The state of Connecticut has issued a new order putting COVID patients in nursing homes as hospitals see overcrowding thanks to the latest COVID variant. The state will issue the order despite Democrat governors in multiple states like New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey forcing nursing homes early in the COVID pandemic to take COVID patients — decisions that resulted in as many as 50,000 elderly people dying as COVID spread in their facilities. The spread of COVID in nursing homes in New York was so bad after Andrew Cuomo issued his order that 15,000 or more nursing home residents...

If you like dishonesty, and dollop after dollop of general disgustingness, Joe Biden had the speech for you. Here he was for his big Jan. 6 moment in front of Congress, denouncing his predecessor, President Trump, defending voter fraud, demanding more of it, and calling it 'democracy.' His speech was ultimately an argument for his own right to power, by fair means or foul. Andrea Widburg has an excellent piece describing the Academy Awards quality of the whole wretched specter here. video (You'll need to listen to this afterward as sort of a mental shower, something to get the stink...

The family of tennis champion Novak Djokovic read a statement from the player at a press conference on Thursday in his native Belgrade, Serbia, delivered from captivity in a migrant facility in Australia.Australian authorities apprehended Djokovic upon arriving in Melbourne on Wednesday to prepare to compete in the Australian Open, one of the four top tournaments in professional tennis. Upon landing, however,...

In the day long events commemorating January 6th, Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a telling statement to her fellow members and the public at large. Pelosi declared “It is essential that we preserve the narrative of January 6th.” Part of that narrative is that this was not a riot but an “insurrection,” an actual “rebellion” against our country. Pelosi’s concern over the viability of that narrative is well-based as shown by a recent CBS News poll. The majority of the public does not believe that this was an “insurrection” despite the mantra-like repetition of members of Congress and the media. The...

An artist’s impression of a red supergiant star in the final year of its life emitting a tumultuous cloud of gas. This suggests at least some of these stars undergo significant internal changes before going supernova. Credit: W.M. Keck Observatory/Adam Makarenko Astronomers Capture Red Supergiant’s Death Throes “For the first time, we watched a red supergiant star explode,” researcher says. For the first time ever, astronomers have imaged in real time the dramatic end to a red supergiant’s life — watching the massive star’s rapid self-destruction and final death throes before collapsing into a type II supernova. Led by researchers...

It’s been the most astonishing two weeks for American public life. The best way I can describe this is by observation. In the Northeast of the U.S., and in many other parts of the country, everywhere you go right now, you see sick people milling around. After two years of work to control the spread, after brutal shutdowns of the whole country — shutdowns that happened two years too early, as judged by actual case trends! — COVID is here. Not just here. It is everywhere. The case counts are beyond anything anyone on the planet could have imagined a year...

A new drug with the potential to treat endometriosis-associated pain with very few side effects is getting closer to official approval. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition and the leading cause of pelvic pain worldwide. With no known cause or cure, many patients have run out of options and are living with chronic and unrelenting symptoms. Safe and effective long-term treatments that can help patients live pain-free lives are desperately needed, and yet to date, very few drugs have been approved for clinical use. Those that have, like elagolix and leuprorelin (aka Orilissa and Lupron), don't work for everyone and...

In some Eastern European and Middle Eastern countries, Christmas is officially celebrated on January 7. That is because numerous Orthodox Christian churches follow the Julian calendar for religious celebrations. The Julian calendar runs 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar, the standard international calendar in use today. The Julian calendar took effect under the reign of Julius Caesar in 45BC. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII created a new calendar to correct the discrepancy between calendar time and calculated astronomical time. It became known as the Gregorian calendar. But to begin with, only Catholic countries adopted the changes and Orthodox Christian countries...

NEW YORK, NY—Sources in Washington confirmed today that the National September 11 Memorial will be filled in and replaced with a new January 6 memorial that commemorates the zeroes of people killed on that fateful day. The memorial will be a 50-foot-tall bronze statue of Nancy Pelosi's stolen podium. "Yes, 9/11 was bad, but it is time to make way for an even worse attack on our nation: that terrible day one year ago when Trump supporters walked through the Capitol building," said the designer of the statue, American artist Laslo Parkinson. "I've designed this statue to give people...

A woke Historian has sparked fury online after comparing the January 6 riot to the Holocaust during an MSNBC appearance making the first anniversary of the violence at the Capitol. During an MSNBC appearance on Thursday to mark the one year anniversary of the Capitol riots Rice University history professor Douglas Brinkley boldly compared the days events to that of the Holocaust - which saw 11 million people exterminated by the Nazis - Pearl Harbor and the September 11 attacks. Brinkley told MSNBC anchor Craig Melvin that there is irreputable proof of what happened that day and history wont be...

BRONX, NY—United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited Woodlawn Cemetery this morning to grieve in quiet dignity at her own grave on the 1-year anniversary of her death on January 6. She was seen openly weeping and tearing her clothes by the photo crew she brought with her. AOC, who was killed in the Capitol’s House Chamber by murderous Trump supporters, left a wreath where her body had been peacefully laid to rest. Though she made no official statements, eyewitness testimony claims she “looked mournfully off into the distance” as if contemplating the fleeting brevity of life.

“Huge numbers” of British schoolchildren are refusing to wear masks in classrooms in line with government guidance, a union official has said. In its latest guidance issued on Jan. 2, the UK Department for Education (DfE) recommended that secondary school pupils in England should wear face coverings inside classrooms to slow the spread of the Omicron variant of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus. Before that, masks were already recommended in outdoor communal areas and corridors. Secondary school students are also advised to take a lateral flow test twice a week. But according to the NASUWT teachers’ union, there has...

There are a lot of stereotypes about the state of Wisconsin: We’re all farmers, everyone’s drunk all the time, and we eat cheese with every meal. While some of these things may be true (i.e. beer-battered cheese curds), the dairy state produces some of the most unique and delicious flavors in the Midwest. Don’t be shy and head up north to see all that Wisconsin has to offer. 1. Cheese curds Just when you thought that cheese couldn’t get any better, Wisco went and deep fried it. Spice it up with jalapeño cheddar or cool it down with ranch dressing....

So far, most American adults have received $3,200 in direct stimulus payments — $1,200 from the CARES Act in March 2020, $600 at the end of that year and then $1,400 from the American Rescue Plan under the Biden administration in 2021. That doesn’t count payments for qualifying dependents or other stimulus money like expanded unemployment or advance payments on the child tax credit. But all good things must come to an end, and it now appears that with 2022 upon us, the pandemic stimulus well has mostly run dry. If you were banking on another round of tax-free cash...
