Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a press conference on Saturday he is hoping Asian countries will “change their attitude” towards Ukraine as European countries have done. Zelensky said that NATO not accepting Ukraine as a member was a “gross mistake” and that some of the alliance’s European member states had underestimated the country. He added, however, that Ukraine’s “unity” and “strength” in response to Russia’s invasion “managed to change the attitude of the alliance and the European member states” toward the country.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s unknown how long a stay will hold off the execution of Richard Bernard Moore — South Carolina’s first-ever inmate to be put to death by a firing squad — as his attorneys pursue legal challenges. But the issuance of Moore’s death warrant, initially planned to be carried out April 29, has renewed interest in how a state puts in motion its plans to shoot an inmate to death. HOW IS THE EXECUTION CARRIED OUT? The agency spent $53,600 in state funding on renovations, including the installation of bullet-resistant glass between the death chamber and witnesses,...

Saturday within the Octave of Easter Mark 16:9-15 Friends, in today’s Gospel, the risen Lord commissions the eleven Apostles to proclaim the Good News to everyone. And this commission to evangelize the people of the world extends to all baptized Christians. To evangelize is to proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and risen from the dead. When this kerygma, this Paschal Mystery, is not at the heart of the project, Christian evangelization effectively disappears, devolving into a summons to bland religiosity or generic spirituality. When Jesus crucified and risen is not proclaimed, a beige and unthreatening Catholicism emerges, a thought system that...

The two marsquakes differ in some important ways. S0976a is characterized by only low frequency energy, like many of the quakes identified so far on the planet, while S1000a has a very broad frequency spectrum. "[S1000a] is a clear outlier in our catalog and will be key to our further understanding of Martian seismology," Horleston said. S0976a is likely to have a much deeper origin than S1000a, she noted. "The latter event has a frequency spectrum much more like a family of events that we observe that have been modeled as shallow, crustal quakes, so this event may have occurred...

No one can hope to read all the Covid-19 publishing that is going on around the world. But some information came my way about Canadian Covid-19 statistics available here.By Guy HatchardProponents of vaccination will be deeply gratified to note that at first glance the unvaccinated appear to be taking a beating. Graphs show the unvaccinated outnumber the vaccinated, for cases, hospitalisation, and death. But reading a little further you are informed that the graphs above cover all cases recorded since December 2020—the total cases since 2020.In December 2020 virtually no one was vaccinated, so at the start of this data...

A transgender underwear designer has been accused of child abuse for selling pants that seek to ‘flatten’ the genitals of boys as young as four. Doctors warned that the underwear, which is made to ‘flatten the side profile of the pelvic area’, could cause infertility. A leading peer claimed the sale of the product amounted to a criminal offence. The garments are sold by Carmen Liu, an eponymous company established by a transgender former ballet dancer that describes itself as ‘the UK’s first brand to design flattening and tucking underwear’. The cotton briefs, which cost £35.70 for a pack of...

The nation’s pro-migrant border chief is rebuking the many Democratic legislators who say the Title 42 barrier should be kept until officials have “a plan” to deal with the expected wave of ambitious and desperate migrants. “The assertion that we do not have plans is an assertion that is not grounded in fact,” homeland secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told a pro-migration reporter at CBS News.

The Leftist elites gave us another ominous sign that they’re stepping up their campaign against the freedom of speech when Hillary Clinton tweeted Thursday: “For too long, tech platforms have amplified disinformation and extremism with no accountability. The EU is poised to do something about it. I urge our transatlantic allies to push the Digital Services Act across the finish line and bolster global democracy before it’s too late.” Apparently in order to “bolster global democracy,” we have to kill it and allow only opinions that the elites approve to be published and circulated. Not surprisingly, Hillary revealed herself in...

First, while most attention has (rightly) been concentrated on the human consequences of the Shanghai lockdowns, there is something else happening there.By Dr Vernon ColemanMore than 30 firms producing crucial electronic components have had to halt production in Kunshan, a city which is close to Shanghai. Explanation: A gorgeous spiral galaxy, Messier 104 is famous for its nearly edge-on profile featuring a broad ring of obscuring dust lanes. Seen in silhouette against an extensive central bulge of stars, the swath of cosmic dust lends a broad brimmed hat-like appearance to the galaxy suggesting a more popular moniker, the Sombrero Galaxy. This sharp view of the well-known galaxy was made from over 10 hours of Hubble Space Telescope image data, processed to bring out faint details often lost in the overwhelming glare of M104's bright central bulge. Also known as NGC 4594, the Sombrero galaxy can be...

Lansing — The Michigan Court of Appeals rejected Thursday a lawsuit led by Republican attorney general hopeful Matt DePerno that attempted to challenge the 2020 election results in Antrim County. In a 3-0 ruling, the court's panel of judges said the suit made no allegations to support the idea that "purported irregularities in Antrim County 'might have affected the outcome' of the presidential election." Likewise, the panel denied the argument that Antrim County resident William Bailey, DePerno's client, was entitled to an audit of the election there. "The statutory language does not allow private citizens to conduct independent audits, and...

Russian forces rained airstrikes on the last bastion of Ukrainian resistance in the shattered port city of Mariupol on Saturday — as defenders inside the Azovstal steel plant released a heartbreaking video of the women and children they say they are protecting. “We haven’t seen the sky or the sun” since Feb. 27, says one little girl in the video, the BBC reported — cautioning that her account, and the video itself, could not be verified.
