U.S. President Donald Trump announced today (Sunday) a dramatic escalation in the confrontation with Iran, declaring a full naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The move comes just hours after reports of the unsuccessful conclusion of a round of talks between the American and Iranian delegations in Pakistan, and after the White House made clear it would not tolerate illegal transit fees being collected in the strait’s international waters.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "Iran promised to open the Strait of Hormuz, and they knowingly failed to do so. This caused anxiety, dislocation, and pain to many people and Countries throughout the World. They say they put mines in the water, even though all of their Navy, and most of their 'mine droppers,'" have been completely blown up. They may have done so, but what ship owner would want to take the chance? There is great dishonor and permanent harm to the reputation of Iran, and what’s left of their 'Leaders,' but we are beyond all of that." As they promised, they better begin the process of getting this INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY OPEN AND FAST! Every Law in the book is being violated by them."

We have a Stable Genius running our country (and the Strait of Hormuz).
“Brilliant!”
No, the Chinese won’t like getting their oil supply cut off.
The Iranian refineries should be targeted instead. With no significant domestic oil revenue, Iran will have to make tanker owners feel safe loading up.
I wouldn’t call raising prices before midterms brilliant.
This should lead to big demand for the world’s other major oil producers - namely the US and Russia. But our Arab allies in the Mideast will want this blockade ended sooner rather than later.
I thought this is what we were trying to avoid? Who are we blockading,Iran no longer has a Navy and has no allies that are willing to use naval assets.
America, Bahrain, UAE, Venezuela and Qatar will be happy to make China happy gas and oil-wise, without Iran or Russia. Snap back on the sanctions. Starve out the rogue states.
Besides, he’s only blockading ships from the countries that agreed to pay the passage surcharge to Iran, which incentivizes them not to pay it.
Like I said, brilliant.
See #7.
Well, then they just have to but it from us, then.
And Trump meets with Winnie-the-Pooh in a few weeks. Nice timing.
Trump: “I know! Let’s blockade the blockade and turn the United States Navy into a pirate fleet!”
Art of the Deal meets The Underpants Gnomes.
Wait- what??
If we target the iranian refineries it hurts us here as the price will go up...and yes- the ChiComs won’t approve but they’ll pressure the islamists to submit...
I think that is the point
Bahrain and Qatar can only export oil through the Strait. Venezuela pumps out less than a million barrels of sludge and that won’t change for at least a decade. Ukraine has been blowing up Russia’s oil ports and tankers. The US, Brazil, etc., can’t ramp up production on a dime.
Glad I bought all those oil futures ETFs right before the war and held onto them. I’m going to need the profits to weather the coming stagflation.
Exactly. I thought a blockade of the Strait is what we were trying to prevent!
Iran, Iraq and Kuwait are the countries that need the Strait open to get oil out of their country. I’d say Trump needs to keep Kuwait on board, I don’t know if he cares one way or another about Iraq.
Just go ahead and either occupy or destroy Kharg Island to shut off their oil revenue like you did Venezuela and Cuba. Mission accomplished.
“Iran, Iraq and Kuwait are the countries that need the Strait open...”
Oops, missed those tiny blips on the map of Qatar and Bahrain.
What would you have done? Ignore it until they have a missile that could hit America which could be within a year? Be specific.
Venezuela is shipping us a Million bbls a month now. Our refinaries are built for tar.
What do you think a blockade does.
