Overcoming the impracticality of electric vehicles (EVs) appears to be as big a marketing challenge as convincing diners that plant-based burgers are tasty. Yet, those inspired by the “green” demonization of fossil fuels continue to try. (Snip) EV adoption might follow a pattern similar to what happened with plant-based patties at Burger King. Initially, a group of enthusiastic customers chose the plant-based Whoppers over a meat version because cattle are a purported cause of climate change and eating meat is said to be “unhealthy.” Another group of customers thought it was interesting to see if a veggie burger tasted like...

Real gross domestic product (GDP) is confirmed to have shrunk at an annualized rate of 0.6% in the second quarter of 2022, according to a Thursday report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. New data from the agency confirms the figure, which had already been revised to 0.6% from an earlier estimate of 0.9%. Output contracted at a 1.6% annualized rate in the first quarter. “The decrease in real GDP reflected decreases in private inventory investment, residential fixed investment, federal government spending, and state and local government spending, that were partly offset by increases in exports and consumer spending,” the...

However, the attacks on Nord Stream are more dire than anything we previously saw. This act of sabotage signals a point of no return. The economic damage caused by these attacks is going to land Europe in a recession as deep as the recession of 2009. The environmental damage is immense, with millions of tons of methane polluting the ocean and environment. This winter, Europe is doomed to face the worst energy crisis since the Arab oil embargo of 1974, or worse. European leaders have already identified and condemned Russia as the obvious culprit. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki described...

The White House briefing room erupted into chaos Wednesday as press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told a reporter she was being “incredibly rude” when asking about the president’s mental state. President Joe Biden appeared to call out for Republican Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski on Wednesday while speaking at a White House conference on hunger, nutrition and health. Walorski was tragically killed in a car crash in early August. “And I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan elected officials like Representative McGovern, Senator Braun, Senator Booker, Representative – Jackie, you here? Where’s Jackie?” Biden asked as he looked around....

The vaccine mandate imposed by New York City has turned out to be extremely costly for one of the NBA's best players, Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving. He said Monday that he was given an ultimatum, get vaccinated with one of the experimental mRNA COVID-19 vaccines or forgo a contract extension worth more than $100 million. If he chose to be unvaccinated, Irving said, he was told by management "there's a level of uncertainty of your future, whether you're going to be in this league, whether you're going to be on this team." "It's not giving somebody an ultimatum to...

Last week, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced the GOP’s Commitment to America. It focuses on reversing the worst policies of the Biden agenda that are causing record inflation, increases in crime, more border crossings, deadly drug overdoses, and dependence on China. For some reason, MSNBC thought of inviting the woman who destroyed Atlanta, former Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, to comment on the exceedingly mainstream plan Republicans proposed. How disastrous was Lance Bottoms’s tenure? The fact that she decided not to run for a second term in a city Democrats own should give you a clue. In the wake of the...

Abstract The electric vehicle (EV) market, together with photovoltaic (PV) installations continues to develop at a pace. However, there are concerns that EV and PV installation fires may create more harmful substances than other types of fire. PV modules and car battery fires emit a range of carcinogenic and highly toxic compounds that are not yet fully understood and may pose a threat to firefighters’ health. This also raises the question of the impact on firefighters’ clothing and the safe handling and cleaning after such fires. This article presents a literature and standards review of the firefighters’ protective clothing maintenance...

A teen eco-warrior is going viral for a live radio interview in which she ripped people flying to vacation hotspots like Fiji — before admitting she’d just got back from that exact trip with her family. Izzy Cook, 16, left NewstalkZB host Heather du Plessis-Allan laughing hysterically with her admission Friday while discussing the Greta Thunberg -inspired School Strike 4 Climate she is leading in Wellington, New Zealand. During the chat, the teen environmentalists pushed a plan for people to have to apply to take gas-guzzling flights and only for approved events. When her interviewer asked if people would be...

Sweden's coastguard said on Thursday it had discovered a fourth gas leak on the damaged Nord Stream pipelines earlier this week, after ruptures first reported on Monday sent gas spewing into the Baltic Sea. The European Union suspects sabotage was behind the leaks on the subsea Russian pipelines to Europe, and has promised a "robust" response to any intentional disruption of its energy infrastructure. The leak reported on Thursday is the second one found in Swedish waters, while two others were discovered in Danish waters.

Talk to someone who has run a legitimate free lunch program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture as administered by the Minnesota Department of Education. You will learn that it isn’t a way to wealth and riches without fraud on a massive scale. Feeding Our Future gave us fraud on a massive scale. It was open, obvious, blatant, and gross. Aimmee Bock fronted the scheme and recruited a large cast of Somali participants to get in on the action. Bock’s modus operandi was to scream discrimination whenever anyone questioned the bona fides of her program. Her Somali recruits...

Vladimir Putin will formally annex occupied regions of Ukraine to Russian in a major speech tomorrow, the Kremlin has confirmed, as he attempts to regain the initiative after his forces suffered a humiliating rout earlier this month. Putin's speech comes after Russian-backed proxy governments in Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions held sham referendums earlier this week on whether to go ahead with the move. Armed Russian soldiers taking ballot boxes door-to-door left the results in no doubt, and Ukraine along with its Western allies have vowed not to recognise the results. But it still marks a turning point in...

Why Ray Epps Matters Like Alger Hiss before him, Epps has come to bear the weight of a powerful narrative. For those who do not know who Ray Epps is and why he matters—and this includes most Democrats and many journalists—U.S. Representative Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) served up a handy reference guide last week. Gosar did this in the form of a resolution of inquiry (ROI) directing Attorney General Merrick Garland to hand over all documents relevant to the Epps case within 14 days. “Multiple videos show Ray Epps repeatedly urging crowds of people in Washington, D.C. on January 5 and January...

A Nebraska punter was forced to issue an apology on Tuesday after expressing favorable support for newly elected Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. He said a headline he read made it seem she was in support of family values. "I want to take the time to apologize for a tweet I posted yesterday," his statement read. "I saw a headline from a speech the new Prime Minister of Italy made that seemed to support Christianity and family values. I unfortunately tweeted about this...
