Keep the pressure ratcheting up. Garland won’t appoint a special counsel. He’s no Jeff Sessions. He won’t be manipulated into that.

But one possible real play here is to not go after Biden on this stuff, and don’t wound him enough to prevent him from running for office in 2024. He’s wildly unpopular. If he runs, the odds are good that he loses. Which is a better outcome for everybody. It would be satisfying to see him prosecuted and sent to jail, but the odds of that happening are slim, and I’d rather take back the White House in 2024.

Can't leave it to law enforcement because it does not seem to go anywhere. And it is a matter of principle, an very important one: a grave security risk at the highest level of government. A mid-level government employee with the same problem would have a real hard time to answer questions from DA.
