A growing number of states this week announced plans to end or phase out mask mandates, but New Mexico won’t be joining them – at least for now. Acting Health Secretary Dr. David Scrase said Wednesday his email inbox is brimming with messages “from people essentially demanding an end to the mask mandate.” But he said the state plans to stay the course with its health orders and isn’t ready to say if they will be extended again. The current orders – which last week were extended through March 4 – include a mask requirement in indoor public settings. “We...

Former Trump Administration National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s sister-in-law just filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against CNN. Valerie Flynn claims the network deceptively edited a video to falsely make it appear she is a follower of QAnon. The lawsuit says: “CNN abandoned all journalistic standards and integrity, including CNN’s own standards and code of ethics, in writing, editing, and publishing the false narrative. CNN did not seek the truth or report it. It betrayed the truth to sensationalize the news for self-glory, profit and politics. “The entire family then exclaimed, ‘God Bless America.’ In the altered clip used in the...

Gu’s Instagram page is a collection of motivational and inspirational slogans, a scrapbook designed to present a specific, curated image of her to the world. One user commented on an otherwise innocuous post: “Why can you use Instagram and millions of Chinese people from mainland cannot, why you got such special treatment as a Chinese citizen. That’s not fair, can you speak up for those millions of Chinese who don’t have internet freedom,” user “cilla chan” wrote. “Anyone can download a vpn,” Gu replied, “it’s literally free on the App Store”. The website Protocol noted that multiple users fired back...

Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke appears to have flip-flopped – again – on confiscating AR-15s, as polls show him trailing behind Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. The failed senatorial and presidential contender said earlier this week that he has "no interest in taking" assault weapons from gun owners. "I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone," O’Rourke said to reporters in Tyler, Texas. "What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment. I want to make sure that we protect our fellow Texans far better than we’re doing right now."

Multiple reports hold that this year’s Oscars won’t require vaccines in part because some nominees aren’t vaccinated>P One of the more baffling news reports this week is that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will not be requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for attendees of the 2022 Oscars. And on Thursday night during his opening monologue, Jimmy Kimmel joked that it’s time to “wildly speculate” about who precisely the Academy is catering to. “Let the witch hunt begin,” he joked. So, in case you’re catching up, supposedly, despite having a vaccine mandate for all employees, the Academy has ditched a...

Explanation: Similar in size to large, bright spiral galaxies in our neighborhood, IC 342 is a mere 10 million light-years distant in the long-necked, northern constellation Camelopardalis. A sprawling island universe, IC 342 would otherwise be a prominent galaxy in our night sky, but it is hidden from clear view and only glimpsed through the veil of stars, gas and dust clouds along the plane of our own Milky Way galaxy. Even though IC 342's light is dimmed and reddened by intervening cosmic clouds, this sharp telescopic image traces the galaxy's own obscuring dust, young star clusters, and glowing pink...

Comedian-actress Milana Vayntrub, who is known to millions of TV viewers for playing cheerful saleswoman ‘Lily’ in AT&T’s ubiquitous wireless commercials, has penned a personal essay in which she expresses gratitude for abortion, describing her own experience terminating her unwanted child as ‘no big deal.’ One of the real horrors of legal abortion besides the obvious killing of babies has been the demonic mindset that has risen up, referring to abortion as a ‘human right’ and as ‘healthcare’ when it is none of those things. Over the years, legal abortion has been pushed, in some parts of the world, all...

The move threatens to plunge Libya back to the split between two warring, parallel administrations that governed from 2014 until a unity government was installed last year as part of a U.N.-backed peace plan. A spokesman for the parliament said it had chosen former interior minister Fathi Bashagha by a show of hands after the only other candidate withdrew. The parliament wants to take control of Libya's political future after the collapse of an election that was planned for December, saying Dbeibah's interim government is no longer valid and pushing any new election back until next year.

His stories are about his fictional races doing their...
