The verdict is expected later. The court case in Stockholm has been a direct embarrassment to Iran’s executioner president, Ebrahim Raisi, dubbed ‘The Butcher of Tehran’ for his hands-on role in the killing of thousands of political prisoners, including teenagers and even pregnant women, during a notorious massacre...

War plunges its participants into a welter of death and destruction, hardship and cruelty, tragedy and irony. The Ukraine war’s agonies have been widely documented but its overlooked ironies are particularly striking. The post-1945 US has proven largely unsuccessful as a warrior nation. Russia and its predecessor state, the USSR, have been far more successful – with one standout exception. One observer thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched his country on potentially its most disastrous military venture since that exception – the USSR’s war in Afghanistan. The Kremlin’s ongoing “special military operation” grants Washington not only a platform of...

The same year, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who Attali helped mold, warned, “we will proceed together toward a new world order, and nobody, and I do mean nobody, will be able to oppose it.” Now, in 2022, we are seeing the World Economic Forum leader Klaus Schwab counterpart...

Forget inflation, forget Ukraine, forget the crashing stock market. Thanks to a troublemaking leak by some jerk inside the U.S. Supreme Court, abortion is dominating the front pages of our media again. The leak of the first draft of a majority decision by the Supremes to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that legalized abortion in the U.S., has reignited the abortion issue overnight. Pro-life, pro-abortion, pro-choice, anti-abortion…. Abortion is a hot and ugly moral and political issue that is always smoldering under the national landscape like a coal mine fire that can never be put out. But...

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher criticized pushes to deal with social media disinformation for always focusing “on the producers, never the consumers, as if we’re all helpless, dumb blondes ready to believe anything” and said that “sorting out the lies from the truth is your job.” Maher stated, “Since this is Mother’s Day weekend, let’s pause and take a moment to think about how your mother was always there for you, looking after you, and keeping you safe, and then realize, that’s not Twitter’s job. Keeping you safe and sorting out the lies from the...

It is said that the highest and most noble work in this life is that of a mother. This is especially true of mothers of children with special needs. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, my admiration goes out to those moms. When I was expecting our second child, I received an urgent phone call from my obstetrician’s office after routine prenatal screening tests. The nurse was extremely anxious for me to come in right away for an amniocentesis. The doctor, painting a picture of doom and gloom, wanted to confirm a suspected Down Syndrome diagnosis for our unborn daughter. It's...
