The prosecutor weighing whether Donald Trump and others committed crimes by trying to pressure Georgia officials to overturn Joe Biden’s presidential election victory said a decision on whether to bring charges could come as early as the first half of this year. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said in an interview with The Associated Press last week that her team is making solid progress, and she’s leaning toward asking for a special grand jury with subpoena power to aid the investigation. “I believe in 2022 a decision will be made in that case,” Willis said. “I certainly think that...

Lenders are again welcoming borrowers with less-than-pristine credit, a vote of confidence in the health of the U.S. economy and Americans’ finances. An estimated 29.2 million general-purpose credit cards were issued to people with credit scores of 660 and below last year, according to projections from credit-reporting firm TransUnion, up from 20.4 million in 2020 and 26.3 million in 2019. That is generally the threshold where lenders view consumers as having fair, rather than good, credit. Even subprime borrowers, a group shunned during the pandemic, are finding it easier to get credit. Lenders issued roughly 11.6 million general-purpose credit cards...

And immediately his leprosy was cleansed." "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head." WASHINGTON (AP) — Heading into a critical midterm election year, the top political concerns of Americans are shifting in ways that suggest Democrats face considerable challenges to maintaining their control of Congress. A poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that management of the coronavirus pandemic, once an issue that strongly favored President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats, is beginning to recede in the minds of Americans. COVID-19 is increasingly overshadowed by concerns about the economy and personal finances — particularly inflation — which are topics that could lift Republicans. Just 37% of Americans name...

It's been TEN years, since the accident that took the lives of two people, dear to my heart: TiaPam and Cardhu. They were both active Freepers.Just Amy opened a thread, requesting prayers for me, and there were almost 1,000 replies.A friend copied every page of those posts, and bound it in a folder for me. For ten years, now, I have referred to those pages many times! The prayers, well wishes, encouragement, scriptures, and pictures have had a tremendous healing effect! Many of the posters are no longer with us, and many are new to this forum. But those who...

A group of 11 North Carolina voters filed a legal challenge to disqualify Rep. Madison Cawthorn from running for a second term, arguing his involvement in a rally preceding the Jan. 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill constitutionally bars him from waging another campaign. Lawyers for the 11 voters filed the suit to the State Board of Elections, contending that Cawthorn’s comments in the speech shortly preceding the insurrection violate the 14th Amendment, which states in part that no person “who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress ... to support the Constitution of the United States,...

Please pray for my 90 year old Mother who was hospitalized from COVID. She's very healthy but since we brought her in for low oxygen levels (84%) she's started to decline. She's quarantined and we're only able to reach her via cell. Doctors put her on Remdisivir and dexamethasone which appears to be the standard FDA script. Hospital staff seem only marginally helpful. At this point the whole family feels like we're on thin ice; i.e., don't upset the hospital staff with questions / recommendations because we have no access to our Mother. Please pray that the Lord will give...

The United States staggered through a steady onslaught of deadly billion-dollar weather and climate disasters in an extra hot 2021, while the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions last year jumped 6% because of surges in coal and long-haul trucking, putting America further behind its 2030 climate change cutting goal. Three different reports released Monday, though not directly connected, paint a picture of a U.S. in 2021 struggling with global warming and its efforts to curb it. Scientists have long said human-caused climate change makes extreme weather nastier and more frequent, documenting numerous links to wild and deadly weather events. They say...

Paris (AFP) – Air France-KLM said Monday it would add a surcharge of up to 12 euros ($13,50) on its tickets to try to offset the cost of using more expensive sustainable aviation fuel. Sustainable aviation fuel or SAF is chiefly made from used cooking oil or from forestry or agricultural waste. It allows airlines to reduce carbon emissions by 75 percent compared with kerosene over the lifecycle of the fuel. Jet fuel currently accounts for between 20 and 30 percent of airlines' costs. Take-up of SAF, which is between four and eight times more expensive, has been slow. Current...
