Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has called state legislators to come together next week for a special session to consider several proposals that push back against Biden’s authoritarian COVID-19 vaccine mandates for workers and employers. The main piece of legislation being weighed is a proposal to decide whether the state should withdraw itself from the partisan oversight of Biden’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The measure was introduced earlier this month and sponsored by Republicans Sen. Travis Hutson and Rep. Ardian Zika after OSHA had finally issued its Emergency Temporary Standard relating to Biden’s vaccine mandate for businesses with 100...

Eight-year-old Fiona Lashells has delivered a worthy example of standing up for your convictions against power-mad tyrants. Fiona Lashells Soon after the Florida 2nd grader appeared before the Palm Beach County School Board and vowed she would continue to defy the school district’s mask mandate, the district dropped the mandate. The board described the change as a “face covering opt-out” for parents. Fiona for...

When people think of the proper role of city government, they usually think police, roads, and schools. The City of Los Angeles ranks near the bottom in all three (not to mention having the worst homeless problem in the country). Perhaps this is because the city seems more intent on engaging in social experiments than fixing roads, fighting crime, and improving schools. The latest example is its new “BIG:LEAP” basic income program, designed to “transform the role of local government.” While defunding the police and giving free money to people are considered fringe ideas in most places, in Los Angeles...

OTTAWA---Canada's spy service said on Friday it was increasingly concerned about the rise of violent ideologically motivated online rhetoric, which it blamed in part on tensions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said since the start of the pandemic, threats posed by extremists had "evolved with unprecedented multiplicity and fluidity." COVID-19 it said, has worsened existing strains of xenophobia and anti-authoritarianism. Violent extremists were exploiting the pandemic by amplifying false informaton about government measures and the virus, it said. Protesters opposed to mandatory vaccinations have blocked access to hospitals across Canada and abused medical staff,...

The famed Magnum Research Desert Eagle handgun has a lineage that goes back over 35 years with lots of twists and turns, but its future is bright. Large-caliber semi-automatic pistols, up until the mid-1960s, were exceedingly rare. Prior to that, the category consisted largely of the rarely-encountered Mars pistol. Then came Harry Sandford's short-lived Auto-Mag (made in Pasadena of all places!) which was short-recoil operated and featured a rotary bolt, enabling it to shoot a rimless shortened equivalent of the .44 Magnum, the .44 AMP. Following up on that in the 1970s was Wildey Moore's eponymous gas-powered autoloading pistol,...

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Islamist ambitions seem to be seeking an international role in post-U.S. Afghanistan in alliance with the Taliban, Qatar, Pakistan and Malaysia. The trouble is, Turkey, among the new sharia alliance in the making, is the only country with institutional ties to the Western world. Biden has weakened himself and his country so badly that the superpower was reduced to the point of being blackmailed by NATO's only Islamist member. Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has made it clear: "If the U.S. is to be in the Middle East, it must cooperate with Turkey." Afghanistan is...

U.S. journalist Danny Fenster was sentenced by a court in Myanmar on Friday to 11 years in prison with hard labor after he was found guilty on several charges, including spreading false information. The Biden administration has pressed Myanmar's ruling military junta for Fenster's release, and has described the journalist's arrest as "profoundly unjust." Fenster, the managing editor of the online magazine Frontier Myanmar, was found guilty of incitement for allegedly spreading false or inflammatory information, contacting illegal organizations and violating visa regulations, and more, according to The Associated Press, citing his lawyer Than Zaw Aung. He was sentenced to...

The Washington Post has amended at least a dozen reports investigating the genesis and fallout of the Steele dossier, an opposition research project that is almost certainly a work of total fiction if not Russian counterintelligence propaganda. Two articles in particular, one from 2017 and one from 2019 , have undergone significant edits, with major portions of the reporting removed entirely. Both stories also bear lengthy editor’s notes. The 2017 story, titled originally, “Who is ‘Source D’? The man said to be behind the Trump-Russia dossier’s most salacious claim,” identified businessman Sergei Millian as a key source for the dossier....

[Catholic Caucus] Rome Against the Roman Rite: A Template for Cowardly BishopsWe see now where this is going. Immediately following the release of Traditionis Custodes in July, 2021, a few bishops canceled Latin Masses in their dioceses. Many, however, are still “prayerfully considering” how best to implement the Pope’s executive order. Now the vicar general for the Diocese of Rome has given the bishops of the world a template for acceptable implementation of Traditionis Custodes.According to the letter of the vicar general dated October 7, 2021 (translated by Peter Kwasniewski), one parish church in the Diocese of Rome may offer...

Senate Commerce Republicans are whipping opposition to the nomination of Gigi Sohn, one of President Joe Biden’s picks for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Biden nominated Sohn, former FCC counsel under Tom Wheeler and Ford Foundation alum, to an empty spot on the commission in late October, along with current acting Chair Jessica Rosenworcel to the permanent position. While Republicans have been quiet in their response to the nomination of Rosenworcel, many are pointing to Sohn’s public statements on conservatives as reasons to oppose her confirmation. “Ms. Sohn is another radical leftist that President Biden is seeding his administration with,”...

A federal court ordered Joe Biden’s Department of Justice to stop extracting data from the phone of Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe. According to court documents, the government must confirm by Nov. 12 that it has stopped the search of O’Keefe’s devices. In addition, the court mandated the federal agents provide a response to O’Keefe’s request for explanation as to why the search was taking place. O’Keefe revealed the FBI took two of his iPhones and called the raids an “attack on the First Amendment.” The FBI claimed the search is connected to the alleged diary of Ashley Biden, which...

Running any marathon is no small feat for a first-time marathoner. Running it as the child of a former president could be even a little more challenging. Chelsea Clinton, 41, not only ran and finished the New York City Marathon on Sunday, she did did it under the cloak of an alias. Or perhaps, she was Anonymous. Chelsea, who's the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, finished her first marathon in just under 4 hours. Her name wasn't found on the final results, though. She finished the race in 3 hours, 59 minutes and nine seconds (3:59:09).
