PARIS -- Should people be denied the right to earn a living because their job suddenly requires them to inject a substance into their body that is still technically in clinical trials and whose known efficiency and impact is literally evolving in real time? When faced with that question, most developed countries came down on the side of politics rather than pure science - at least until a court rules otherwise, as was recently the case with the U.S Supreme Court and Joe Biden's vaccine mandates for private employers. In other words, the political impetus to be seen to be...

"Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour." Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 15 1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2 Why do...

[LOUDOUN COUNTY] School board votes to implement local mask policy, countering Governor’s order

COVID has shown us how rigid a technocracy can be, even in a supposedly democratic society. We were having tea under sparkling Southern California stars, just the two of us. Seated with me, the distinguished lady was the director of the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. She had just given a lecture on Dark Age Britain after the withdrawal of the Roman legions in the early 400s. The army had gone south to deal with imperial politics. I ventured the idea that maybe this period was not quite so dark. After all, we know from Scandinavian stave temples that they could...

Dulles, Virginia – A friend was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery this week. At 38-years old, natural causes claimed him too soon, but there is solace in knowing his memory is preserved in a place of earthly honor and his soul rests in eternal glory. A 16-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, GySgt Josh Miles was quietly patriotic and intensely engaged in serving his country and her citizens. Josh grew up on a ranch in New Mexico where he learned to ride horses and to take care of himself. He loved the sense of freedom offered by...

The Air Force Special Tactics community encountered wokeness, but resistance in the lower ranks sparked a backlash. A few days ago, I noticed a disturbing tweet by Representative Dan Crenshaw about preferential treatment and lowered standards in the Air Force Special Tactics selection course. Having sufficient background to be fairly confident in my understanding of the matter, I'll place links to many of my sources here, here, here, here, here, and here. The gist of the story is that the Air Force Special Tactics community encountered wokeness, but resistance in the lower ranks sparked a backlash. Air Force Special Tactics...

When the Supreme Court blocked enforcement of the Biden administration's vaccinate-or-test rule for private employers last Thursday, the response from the three dissenters was familiar. Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan argued that courts should not override the judgment of the government experts who know best how to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The dissenters were right that the courts are not charged with formulating public health policies. But the courts are charged with deciding whether those policies are legal, and they forsake that responsibility when they reflexively defer to politicians and bureaucrats who claim an emergency justifies...

'The Biden Administration continues to punish states that are succeeding.' A media release Tuesday from the Governor’s Office decried “inadequate” funding for bridge repair from the federal government, lamenting that Florida again got less money than it deserves from the Joe Biden administration. Gov. Ron DeSantis’ remarks dissed the “inadequate allotment” as another “disservice to the state and its nearly 22 million residents.” He called it further evidence that Democrats in Washington just don’t want Florida to succeed. “Last week, the Biden administration announced it would continue to harm Florida for its success through the distribution of less than $245...

The board of Chicago Public Media voted Tuesday to approve the deal, which was first disclosed here in September. The merger is expected to be finalized by Jan. 31.

FORTRESS MONROE, Friday, Jan. 17, via BALTIMORE, Jan. 18. It is confidently asserted to-day that Gen. WOOL has sent notice to Gen. HUGER, at Norfolk, to remove the women and children from that city. Fail to study the past (history), from energizing grand aspirations to how-it's-done tactics, and you will fail the present. Failure to study the basics definitely occurred when the Biden administration clan committed its disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal. The relevant history Biden administration bigwigs failed to study was how to safely and professionally conduct a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation from a combat zone. The Biden bunch has no excuse. All the essential operational details (based on hard lessons learned) are laid out in a Joint Chiefs of Staff pamphlet titled Joint Publication 3-68. Anyone literate may read the "Joint Pub" on the...

When Ohio State played Utah at the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day, 87,842 people packed into that stadium to watch the game. On New Year's Eve, 66,839 attended the Orange Bowl to watch Georgia take on Michigan, and 76,313 attended the Cotton Bowl to watch Alabama take on Cincinnati. COVID-19 did not stop them. When the 2022 Winter Olympics start in Beijing in a little more than two weeks, the various venues for that event will hold only those who the Communist government of the People's Republic of China allows to be there. No one will be allowed to...

AN OPEN LETTER TO JOE MANCHIN AND KYRSTEN SINEMA Joe and Kyrsten, I see you both, while you are Democrats, as the sane versions of Democrats. You both have remained firm in your conviction that the Senate must not become a cheap version of the House of Representatives. You have stood firm in your support of the filibuster, as a tool to ensure that legislation must be approved by a supermajority of your peers. This limitation prevents bad legislation from becoming law. Your Democrat colleagues have tried every parliamentary trick to pass the 'voting rights' legislation. Both of you are...

“Anybody who believes in American democracy has got to vote to enable us to go forward with 50 votes to suspend the filibuster, at least on this vote,” he [Sanders] said. “I hope we have 50 votes. If we don’t, they’re going to have to go home and explain to their constituents.” During negotiations over the Build Back Better Act, Sanders repeatedly voiced frustration with Manchin’s opposition to expanding Medicare benefits and Sinema’s reluctance to give Medicare wide-ranging power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices. Sinema eventually signed off on a scaled-down proposal to make prescription medications more affordable.

It’s just the flu, bro. Yesterday I listened to a priest give a good reflection on fear over the past two years due to Coronavirus. He said that fear is not a Christian virtue. Courage, on the other hand, is a gift of the Holy Spirit. He said that over 100 times the Bible mentions to not fear. And that Jesus himself says to not fear 10 times. This makes sense when we look at where the covidiocy has reached it’s peak. Godless Europe, Australia, Canada and many states in the US lack faith, so they lack courage. A population...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemRomans 5Peace and Hope 5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through...

The Washington D.C. wheeler-dealers are making patsies out of the rest of us. Members of Congress get million-dollar-plus expense accounts, lifetime pensions and lavish perks, but for the greedy, that's not enough. They're also racking up big bucks trading stocks in the very same companies Congress regulates. Stock picking by members of Congress should be illegal because they have an unfair edge over the rest of us. They're privy to the regulatory burdens or legal changes these companies are likely to face. And top leaders, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, actually control what's ahead for these companies. That control...
