Prominent Republican Endorses Democrat Against Trump Candidate in Oklahoma (yet another state House speaker)

A prominent Oklahoma Republican has formally endorsed a Democrat running for the state's open U.S. Senate seat against her GOP opponent backed by former President Donald Trump.

Kendra Horn, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, revealed the endorsement from Kris Steele on Twitter on Wednesday, sharing a video of the Republican expressing his support for her.

Steele served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013 and was its speaker from 2011 to 2013, as well as speaker pro tempore from 2009 to 2011.

"I'm honored to receive the endorsement of Kris Steele, former Republican Speaker of the Oklahoma House," Horn wrote on Twitter.

Horn is facing an uphill struggle against Republican candidate, U.S. Representative Markwayne Mullin, whom Trump endorsed in July and has had a substantial lead in a slew of recent polling.

In his video, Steele described himself as a "lifelong Republican" who was "supporting Kendra Horn for United States Senate because Kendra treats all people with respect, dignity and value."

"She is not partisan, but she is focused on issues that truly matter," Steele went on, saying that as a father of daughters, he considered Horn "the kind of leader that we need to move our state forward in a positive, productive and healthy direction."

Yet another betrayal from a "Republican" Speaker of the House in a state (current or former).

These people that the Republican Party has pushed and supported to be legislative leaders over the years have been the ABSOLUTE WORST!

From Joe Straus in Texas to Rusty Bowers in Arizona to Robin Vos in Wisconsin, to this this guy Steele in Oklahoma.

Is it any wonder that conservatism is continually thwarted with these John Boehner/Paul Ryan-type "leaders" in state legislatures??

As a Republican leader he should just shut up if he is not supporting the Republican nominee. If he believes in Democracy he needs to understand that the electorate has spoken in the primary. He does not need to endorse, support or even vote for the nominee but he should just keep his big mouth shut.

One of the reasons I could not pull the lever for Cittarelli in the NJ governors race was his overt public condemnation of Trump in 2016. By going public he was stabbing NJ Republicans in the back and giving aid and comfort to Voldemort Clinton.

Just maybe they have something on him or he has something to gain by the endorsement.

Two idiots in that race. We lose either way on that one. Mark Wayne is only god as a number towards a majority. He hugged and thanked the Capitol Hill cop that murdered that woman for counting through a window. He wanted to flood America with Afghans. He loves the Ukraine war.

Trump also endorsed our hopelessly RINO pimp, Lankford. We're never going to get rid of that creep (Lankford).

I was surprised Trump endorsed him as Lankford congratulated Pedo Joe on the election win even before the election was confirmed.

Right, it’s not as if he’s some (as they see it) “far-right” candidate. He’s a nice milquetoast type, and yet he’s STILL not good enough for this worthless RINO Steele. The Democrat is preferable to him because he is and probably always has been a Democrat. And wasn’t it nice for the Democrats to have him as the REPUBLICAN speaker!

Correct about Mullin -- he's scum.

As far as Steele, Oklahoma is one of those states where a Democrat can barely get elected to anything (particularly statewide*) and Democrats know this very well. So they simply call themselves "Republicans". See also Idaho, Utah, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Alaska, Kansas for numerous examples of the same phenomenon.

In those states, probably a very significant percentage of legislators with "(R)" after their names are actually Democrats in disguise. Funny how it never works the other way around: Democrat politicians in heavily-Democrat psychotic places like California, New York, Massachusetts, etc. are NEVER "Republicans in disguise".

Apparently Republican voters are far more gullible than Democrat voters.

* Oh yeah? Then why is Stitt barely ahead of the Democrat in the Governor race?

"These people that the Republican Party has pushed and supported to be legislative leaders over the years have been the ABSOLUTE WORST!"

Not to mention a large number of fake Republicans voted to sanction unlimited voter fraud on January 6th. It's the reason after 40+ years, I am no longer a registered member of the Republican Party. I have NO PARTY, and that's how I am registered.

They are just blind and don’t realize Democrats cheating means they may very well lose their jobs too.
