My Dad has bone marrow cancer, and though it has sort of gone away, we all know it's coming back, and he has to remain on his chemo meds. He played MLB back when there were 16 teams. He hit cleanup behind Willie Mays for a bit w/ the SF Giants, and wound up trade-bait and finally quit - making $5,600/year being a LH pinch hitter w/ no place to play. He also coached Little League (in Williamsport of all places), and touched a lot of lives through the years - which I didn't really realize until later in life....

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A toxicologist testified Wednesday at the federal trial of three former officers charged with violating George Floyd’s civil rights that it wasn’t drug use, heart disease nor an agitated state known as “excited delirium” that caused Floyd’s death after officers pinned him to the pavement in May 2020. Dr. Vik Bebarta, an emergency physician and toxicologist and professor at the University of Colorado in suburban Denver, bolstered the prosecution’s contention that Floyd died because of how Officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee down on the Black man’s neck. Bebarta said he concluded that Floyd “died...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Following outrage on the political right, the Biden administration said Wednesday that a grant program to help prevent additional harm to people who use illicit drugs will not pay for safer pipes to smoke crack or meth. “No federal funding will be used directly or through subsequent reimbursement of grantees to put pipes in safe smoking kits,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and White House drug policy adviser Rahul Gupta said in a statement. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said separately that was never the intention, complaining that impression was created by “inaccurate reporting.”...

A far-right podcaster working for The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro‘s right-wing outlet, has been attempting to dupe dozens of trans people and doctors into participating in an anti-trans documentary under false pretenses, a prominent trans activist revealed this week. Matt Walsh, who has an extensive history of overtly bigoted rhetoric predating his work for Shapiro’s burgeoning media empire, has become a leading anti-trans voice in the conservative movement of late. The one-time shock jock’s cartoonishly hateful remarks about the LGBTQ community have only increased his public profile and garnered him right-wing media stardom, including frequent appearances on Fox News. Along...

Mehdi Hasan is a hate-filled far-Left MSNBC host who espouses fashionable Big Lies such as the claim that “white supremacy is now a key ideology of the Republican Party” and “the far-right domestic terror threat is more dangerous than even Al Qaeda after 9/11.” During the Whoopi Goldberg controversy, remarks that Hasan made in 2009 resurfaced, leading many to question why Hasan’s star has consistently risen in the Leftist media, despite his manifest hatred and contempt for non-Muslims. Hasan, a Shi’ite, said of the early Sunni caliph Yazid: “All of these ulama unanimously agree that at the very minimum if...

Don’t write off Kyiv, but if Vladimir Putin attacks "any day" under cover of wargames in Belarus starting this week, President Biden will have an instant decision to make. Ukraine does not want U.S. or NATO ground forces. They’ve already lost 14,000 in the eastern region conflict with Russia and want to fight Russia themselves. However, Ukraine will need help, fast. U.S. commanders would receive word of a Russian attack in less than five minutes. NATO’s ready. Is Biden? Biden’s chaotic response to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan still casts doubt on his skills as commander in chief, and the...

A handful of Democrat-led states over the past 24 hours have announced plans to drop their mask mandates in the coming weeks, and Republicans are claiming politics are at play. New Jersey, New York, California, Oregon, Connecticut and Delaware have all announced plans to roll back their mask requirements, just within the last day. 'I'd love to see whatever internal polling went around the Democrat Party last week - it's certainly no coincidence that Democrat-run states are dropping mandates as fast as they can!,' Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., told DailyMail.com. The Biden administration, however, still recommends indoor masking for schools...

The federal agency that oversees the legal immigration system on Wednesday replaced a controversial Trump-era mission statement that had removed the "nation of immigrants" label, calling the U.S. "a nation of welcome and possibility" in its new creed. In an internal message to agency employees, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Ur Jaddou said the new mission statement better reflects the Biden administration's "commitment to an immigration system that is accessible and humane." Wednesday's change, while symbolic, is part of a broader Biden administration effort to erase remnants of the immigration agenda employed by the Trump administration, which focused...

The Biden administration and Democrats have waged war on the American oil and gas industry, all while Russia expands its oil and gas footprint around the world. Off the bat, resident Biden canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline, stopped leasing on federal lands, and unleashed regulations that have destroyed at least 10,000 good-paying oil and gas jobs. As a member of Congress, it is my duty to inform the public and stand up against flawed regulations that will impede or damage the lives of the American people. With many crises facing the nation like record high gas prices, inflation, and the...

It’s All Good Bakery on Oakland's Martin Luther King Jr. Way looks like many bakeries in the area, offering up sweet potato pie and coconut pineapple cake. But recently, the small neighborhood storefront has become the center of controversy — namely because the building, which was the first headquarters of the Black Panther Party (BPP), might get demolished and rebuilt as a five-story, 20-unit mixed-use housing complex. On Monday evening, dozens of members of the public joined the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board meeting to discuss the historical significance of the building. After the firm Gunkel Architects presented a mock-up of...
