KYIV — For more than a decade, Pavel Kulazhanka has sought to overthrow the authoritarian regime of Aleksandr Lukashenko in his native Belarus. First, it was simple street protests. Then, sabotaging train lines and bombing military outposts. Eventually, he had to flee — and landed in New York City where he became a mixed martial arts fighter. But he thinks the best shot yet at toppling Lukashenko — and Russian President Vladimir Putin, without whose support many in Belarus think Lukashenko would quickly fall — has come with the war in Ukraine. He is one of hundreds of Belarusians who...

There is so much information coming out of Disney since the company decided to go full woketard in response to the passage of Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill. Last week, leaked videos of a meeting between executives and high-level employees within the company gave people an inside look at the push to drown children in LGBTQ+ content. Well, Christopher Rufo, who was responsible for dropping the leaked Disney meeting videos on Twitter, chose this morning to blast Disney in a fashion that can only be accurately described as legendary. If there’s one thing a company that is actively trying...

He was a good student. In Ukraine’s first years as an independent nation he earned a place studying law at Kryvyi Rih Economic Institute, the local campus of Kyiv National Economic University. But it was his talent as a performer that was clear to fellow high school student Irina Shport, who starred alongside Vova in a production of Marriage by Nikolai Gogol – a play about a botched matchmaking. Among a high-calibre cohort, “he was always No. 1”, she says. One of the few creative outlets in Soviet times was the live television comedy KVN (Klub vesyólykh i nakhódchivykh or...

The 'European Commission ' will soon trigger a powerful new mechanism to cut funding to Hungary for eroding the bloc’s rule-of-law standards, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Tuesday. The announcement comes two days after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán won a fourth consecutive term. Hungary is the first country to face proceedings under the new power, which gives the EU the authority 'to cut millions in EU payouts to countries where it determines' rule-of-law breaches are putting the bloc’s budget at risk. The Commission’s decision to move ahead could signal a turning point in Brussels’ willingness to go...

It should be easy to find out what really happened to the massacred civilians in the Ukrainian town. The truth about Bucha is out there, but perhaps too inconvenient to be discovered A woman walks in Bucha, in the outskirts of Kyiv, Ukraine, Sunday, April 3, 2022. “In war, truth is the first casualty.” This quote has been attributed to Aeschylus, a 6th BCE Greek tragedian noted for his “copious use of imagery, mythic allusion, grand language, wordplay and riddles.” It is only fitting, therefore, that the man who first gave word to the concept of modern-day war-time propaganda would...

MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes said on Tuesday’s “All In” that the “basis behind” Florida’s Parental Rights in Education, deemed “Don’t Say Gay’ by its opponents, was a “loathsome” age-old smear against members of the LGBTQ community, claiming they are trying to prime children for sexual abuse. Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Ivanka Trump, the daughter and senior White House adviser of former President Donald Trump, was “cooperative” during her eight-hour testimony before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol. Raskin said, “Chair Bennie Thompson said afterward that she was a cooperative witness, and in that sense, she exemplifies the vast majority of the people who we have contacted, who’ve come before the committee, who have told exactly in a lot of cases, mostly what they know in other cases. Essentially people are cooperating.”

Earlier today, Army Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the House Armed Services Committee “[Ukraine] is a very protracted conflict.” Milley anticipates many months, if not years, of combat fighting inside Ukraine as Putin carves out the eastern side of the country permanently. According to Milley, “I think it’s at least measured in years… this is a very extended conflict that Russia has initiated. I think NATO, the U.S., Ukraine and all of the allies and partners supporting Ukraine are going to be involved in this for quite some time,” he said. The nature of...

The city of San Diego has catapulted off a cliff in woke climate change stupidity. City officials, without consultation or announcement, redesigned a two-lane road along a stretch of Gold Coast Drive in the Mira Mesa suburb that accommodates two lanes of bike traffic but only one center lane for vehicles. But the road remains a two-way street for vehicular traffic, throwing every ounce of common sense out of the window. The city’s reckless actions have even confused and angered some liberal residents. But it isn’t a one-way road; it’s still a two-way traffic road with a single lane. Vehicles...

New clinical research shows that lamivudine, a reverse transcriptase inhibitor widely used in HIV therapy, stopped disease progression in 25% of patients with fourth-line metastatic colorectal cancer. Findings from the trial raise the possibility of an unexpected promising direction in cancer treatment, not just colorectal cancer. The trial included 32 patients with advanced metastatic colon cancer whose disease progressed despite four lines of previous cancer treatments. The first nine patients received the standard HIV-approved dose of lamivudine. "After giving them only this one drug—nothing else—we saw signs of disease stability," says co-senior author David T. Ting, MD, of the Mass...
