Don't know how lively this thread will be, but there is coverage of sorts going on so I figured it merited a thread for FReepers to comment on and post updates as they occur.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) announced on Tuesday that she will not run for reelection in 2022, becoming the latest House Democrat to bow out of Congress ahead of what is expected to be a difficult election year for the party. "Today, I'm announcing that I will not be a candidate for reelection to Congress in 2022," Speier said in a video announcing her decision. "It's time for me to come home," she added. "Time for me to be more than a weekend wife, mother and friend."

Details of the second incident, which involved the 15-year-old dragging another girl into an empty classroom and touching her breasts, were revealed Monday in Loudoun County juvenile court.

Parents in a Texas school district say an activist for Critical Race Theory threatened them at a recent school-board meeting when he warned them, "I got over 1,000 soldiers ready to go." "Locked and loaded." Fox News reported the situation developed at a recent meeting of the Fort Worth Independent School District board meeting, after which parent Hollie Plemmons said, "Absolutely, it made me feel threatened. I'm scared and I'm afraid he's going to do something." Threats against parents, especially those who object to extremist curriculum components like CRT, which openly teaches that white people all are racist, have been...

VIDEOAs you can see in this clip from a 2016 debate when she was running for the U.S. Senate, the future Border Czar used to be a speed speaker. Perhaps Kamala Harris also has another future career as an auctioneer.

Apparently, former Vice President Mike Pence is just as delusional as the rest of the Conservative, Inc., establishment faction of the GOP. That milquetoast man, according to a Newsweek report and CNN segment, thinks that he’s ready to pose a “major challenge” to Trump if Trump decides to run in 2024. The report, which relies on Alyssa Farah, a former advisor to the former VP, details what Pence sees as his selling points and, hilariously delusionally, presents Pence as someone that might actually challenge Trump in 2024. Farah, who has been highly critical of Trump since the 2020 election, went...

Billions of dollars for roads, bridges, water projects and broadband will soon flow to Utah and other Western states now that President Joe Biden signed the sweeping infrastructure bill Monday. Biden called the plan a “monumental step forward” to rebuilding the backbone of the country without raising taxes. “America’s moving again, and your life is going to change for the better,” he said before putting his pen to the legislation. “This law is a blue-collar blueprint to rebuild America.” Few Republicans in the Mountain West supported the $1.2 trillion package, including $550 billion in new spending, to shore up the...

The federal government is about to back mortgages of nearly $1 million for the first time. The maximum size of home-mortgage loans eligible for backing by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are expected to jump sharply in 2022, a reflection of the rapid appreciation in home prices nationally over the past year. The increase may make it easier and cheaper for some borrowers to buy a home, particularly in more expensive areas of the country, but the higher limits are also likely to elevate debate about how big of a mortgage is too big to be backed by the government....

I consider it both a strange mystery and a settled matter of the faith that God prefers not to do things alone. Repeatedly, He acts in a manner that involves the actions of others when it would seem, He could have acted alone. Why would God reveal His Word to the world through the agency of men? Why would He bother to use writing? Why not simply communicate directly with people? Why speak to Moses in a burning bush? Why did the Incarnation involve Mary? Could He not have simply become man, whole, complete, adult, in a single moment? Such...

Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, said Monday that he has uncovered a secret operation by nonprofits to house and move migrants within the United States, providing them with a packet on how to navigate and assimilate into the country. During an appearance on "Fox & Friends" Monday, Gooden said that he was contacted by a whistleblower from San Diego who provided him with details on the kind of information the nonprofit groups were providing to the migrants. The Texas representative subsequently hopped on a plane and discovered that abandoned hotels in the California city were being utilized as shelters for the...

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla (AP) — A 47-year-old Florida teacher hospitalized with COVID-19 has died after her husband sued in an unsuccessful effort to force doctors to treat her with ivermectin. Tamara Drock died Friday, 12 weeks after being admitted to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Ryan Drock told the Palm Beach Post. He sued the hospital last month in an attempt to require doctors to administer ivermectin, a drug used to treat conditions caused by parasitic worms. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved the drug to treat COVID-19, saying it hasn’t proved effective in pre-clinical trials....

Event will feature Chinese military contractors behind hypersonic missile test A scion of the Bush family is lending his influence and family name to boost a Chinese government contractor blacklisted by the U.S. government for its links to the Chinese military. Jon Gruden is done coaching in the NFL, but he is not done with the NFL. The Raiders coach who resigned after it was discovered he used racial and misogynistic language in emails with former Washington Football Team General Manager Bruce Allen sued the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell for orchestrating the “selective leaking” of the emails that led to his resignation. “Jon Gruden has filed suit against the National Football League and Commissioner Goodell in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada,” Adam Hosmer-Henner, Gruden’s attorney, wrote. “The complaint alleges that the defendants selectively leaked Gruden’s private...

A female event organizer told state probers in cringe-worthy detail how then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo allegedly “grabbed my butt” — and her shock at being “assaulted by the governor.’’ The woman was at a Hudson River revitalization event Sept. 14, 2019, when she said Cuomo grabbed her arm “to pull me into the photo,’’ according to explosive transcripts released by the state attorney general’s office last week. “At the conclusion of the photo he took his hand and double tapped the area where my butt and my thigh meet, so kind of under my butt cheek,” the stunned worker told investigators...

In reading (until my eyes crossed) the legal arguments pro and con in the various State suits against the Biden vaccine mandate, I did not see any material discussion about how the mandate was medically unwise, improper, or fattening. A pantheon of legal minds quite effectively showed how calling it an “Emergency” rule was a legal travesty. They came within speaking distance of medical issues when addressing the difference between office workers in close proximity and truckers working alone for many hours. But at no time did they say anything about the medical (in)advisability of getting the Fauci Ouchy in...

Lately, you might have noticed an increase in prices at the gas pump, the grocery store, and pretty much everything else you can buy. The shelves at stores are empty, employers can't find workers to fill positions, and Americans everywhere are bracing for higher taxes. Welcome to Joe Biden's and the Democrats' socialist America. In their America, it's seemingly okay to spend trillions of dollars, rack up copious amounts of debt, and ignore a crisis at hand. In their America, inflation and supply chain issues are apparently a "high class problem," even as working American families are seeing the greatest...
