The U.N. wants manufacturers of ammo to number their bullets. Then, the U.N. wants to track where and to whom every bullet in the world is sold or sent. (Photo: Jason Connolly/AFP/ Getty Images) More than two decades ago, the United Nations created a program to curb the trafficking of small arms. It’s done nothing but fire blanks. So now, the U.N. wants to control bullets. In 2001, the United Nations started the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat, and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects. Its next meeting will be held...

We were told to expect a decision “within days” as to Finland applying for membership in NATO, triggering a threatening response from the Kremlin. That estimate proved to be true. This morning, the President and Prime Minister of Finland held a joint news conference where they announced that Finland’s formal application to join the alliance will be submitted this week following a vote in Parliament that is being described as “a formality.” But formally applying is not the same as being formally accepted. While NATO leadership initially announced that Finland’s application would be accepted and approved “quickly,” some analysts are...

The abortion issue deserves a deeper perspective than is currently being offered. Democrats insist that abortion is a human right but there’s something much more pragmatic going on here. Given how our welfare society is causing a population collapse, with people having fewer children, why is there a high-pressure campaign to force this brutal procedure into our legal system? It must be very important to produce so many dead babies—and it is. The reason is simple: money. Our society has reached the point at which, through lack of intellectual clarity and cognitive ability, Americans fail to see that, in many...

In the latest development in Grove City College’s critical race theory saga, the board of trustees at the Pennsylvania school accepted the report from an ad hoc committee Friday (May 13) that acknowledged instances of “CRT advocacy” at the school. In accepting the report, the board also agreed to restore the word “conservative” to the school’s mission statement and adopted a list of “remedial actions” to curb CRT going forward, all while denying allegations of “going woke.” “Today, Board chair Ed Breen announced that the Grove City College Board of Trustees voted to accept and adopt the ad hoc committee...

Fifty years ago, Joe Biden was running for the U.S. Senate, Jimmy Carter was governor of Georgia, Ronald Reagan was governor of California, George H. Bush was swimming uphill in still Democrat Texas, Gerald Ford was the House minority leader, and President Nixon was promoting his foreign policy credentials and wondering whom he'd run against. Then the stuff hit the fan. On this day in 1972, George Wallace was shot during a campaign rally in Maryland. It was a shocker! Wallace will always be remembered as the man who may have made the Nixon presidency possible. We don't know for...

Since the new millennium, what I term "rearview-mirror parenting" has precipitated in parents a sobering self-appraisal of how successfully they raised their children. Myers-Briggs probably won't venture to offer online assessment tools for that because I doubt many people really want to know their percentile. With the advent of Facebook, life's complaints are a thing of the past anyway. Yet friends with tales from Worry Land are semi-privately sharing their concerns — some straightforwardly and others cryptically with furrowed brow. Here are some examples. Some years back, our financial adviser was going through a divorce. We asked how his children...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that no one would think a “creature” like former Precedent Donald Trump would be elected president. When asked about Roe v Wade potentially being overturned by the Supreme Court, Pelosi said, “Who would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become president of the United States by waving a list of judges he would appoint, therefore, getting the support of the far right—and appointing those anti-freedom justices to the court. So, this is not about long game. We played a long game. We won...

So … Ummm … who wants to tell Lori Lightfoot that since she’s IN Texas yes, yes she can read any damn book she wants to? We get what she was trying to do here, supporting the ridiculous agenda from her pals on the Left (predominately teacher’s unions) claiming evil white racist parents are ‘banning books’ but this doesn’t work for MANY reasons. First, and foremost, parents being concerned about books that may have adult themes in them being in their children’s public school library is not ‘banning books. Second, she chose to read ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ in her...

“Questioned, deaf to criticism...” -- A Tense "End of Reign" Climate in Francis' Vatican “Questioned, deaf to criticism...” The end of a lonely reign for Pope FrancisLe FigaroJean-Marie GuénoisMay 13, 2022Francis listens but likes to decide alone at the risk of isolation.ROME - Never before has Pope Francis faced such adversity. In this year 2022, the tenth of his pontificate, everything seems to be conspiring against him. Rome, always quick to burn what it adores, is in turmoil. Some discern a mature phase of the pontificate. Others see an "end of reign", according to an expression common in the...

India, the world’s second largest producer of wheat, has banned all exports with immediate effect after a heatwave affected the crop. A notice in the government gazette by the directorate of foreign trade, dated Friday, said a rise in global prices for wheat was threatening the food security of India and neighboring and vulnerable countries. A key aim is to control rising domestic prices. Global wheat prices have increased by more than 40% since the beginning of the year. Before the war, Ukraine and Russia accounted for a third of global wheat and barley exports. Since Russia’s 24 February invasion,...

On Wednesday, the House passed the $40-plus billion for Ukraine bill. In a separate article, I reviewed what is covered in H.R. 7691, the $40 billion for Ukraine bill. Senator Rand Paul (R- Accountability Czar) has delayed a final vote on the bill at least until sometime next week. So…what happened? It’s a little complicated but, when you understand the procedure, you can see what a service Rand Paul is performing for Americans. On Thursday, several things happened in the Senate regarding the funding bill. Senator John Kennedy (R. LA) put forward a second bill to appoint an Inspector General...

For almost the entire pandemic, San Francisco’s COVID-19 case rates have been lower than the nation’s as a whole. But not anymore. Earlier this spring, the city’s confirmed new case rates climbed above those of the U.S. Then, on May 3, San Francisco’s case rate doubled that of the U.S. As of May 10, the national daily case rate was at about 23 new cases per 100,000 people, whereas in S.F. the rate was at 42 per 100,000, according to data from the New York Times analyzed by The Chronicle.
