The last time I checked, the price of a four-year bachelor's degree at the state college that I once graduated from was "slightly less than $325,000." The apparently now routine "lab cost" of a required engineering lab that meets for one hour two times a week is now, according to the website, $8,500. Therefore, today, hundreds of thousands of students are buried in debt before they reach the age of twenty-one. They cannot throw this yoke off their shoulders. Yet this "enormous debt" has nothing to do with the actual cost of providing the thing that they supposedly bought...which, across...

The national gas average hit a new record of $5.00 a gallon this week, and it doesn’t look like prices are going to fall anytime soon. Americans are frustrated with President Joe Biden’s lies about the economy, and many believe he is at fault for their wallets shrinking. A new poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group found that over 53 percent of people “believe the Biden administration is intentionally letting gas prices rise to make Americans use less fossil fuels.” While 56 percent of voters agreed that the high fuel prices is Biden’s fault. Gas prices have nearly doubled since...

Antisemitism in Acre is reminiscent of darker times - opinion These disturbing scenes are reminiscent of darker times in Jewish history, when we were powerless at the hands of our non-Jewish neighbors. Yair Kraus, May 13, 2022 May 11, 2021, was a watershed for Jewish-Arab relations in Israel, especially in my hometown of Acre. On that day, hundreds of Arab residents took to the streets, motivated by their hatred of Jews. They sought to murder, burn and destroy. These scenes were repeated in mixed cities throughout the country, such as Ramle and Lod. Living in Acre, I honestly feared for...

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — A government panel has renamed a Yellowstone National Park mountain that had been named for a U.S. Army officer who helped lead a massacre of Native Americans. A Florida man famed for his intense loathing of former President Donald Trump has been banned from a community pool after berating a woman for her “Joe Biden Sucks” T-shirt, according to a report. Ed McGinty, 74, has long been known in The Villages for plastering his golf cart with signs denouncing Trump and defiantly cruising his community’s sleepy streets. The homemade placards often feature blunt language. “Biden will kick Trump’s fat ass,” reads some of McGinty’s golf cart copy. As a blaring liberal presence in a deeply conservative enclave, McGinty has often skirmished...

Fish cannibalism is rare in the wild, study finds by Tracey Peake, North Carolina State University X-ray image of an adult female Bahamas mosquitofish where a fish she had eaten can be seen inside of her, revealing an occurrence of cannibalism. Credit: Brian Langerhans Mosquitofish and guppies, though known to be cannibalistic in captivity, are extremely unlikely to be cannibals in wild settings, and the rare instances of cannibalism in these fish are likely due to strong competition for food. The findings, from a new Ecology and Evolution study led by U.S. and U.K. researchers, could have implications not only...

Sunday (June 12) marks a new dawn for Russia's fast-food lovers as former McDonald's Corp restaurants reopen under new branding and ownership, more than three decades after the arrival of the hugely popular Western fast food chain. TENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME MATTHEW 5:27-32 Friends, in today’s Gospel from the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord prohibits divorce. Is there any better description of sex anywhere in the literature of the world than that provocative line, “The two of them become one flesh?” In a Jewish context, flesh carries the sense of the whole person. Hence sexual union is meant to be a union at all levels. A husband says to his wife, “My life is no longer about me; it’s about you and the children we will have.” And the wife says the same thing to...

Europe may need to ration its energy supply if efficiency doesn't improve and demand doesn't cool, the International Energy Agency's executive director warned. If winter weather is harsh and drags on while demand in China ramps up as COVID lockdowns continue easing, then rationing is on the table unless energy efficiency starts improving quickly, Faith Birol told the Financial Times. "I wouldn't exclude the rationing of natural gas in Europe, starting from the large industry facilities," he said. Birol suggested better efficiency, renewable sources, and "making the most of existing" energy supplies would help ensure energy security, rather than starting...
